Deana Lou Adams, 87, St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020.

She was born July 1, 1933 in St. Joseph to Harvey D. and Marjorie J. (Jones) Miller. Deana married Lloyd Adams on Sept. 18, 1954. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2018. She was a nurse for 50 years. Deana was a member of Central Christian Church and was formerly a member of Union Star United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Sally McGinnis; and brother, H.D. Miller.

Survivors include children, Corky Marquart (Keith), Don Adams (Joan), Wanda Workman (Terry), Nancy Pitts (Tom); grandchildren, Blake and Brooke Marquart, Brett (Amanda) and Scott (Erica) Adams, Paul (Kristen) and Adam Workman, Emily Fox (Nathan), Becky and Edward McGinnis, Alex (Cami), Luke and Alaina Pitts; 14 great-grandchldren; sister, Rose Kurtz; brother, Ed Miller (Becky); son-in-law, Kent McGinnis; sister-in-law, Peggy Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Esther Bell Koons was born on November 9, 1924, to Harry and Sylvia Wright in St. Joseph, Missouri. She passed away on November 13, 2020 at the age of 96.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Hub, her husband, Kenneth, her son, Kenny, and her son-in-law, Chuck Kneib. She was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a family who loved her as much as she loved them.&nbsp; Her two daughters Susan Kneib, of Chaska, Minnesota and Sally Morlock (Greg) of&nbsp; Missoula, Montana, her grandchildren, Boone (Amanda) of Chaska, Minnesota, Ashley (Ryan), of Wayzata, Minnesota, Abby (Ryan) of Henderson, Nevada and Carly (Zach) of Missoula, Montana, and her great-grandchildren Makayla, Kylie, Jackson, Dylan, Anderson, Deacon, Ava and Stella.&nbsp; What a gift she was to all of us!&nbsp;&nbsp;

In 1996, she made a move from St. Joseph, Missouri to Missoula, Montana to be near her grandkids.&nbsp; She spent the rest of her life there and we were all the richer for it.&nbsp; And even though she never really fell in love with Montana like her daughters did, she enjoyed the years being close to her family.&nbsp; She even told us that when her time came, to please take her back&nbsp; home to Missouri.&nbsp; That’s exactly what we are doing.&nbsp; Rest in peace, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and an aunt to several nieces and nephews, Onilee, Greg, Randy, Jeff, Emery Lee, Wayne, Barb, George, Mark and Dale and the best friend you could ever want to all those who called her friend.

Lisa was preceded in death by mother, Pearl Jean Potter (Alvin Lee Honeycutt), a son, Joseph Michael DeLaCruz, sisters, Geri Hatch, and Lois Navarro.

Robert "Bob" S. Dittemore Jr. 61, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care. 

He was born March 31, 1959 in St. Joseph, son of Frances and Robert Dittemore Sr. He graduated from Benton High School. He married Laura Adams on June 1, 2002 . Bob was currently a Supervisor at Altec Industries, where he has enjoyed working his past 41 years. Bob was a family man and loved being a papa. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating and camping. He was a skilled welder, often fixing and creating. He always had a desire to learn and could accomplish anything he put his efforts to. He was a member of Sparta United Methodist Church. 

Robert was preceded in death by father, Robert Stephen Dittemore Sr., mother, Frances Cox and sister, Stephanie Otwell. 

Survivors include, wife, Laura Dittemore of the home, daughter, Jammie (David) Salsbury of Savannah, MO, son, Todd (Chie) Wolf of San Antonio, TX, and a granddaughter, Lauren Salsbury.

Robert Stephen Dittemore Jr.  1959 - 2020

Loyd E. Russell, 82, St. Joseph, passed away Friday, November 13, 2020. He was born July 18, 1938, in Winston, Missouri, to Clifton and Ethel (Moore) Russell.

Loyd married Doris Young on April 13, 1962. They later divorced. He married Mary Canady on February 14, 1987. She preceded him in death. On January 24, 2016, he married Darla L. Henry. She survives of the home.

Loyd served in the U.S. Air Force and was a 20-year member of the Army National Guard.

He had worked as a building engineer for the State Hospital in St. Joseph, and for a municipal building in Kansas City, Missouri. Loyd was a member of Faith Bible Church and the Blind Club in St. Joseph, as well as the American Legion, AARP, and the Missouri Enlisted Men’s Association. He volunteered for many years at Heartland Hospital (now Mosaic Life Care). He loved Westerns.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 10 siblings; and great-granddaughter, Daphani Miller.

Survivors include wife, Darla; son, Loyd D. Russell (Allison); grandchildren, Mikki, Nikki, Cassandra and Rick; seven great-grandchildren; four step-children; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda Roberts and Betty Lou Woods; and brother, Gary Russell.

She was born May 19, 1937 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Lorene and Russell Griffin. She attended Central High School. She worked at Stetson Hats for 30 years, &amp; Bon Ton Cleaners with her husband, Ron for another 30 years. She enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines, fishing, and she had a massive collection of Teddy Bears. She was a member of the Wyatt Park Christian Church. 

Juanita was preceded in death by husband, Ronald Meng on October 15, 2020, her parents, Russell Griffin, and her mother, which she was very close too, Mellie "Lorene" Bartch, and two brothers. 

Survivors include: daughter, Cheri (Stan) Dedman, Plattsburg, MO, sons, David Meng, Topeka, KS, and Ricky Meng, St. Joseph, daughter in law, Dianna Meng, and eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Aaron Caleb Cox 56, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, November 6, 2020 at his home. 

He was born April 22, 1964 in St. Joseph, Missouri, son of the late Wilma &amp; Martin Cox. He worked in telecommunications as a boom truck operator. He enjoyed cars, trucks and heavy equipment, fishing, and he loved music and animals. He liked a good joke and loved to laugh. 

Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Pete Cox, sister, Theresa Auxier, 1/2 brothers, John Hurt and James Kelly Williams, and 1/2 sister, Suzanna Chugtai. 

Survivors include: son, Preston Cox of the home, brother, Martin Cox, and daughters, Haila and Heidi Bear. 

He will be cremated under the care and direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.

Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Pete Cox, sister, Theresa Auxier, 1/2 brothers, John Hurt and James Kelly Williams, and 1/2 sister, Suzanna Chugtai. In the early morning hours of Nov 12th, 2020, having decided a long time ago that the best way to go was in your sleep, our beloved mother Dawn Barnthson did just that, surrounded by her family. She left this earthly plane in the company of Jesus to reunite with the love of her life, husband Raymond.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Dawn was born October 6, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois to Lewis E. and Helen E. (Collins) Gillespie.&nbsp;

One of 8 daughters, she grew up fiercely loyal, selfless, and dedicated to family. She became a proud army wife who followed her husband from state to state, having 5 children in four different states. The large Barnthson family had a lot of family get togethers while we all enjoyed Momma's fabulous cooking, and NO ONE will ever beat her chicken and fluffy dumplings. Dawn also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, talking to her 5 sisters from Louisiana by phone and collected Gone With the Wind and Wizard of Oz memorabilia. Known as the cake lady to so many, it gave her special pleasure to share her talent with others to help you all create your family memories. She would want you all to know her secret ingredient was love. She lived by these simple rules, love everyone, be kind, give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and laugh a lot!&nbsp; Dawn and her sister-in-law, Carol, called themselves the "Outlaws" and enjoyed a deep, sisterly bond for over 60 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Dawn married Raymond E. Barnthson on September 2, 1952 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2005. Dawn was also preceded in death by her parents, in-laws and sisters, Marlene Tolliver and Dixie Garner.&nbsp;

To the world you were a sweet kind lady. To your family you were the world. Philip Ray Korthanke, age 93, of Hiawatha, passed away on November 13, 2020, at the Hiawatha Hospital surrounded by family.&nbsp;

Phil was born in Robinson, February 13, 1927, one of five children born to F.P. and Elizabeth Lynd Korthanke and has lived in the Brown County area all of his life.&nbsp; He grew up and attended country schools prior to graduating with the class of 1945 at Hiawatha High School.&nbsp; Phil joined the US Navy and proudly served his country during World War II.&nbsp; Phil mentioned a couple memorable occasions while in the Navy was crossing the Pacific Ocean 3 times on the USS Meriwether APA 203.&nbsp; He also said flying an airplane at 20 years old.&nbsp; He returned to Brown County to farm and often worked on construction projects in the winter for neighbors and loved ones.&nbsp; He had a green thumb and loved gardening.&nbsp; His flower garden at his home on Iroquois street in Hiawatha was one of the most beautiful parts of the city for years.&nbsp; As a child, Philip helped his grandfather, Theodore, plant many of the beautiful maple trees all over Hiawatha.

Philip was a warm, welcoming, and hardworking man.&nbsp; He was also a charmer.&nbsp; He married the love of his life, Anna Margaret Clary, in 1951.&nbsp; The two of them met on an arranged double date when Philip, after seeing Annie, coaxed her into the front seat with him even though she wasn’t supposed to be his date.&nbsp; Later, when Philip decided that he’d parachute candy down from a single-engine plane to some of the local girls he knew, Annie refused to run out and collect hers.&nbsp; He landed the plane in the pasture and hand-delivered the candy instead.&nbsp; They were quite a pair.&nbsp;

Phil’s faith was very important to him and a longtime member of the Christian Center in Hiawatha; also, the Hedrick-Moll Post #148, Robinson American Legion.&nbsp;

Philip was the patriarch of a large and loving family.&nbsp; He loved hosting family get-togethers and spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.&nbsp; He is survived by his sons: Dave, Jim, Rick (Janice), Mark (Gina) and daughter, Lisa Neher (Tim); 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and sister, Betty Jo Burris.&nbsp;

Philip was preceded in death by his parents, FP and Elizabeth; his brothers, Bob (Verneal) and Glen (Bessie); his sister, Dorothy; and daughter-in-law, Charliss.

Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha after 12 noon Sunday, where the family will be present from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday.&nbsp;

She was born in St Joseph, September 26, 1930 to Ira K. Painter and Anna B. Hutson, Virginia loved her family and dear friends and also loved doing scratch-off tickets, slot machines at any casino and watching game shows on TV. She recently celebrated her 90th Birthday.

Virginia was preceded in death by her partner of over 30 years, Walter Brownlee, sisters Leatrice Barnes and Dorothy Clark, brother Richard Painter, nieces Gail Johnson and Vicki Rosenauer, and her best friends Orris and Almeda Langley.

She worked as a secretary for a short time for Blish-Mize Co, but the majority of her life she was a homemaker and housewife. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, crossword puzzles, singing, being outdoors, and visiting with everyone. She especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Wanda was a former member and Noble Grand of the Rebekah’s Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star; she was a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader, and had taught tap, ballet, and character dancing. She had attended Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include two daughters, Kathrine Neill, of the home, Maggie Large, Topeka, KS, two sons Wayne Tadlock, Horton, KS and Donnie Tadlock, Littlerock, AR, grandson Roman Neill, of the home, and numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her parents, husband Robert Tadlock and brother Dean Forbes preceded her in death.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Patrick "PJ" Michael Morley, 23, of St Joseph, formerly of Sioux City, IA, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020 in St Joseph. 

He was born July 14, 1997 in Sioux City, IA, son of Julie and Patrick Morley. He attended East High School, Sioux City. PJ was currently employed at Carriage Square Health Care Center. He enjoyed coon hunting, listening to music, playing with his nephews and niece and spending time with his dogs. PJ will be remembered for his dancing and goofing around. 

He was preceded in death by mother, Julie Morley. 

Survivors include, father, Patrick (Sheela Summers) Morley, Sr. of Sioux City, IA, sister, Nichole (Jordan Morey) Ortega of Sioux City, IA, sister, Ashley (Juan Gonzalez Hernandez) Garcia of St. Joseph, sister, Emily (Tyler Jackson) Morley of St. Joseph, Maternal Grandmother, Karen Ouellette of Springfield, MN, nephews, Alan Garcia Lopez, Izaiah Garcia Lopez, Juan Gonzalez Hernandez Jr., Julian Gonzalez Hernandez, and Tyler Jackson, Jr. and niece, Iana Ortega.

He was born July 14, 1997 in Sioux City, IA, son of Julie and Patrick Morley. He attended East High School, Sioux City. PJ was currently employed at Carriage Square Health Care Center. He enjoyed coon hunting, listening to music, playing with his nephews and niece and spending time with his dogs. PJ will be remembered for his dancing and goofing around. He was preceded in death by mother, Julie Morley. David Janovec, 77, of St Joseph, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at a local health care facility. 

He was born February 7, 1943 in Oakland, CA, son of Tommie and John Janovec. David worked in the Aerospace Industry, having worked for RCA Satellite Division as a West Coast Representative. His hobbies included boating in the ocean, ocean fishing, lounging on the beach, bluegrass music and playing the guitar. 

David was preceded in death by daughter, Victoria Janovec, former spouse, Johnee Janovec, father, John Janovec, mother, Tommie Janovec and sister, Teresa Shelton. 

Survivors include, daughter, Veronica Janovec of St. Joseph, sister, Elena Janovec of Bend, OR, grandchildren, Bryson (Laura), Kyler, Makenna, Claire and Colton (Briley) Janovec and 9 great-grandchildren.

Pamela June Anderson, 73, of Hiawatha, formerly of Robinson, went to be with the Lord, November 11, 2020.

A Celebration of her life is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 14, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, with Shane Spangler officiating.&nbsp; Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Robinson.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 noon until 7 p.m. Friday where the family will be present.

Pam was born February 12, 1947, at Horton, one of seven children born to Frank and Wanda Wenger Hedrick and was raised in Kansas City, Kansas.&nbsp; She married Larry Howard in 1966 and the couple moved to Robinson in 1967 to make their home and blessed their union with Tami and Russ.&nbsp; She and Larry later divorced and she moved to Hiawatha in 1984.

Pam married Mark Anderson in 1991 at their home.&nbsp; Pam worked at Abitibi in Hiawatha for 18 years, and later as a para educator for Brown County Special Education Cooperative.&nbsp; She enjoyed writing and submitting the Robinson community news to be included in the Hiawatha Daily World.

She was a faithful Christian and an ordained minister along with her husband Mark.&nbsp; Together, they worked to spread the word to bring people of all ages to Christ.&nbsp; She loved working as a youth minister at Living Water Fellowship where Mark was the pastor.&nbsp; A number of years ago, she was nominated to be one of the “Women of the Year” in Kansas.

Survivors include two children Tami Kent (Jim) of Sabetha, Russ Howard of Sparta, MO, two step-children: Joe Anderson and Stephanie Anderson, both of Shawnee Mission, KS; six grandchildren:&nbsp; Megan Nix (Marvin), Holly Hyde (Mat), Amanda Hartley, Jackie Cherry, Steven Howard, and Tiffani Howard; and 10 great-grandchildren.&nbsp; Other survivors include her siblings:&nbsp; Polly Dove (Bob), Wesley Hedrick (Dot), Terry Hedrick (Paula), Arley Hedrick (Eileen), Poma Thaxton, and Peggy Williams.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mark &nbsp;November 13, 2011, along with her favorite dog Cookie.

Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her dog Cookie Dough.

David A. Schussler, 74, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020.

He was born September 5, 1946 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Sylvester and Ruth (Roberts) Schussler.

David graduated from Christian Brothers High School. On April 8, 1965 he married Barbara Keck, they moved to Holton, Kansas where they raised 4 children. They later divorced.

He loved his family and spending time with them. David enjoyed golf for many years as a member of the St. Joseph Country Club and Duncan Hills. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Delores Drag, Alline Schussler; brothers, Thomas and Larry Schussler.

Ruby M. Worley, 87, St. Joseph, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020.

She was born July 13, 1933, to Archie and Marie (Garner) Edwards. Ruby married Ronald L. Worley on July 2, 1954. He survives of the home. She was the longtime owner/operator of the Dinky Diner in St. Joseph, where she was well-known known for her pies.

Ruby was very involved in all of her children’s activities, and also enjoyed quilting, playing guitar and singing at the Gower Goodtimers Club, camping, fishing, and playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jeffery Worley; siblings, Mary Hodde, Betty Carter, Jim Edwards and infant brother, John Edwards.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald; children, Steve Worley (Elaine), Roger Worley, and Connie Bowers (Jim); seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Francis Miller; brothers-in-law, Leroy and Larry Worley; sisters-in-law, Irene Worley and Phyllis Edwards.

Darlene Pearl Wright 91, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020 at her home. 

She was born January 24, 1929 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Nora and Robert Jackson. She worked at EL Smith and Sons Insurance, and Wright Ray insurance as an Insurance Agent. She enjoyed to crochet, and work puzzles and was a Catholic. 

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, and one sister. 

Survivors include, daughter, Patti (Bill) Wiebe, son, Ted "Buster" Wright, and daughter, Michelle Applegate all of St. Joseph, a brother, Lindel Jackson, sister, Mary Ellen Patton, special friend, Barbara Wright, former husband, Ted Wright, and former daughter in law, Penny Wright, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren.

Hank Bachali III, 59, of St Joseph, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020 at his home. 

He was born January 28, 1961 in St. Joseph, son of Dixie and Henry Bachali. He graduated from Benton High School, class of 1979 and Missouri Western State College. Hank was currently working for VanCleave Construction. He enjoyed his yearly men's hunting trip, fishing, watching sporting events with his son. He was proud of his 1st house he built and his lake house. He also enjoyed teasing and being goofy with his grandkids. Hank spent his last few months with his family around him. 

Henry was preceded in death by father, Henry Earl Bachali, Jr., mother, Dixie Bachali and sister, Rhonda Bachali. 

Survivors include, daughter, Holly Bachali of St Joseph, son, Henry "Hank" (Valerie) Bachali of St. Joseph, grandchildren, Myles, Jadah, Kyliana, and Vashawn, brother, Tom (Cheryl) Bachali of St. Joseph, sister, Tawnya McCoy of Kansas City, MO and niece, Amy (Casey) Jackson of St. Joseph.
