Norval “Dean” O’Bannon, 89, of Wathena, Kansas passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at his home.&nbsp;

Dean was born on January 24, 1931 in Alanthus Grove, Missouri to Hugh Clifford and Vivian Marie (Ross) O’Bannon.&nbsp;

He served in the U.S. Navy before receiving a medical discharge.&nbsp;

Dean owned and operated a professional tree trimming service for 72 years and worked for Carnation retiring after 25 years. In his younger years he started off his career as a farmer.&nbsp;

Dean married Marcella Jean Jensen O’Bannon. They later divorced.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Delvin LaVane O’Bannon and Brady Warren O’Bannon.&nbsp;

Survivors; his children, Dennis Dean O’Bannon, Colorado&nbsp;

Charlene (Maag) Haley, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020.

She was born September 15, 1928 in Clarksdale, Missouri to Charles and Vesta (Rist) Maag.

Charlene married Edward Haley January 1, 1949. He preceded her in death December 28, 1981.

She graduated from Clarksdale High School and Gard Business College. Charlene worked as a secretary at Memorial Park Cemetery, traffic clerk at Wyeth Hardware Company and distribution center at Hillyard Chemical Company, which she retired from in 1992.

She was an active member of Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church, certified lay speaker since 1983, Runcie Club, volunteered at the Samaritan Center and Mosaic Life Care Hospice.

Her hobbies included traveling, photography, collecting Madonnas, stamps, reading was always a favorite pastime and she had an extensive library in her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harold; sister, Shirley; and son-in-law, Mike Hirter.

Survivors include daughter, Dawn Hirter (Russell Martin); son, Tony Haley (Barbara); grandchildren, Amy Meyer (Mark), Josh Haley (Mandy), Sarah Malhiwsky; great-grandchildren, Khia and Onyx Haley, Lake and Quaid Campbell, Dreyven Malhiwsky.

Marilynne (Heckman) Grider passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26,&nbsp;2020 at Mosaic.

Born April 27, 1940 to Henry &amp; Lena Heckman and raised in Fillmore, MO, the youngest of 12.

Mary loved Jesus and many gospel groups, and you would often find her playing the&nbsp;Gaithers&nbsp;with tears rolling down her cheeks. She loved family gatherings and time spent with family were her most precious treasures. She was often up for a good game of pitch and claimed to be the champion. She was a mama bear when it came to her kids, even when they were grown. She loved a good laugh and even liked a fight every now and then to “feel alive”.

She leaves behind four children: Sherri Morgan (Bruce), Mike Grider (Barb), Jeff Grider (Angie), and Carel Grider; sisters Dorothy Hagee, Eva Pryor, and Norma Barton; Grandchildren: Marie, Natasha, Chris, Justin, Josh, Joey, Nick, Cody, Nathan, Jessie and Gabe, as well as many great-grandchildren. She loved all their spouses like her own. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carrell Grider; four brothers: Lyman Heckman, Charles Heckman, Elton Heckman, and Bob Heckman; four sisters: Verna McHugh, Esther Johnson, Alberta Beeler, and Lola Pierpoint.

Mrs. Grider has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

Rosemary “Sissy” Wilson, 70, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020.

She was born November 5, 1949 to Floyd and Dorothy (Nichols) Haffey. Sissy married William “Bill” Wilson November 22, 1969. He survives of the home.

She was of the Catholic faith. Sissy worked for Gray Manufacturing for 50 years, retiring in 2018.

Sissy enjoyed traveling, going on her yearly company girls trip, her annual Hawaii trip to visit best friends, the Dunlap’s, but most of all spending time with her children and grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandmother, Rose; brother, Pat Haffey; sister, Kathy Rivera.

Additional survivors include daughter, Jamie Bransfield (Jeff); son, Michael Wilson; grandson, Landon; brother, Tom Bransfield (Mary Kay); her loving dog, Rosie; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and work family at Gray Manufacturing.

He was born June 3, 1951 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Walter and Alice (Taysen) Whiting.

Kevin married Vickie Marie Soper November 28, 1975. She survives of the home.

He enjoyed being outdoors but most of all spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Janet VanWinkle.

Shawn Dale "Griff" Griffin, 47, of St Joseph, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at his home. 

He was born December 4, 1972 in St. Joseph, son of Dara &amp; Robert Griffin. He graduated from Central High School, class of 1991. He worked as a welder at Harley Davidson, and most recently Entertain Mart. He loved the Raiders, he was a horror movie critic, and known as Mighty Griff on his online radio station, More Horror Than Horror.

Gladys (Carter) Tracy, 77, Dekalb, Missouri, formerly of Brevard, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020.

She was born May 14, 1943 to Lawson and Etta (Shook) Carter in Brevard, North Carolina.

Gladys married John Ashe October 8, 1962. She was a preacher’s wife for 35 years before John’s passing in 2000. On July 30, 2005, Gladys married John Tracy. They shared 15 years of marriage together. She was a cake decorator, employed for many years at HyVee, Walmart, and Price Chopper.

Gladys was full of life and laughed easily with a sparkle in her green eyes. She loved to cook and feeding anyone and everyone brought her great joy.

Gladys was a member of the Abundant Faith Church of God. She loved the Lord and always worked for His kingdom. A prayer warrior, God has always and forever been faithful to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Arnold and Leona.

Survivors include husband, John D. Patricia Grace Thornton 82, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 23, 2020 at her home. 

She was born February 7, 1938 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Gracie and Arnie Stocking. She graduated from Pickett High School and Platte Gard Business College. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed crochet, knitting, quilting, cooking, gardening, crafting and drawing, she also liked the Kansas City Chiefs, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Patricia was always positive and in a great mood, and had an infectious smile. She based everything on her faith in God. She was a member of the Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church. 

Patricia was preceded in death by husband, Robert Edward Thornton Sr., her parents, son, Robert E. Thornton III , granddaughter, Nina Marie Thornton, and brother Kenneth Stocking.

Lola Norton, 89, of St. Joseph, died July 23, 2020.&nbsp; Lola was born December 26, 1930 in St. Joseph, to&nbsp; Benjamin and Celia (Smith) Webster.&nbsp;

Prior to retirement she was co-owner of Norco Printing Service.&nbsp;

She married William P. Norton, Jr. on January 26, 1951 in St. Joseph, and he preceded her in death on September 6, 1992.&nbsp; Also preceding her in&nbsp; death were her parents and a brother Roger Webster.

Survivors include her children, Michael Norton (Pam), Michele Bay; a sister Janet Kraus; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She loved to go to the casino and was a Bridge LifeMaster.&nbsp;

Memorial contributions may be made to Mosaic Hospice or Home Instead.

Jean Gayle (Haynes) Parker, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 23, 2020.

She was born on February 16, 1931 to Sherman and Frances (Bowlin) Haynes in St. Joseph, Missouri. She attended Lindbergh Elementary and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1948. While there she was in the Lampion Honor Society and was elected Miss Shamrock in 1947. After high school, she attended Oklahoma Baptist University and St. Joseph Junior College.

On December 8, 1950 she married Harvey Lee Parker, Jr. at the King Hill Baptist Church. They were the first couple married in the new sanctuary. While Harvey was serving with the Air National Guard in France, Jean Gayle and 39 others from the King Hill church volunteered to start a mission in the vacant Hundley Methodist Church building. This became the Calvary Baptist Church.

After taking a 20-year semester break to raise her children, she enrolled at Missouri Western College and earned her B.S. in Secondary Education in 1970, where she graduated Magnum Cum Laude. She obtained her master’s degree from Northwest Missouri College in 1975. Jean Gayle was a teacher in the St. Joseph School District. Her subjects were Social Studies and English. She taught at Bliss Junior High, Truman Middle School, and Benton High School.

As an avocation. Harvey was the Worship Leader at First Baptist Church. Jean Gayle was always at his side directing children’s choirs and planning special events. Their last ministry at the church was team teaching an adult Sunday School Class.

Jean Gayle was a past president of St. Joseph Sweet Adelines and a member of Questers. Her hobbies were genealogy and scrapbooking. The couple traveled extensively in search of ancestors. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Harvey; daughter, Michele Beamon (Robert); son, Wesley Alan Parker (Pamela); four grandchildren, John Beamon (Calyn), Seth Parker (Sara), Kinsey Redmond (Chris), Benjamin Parker; great-grandchildren, Kate and Jane Parker, Ellie and Logan Redmond; sister, Joyce Ann Poe, of Indiana, Indianapolis; several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Opal Ann Freeman, age 98, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of July 21, 2020.&nbsp; She was born October 14, 1921 in San Angelo, Texas to William and Sarah Stout.&nbsp; She married her only love, Leonard Calvin (L.C.) Freeman in October of 1941.

A gentle smile and soft southern drawl were her hallmarks, but it was her kindness, compassion, humor and spunk that truly defined her. Opal, better known as Grandma Opal to all, always seemed to have a one-line zinger at the ready.

Opal became a faithful member of the Wyatt Park Baptist Church when she relocated to Saint Joseph from Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1989. &nbsp;For over fifty years, she had been an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.

Opal was a dedicated and devoted mother to Janelle (Tom) Aldrich and Chuck Freeman, both of Saint Joseph. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Kristin Kessler of Overland Park, Kansas; Kara (Brian) Hicks of Saint Joseph; and Kimberly (Michael) Hernandez of Tularosa, New Mexico. She also has ten great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband L.C. in 1985 and her grandson Todd Aldrich in 2008.

Opal never knew a stranger and made friends everywhere she went, and she will be missed by many, including those friends she made while a resident of Living Community of Saint Joseph.

Opal Ann Freeman  1921 - 2020

Mary Lou (Boo) Milbourne, 93, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born December 19, 1926 in Cawood, MO, to the late Reginald and Velma (Pittsenberger) Casaday.

In June of 1947 she married Bill Milbourne. He preceded her in death in December 1995.

She worked at the former American National Bank as a teller and was a member of the Eagles Lodge, and was an avid card player, bowler and softball player. She enjoyed woodworking, landscaping, candy and dessert making and her greatest passion was her backyard.

Mary Lou was strong in her Christian faith.&nbsp;

In addition to her parents and husband, She was preceded in death by her son; Reggie.

Mrs. Milbourne is survived by, daughter in-law; Wendy (Geary) Chambers, granddaughter; Angie (Sam) Thompson, grandson; Jason (Michelle) Milbourne, great-grandchildren; Jaycee and Kiley Roe, Ari and Ava Milbourne and numerous extended family.

Mary Lou (Boo) Milbourne, 93, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.She was born December 19, 1926 in Cawood, MO, to the late Reginald and Velma (Pittsenberger) Casaday.In June of 1947 she married Bill Milbourne. He preceded her in death in December 1995.She worked at the former American National Bank as a teller and was a member of the Eagles Lodge, and was an avid card player, bowler and softball player. Marceliene Belle “Patty” Dean, 86, of Robinson, died Saturday afternoon, July 18, 2020, at the Hiawatha Community Hospital.&nbsp; She previously had been a resident of Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha

Patty, as to how she was known to family and friends, was born in Kansas City, Missouri, January 11, 1934, and was raised by Mimi and Loyd Caldwell.&nbsp; The family moved to Falls City, Nebraska where she attended Sacred Heart Catholic Schools, later graduated from high school in 1952.

Patty was a CMA (certified medication aide), worked in nursing homes and hospitals for over 50 years, retiring in 2015, at the age of 81.&nbsp; She worked her whole life taking care of others, giving what she had to make everyone else’s life better.&nbsp; She was a companion to Fred Cole of rural Highland for over 20 years.

Patty was a member of Saint’s Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Falls City.

Survivors include a son Jerry Dean, the Cole and Whestine Families of Doniphan County, caregiver and friend Anna Wisdom of Robinson; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her adopted parents, son Harry Dean, bother Howard Maxwell.

She was born October 28, 1933 in Helena, Missouri to Frank and Sophia (Krull) Guyot.

Bertie married Laurence King October 29, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1991.

She ran Platte Valley Conoco Service Station with her husband, commonly known as “King’s Conoco”. Bertie worked over 25 years in the Daycare industry retiring at 82 years old. She spent over 80 years in St. Joseph, Missouri except for a few years in San Francisco with her mother at a sister’s home.

Bertie enjoyed socializing while going about her routines in life, whether it be work, her weekly hairdresser appointment or her Saturday at the Casino. She had a lifelong passion for doing craftwork, including many kids Tee Pee’s and a multitude of custom quilts. Bertie also enjoyed years of craft shows at the Civic Arena with her friend, Shirley Lewis where she made many acquaintances and many customers.

Phyllis Jean (Barmann) Breckenridge, 77, St. Joseph, MO, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020.

She was born May 9, 1943 to James and Genevieve “Jean” (Ingersoll) Barmann.

Phyllis married Jerry Breckenridge in 1962; he preceded her in death August 1996. She married Dennis Boteler September 2006; he preceded her in death in 2011.

She worked at American Angus Association as a computer operator in the Information Systems department for 46 years before retiring in May 2008.

Phyllis was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church and volunteered at The House of Bread.

Her grandchildren were the light of her life; Phyllis always attended any event they participated in. She loved traveling, visiting the lake and her walks with her friend, Shelby Corf. When Phyllis was younger, she and her twin, Dick, would put on dance shows. Phyllis’ love of dancing continued throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Jerry and Dennis; parents, and twin brother, Dick Barmann.

She was born September 21, 1953 to Olan and Maxine (Bozarth) Courter in Bethany, Missouri.

Sharon married Tom Buschbom September 7, 1979. They shared 40 years of marriage.

She was a receptionist at Mosaic Women’s Health for 27 years before retiring in 2012. Prior to her employment at the hospital, she worked for AT&amp;T- Southwestern Bell.

Sharon was a member of Culbertson Chapel Methodist Church. She coached girls’ basketball and also played in high school. Sharon was an avid reader of romance novels and murder mysteries. She enjoyed playing cards and cornhole. She liked flowers and liked to travel. Sharon liked to travel best to destinations where she could see the ocean.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Tom Willits.

Edward Arthur Butcher 95, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Monday July 20, 2020 at his home. 

He was born March 25, 1925 in St. Joseph, Missouri son of the late Fannie Marie &amp; Bonnie Butcher. He graduated from Benton High School, and served in the United States Air Force retiring after 25 years of service, as a Senior Master Seargant. He was stationed all over the world, and is a veteran of WWII, receiving numerous meritorious awards for his service. He also retired from Harding Orr &amp; McDaniel Funeral Home, El Paso, TX, and was a Saddle Maker. He was an avid motorcycle rider, and a was a member and Past Grand Master of Five Points Lodge A.F. &amp; A.M. of El Paso, Tx, and the Scottish Rite as a Master Mason, El Paso, TX. 

Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Butcher, his parents, brothers, Forest, Darrel, Junior, Leroy and Bill Butcher, and a sister, Marie Roberts. 

Survivors include his daughter, Reba Marie (Patrick) McManus, St. Joseph, MO, granddaughters, Stacy Franklin, Rebe Thomason, and Kellie (Chris Brown), and grandson, Clarence Edward Walters, granddaughter in law Barbara Walters, sister, Donna Schneider, St. Joseph, MO, brother, Robert Butcher, St. Joseph, MO, great grandchildren; Edward Aaron Franklin, Dustin Brown, and Alex Brown, Ciara &amp; Kelsey Frazier, Elizabeth and Kaitlyn Walters, and great great grandkids Aspen and Beau.

David Smith  1953 - 2019

&nbsp; “Home is the sailor, home from the sea, And the hunter home from the hill.” On July 20, 2020, trial attorney extraordinaire Robert Alexander Brown III arrived at the Pearly Gates to argue his final case. On hand to support his claim for entry were his wife, Mary Lynn Ross Brown, who entered easily on her own merits in 2001, and a happy herd of hunting dogs eager to take to the heavenly fields with their sorely missed master. Bob Brown was born in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1931 to Robert Alexander Brown II and Margaret Agnew Brown. He descended from a long line of noted Missouri jurists, including Missouri Supreme Court Justice Abiel Leonard of Columbia, MO, who served from 1855-57 after his disbarment for killing a man in a duel was revoked by the Missouri legislature; and General Odon Guitar, a Brigadier General in the Union Army during the Civil War who served two terms in the Missouri House of Representatives and practiced criminal law in Columbia. History shows that General Guitar represented 140 homicide defendants during his career and only six of those were found guilty. Apparently, good lawyering ran in Bob’s genes! Bob attended Central High School in St. Joseph for three years before enrolling in Phillips Academy in Andover, MA, where he graduated in 1949. He received his bachelor’s degree from Yale University in 1953 and his juris doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School in 1956. While attending the University of Michigan, Bob met and married Mary Lynn Ross of Flint, Michigan. Their daughter, Mary Lynda Brown, was born in Flint in 1956; shortly thereafter, the family moved back to St. Joseph so Bob could take up the practice of law at Brown, Douglas &amp; Brown, the family firm founded by his grandfather in 1924. They welcomed their youngest daughter Margaret Brown into the world in 1958 as she joined the long line of women named Margaret in the Brown family. Bob maintained his litigation practice for more than 50 years, specializing in medical malpractice defense. He loved his work, and was known as a talented trial lawyer. In 1984, he was honored by induction into the American College of Trial Lawyers, the preeminent organization of trial lawyers in North America. He was also a member of the International Society of Barristers, which honors legal advocates of exceptional talent. In 2006, Bob earned the designation of Senior Counselor of the Missouri Bar Association for a long and distinguished career as a member of the Missouri Bar. In addition to the law, Bob’s other passions included bird hunting, golf, and international travel. He relished his many fall and winter days spent in a northwest Missouri farmer’s field hunting quail with a long line of well-trained English Setter hunting dogs, and often traded legal services with farmers for the right to hunt their land. He was never an early riser unless the day called for duck hunting. On those days, he was up and out the door well before sunrise, headed to a duck blind near Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge. He also hunted the Bob Brown Conservation Area adjacent to Loess Bluff NWR, named in honor of his father who served on the Missouri Conservation Federation and the Missouri Conservation Commission for many years. If fall and winter were for hunting, spring and summer summoned him to the golf course. A long-time member of the St. Joseph Country Club, he won the club championship in 1979 but was precluded from defending his title in 1980 by his daughter Lynda’s wedding. He played into his 70s, reluctantly hanging up his clubs after a shoulder injury prevented him from playing up to his usual high standards. After their daughters graduated from college, Bob and Mary Lynn embraced international travel, taking memorable trips to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand with their dear friends and traveling companions, Dr. Jim and Pat Marston. He kept meticulous diaries of each trip, not recording so much the sights they saw as what they ate and where. To say he “traveled on his stomach” would be an understatement! However, Bob’s favorite place to travel was to his summer home at Wismo on the shores of Lake Courte Oreilles in northwest Wisconsin. He started going to Wismo at a very early age and rarely missed a summer there. He put his talents for persuasion to good use by talking his great Aunt Elvie into hosting raucous house parties for his many friends at Wismo, where they enjoyed daily beer truck deliveries and other misadventures around the lake that continued well into adulthood (mint juleps, anyone?). Many of his lifelong friends were made at Wismo, where later generations still gather every year to share those magical shores. Bob was an unabashedly doting grandfather to his two granddaughters, Alex and Lynden. His oldest friends would look on in astonishment as he coddled, cooed over, and delighted in their every moment -- dance recitals, horse shows, baseball games, soccer matches, graduations, etc. And he recorded them all. During a recent visit, his granddaughter Alex counted 64 framed photos of his grandchildren around the house. He loved them fiercely and was exceptionally proud of their many accomplishments. As his granddaughter Lynden wrote to him shortly before his death, “I feel blessed that you’ve given us all the tools and love we need to continue to succeed and flourish in our lives. I don’t want you to worry about us - because of you, we will all be okay.” Left to remember the stories and tell the tales are his two daughters: Lynda Brown Collins (Bryan) of Little Elm, Texas, and Margaret Brown Martens of Mooresville, North Carolina; two granddaughters: Margaret Alexandra Martens of Atlanta, Georgia, and Lynden Marie Martens of Austin, Texas; a sister, Margaret Armstrong of Honolulu, Hawaii; nephew Geff Scott of San Francisco, California; niece Gretchen Scott of Saugerties, New York; and numerous cousins scattered from coast to coast. He is also remembered fondly by his wonderful companion of the past eight years, Karen Baker of St. Joseph. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Lynn, and his parents, Robert A. &nbsp; “Home is the sailor, home from the sea, And the hunter home from the hill.” On July 20, 2020, trial attorney extraordinaire Robert Alexander Brown III arrived at the Pearly Gates to argue his final case. On hand to support his claim for entry were his wife, Mary Lynn Ross Brown, who entered easily on her own merits in 2001, and a happy herd of hunting dogs eager to take to the heavenly fields with their sorely missed master. Bob Brown was born in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1931 to Robert Alexander Brown II and Margaret Agnew Brown. He descended from a long line of noted Missouri jurists, including Missouri Supreme Court Justice Abiel Leonard of Columbia, MO, who served from 1855-57 after his disbarment for killing a man in a duel was revoked by the Missouri legislature; and General Odon Guitar, a Brigadier General in the Union Army during the Civil War who served two terms in the Missouri House of Representatives and practiced criminal law in Columbia. History shows that General Guitar represented 140 homicide defendants during his career and only six of those were found guilty. Apparently, good lawyering ran in Bob’s genes! Bob attended Central High School in St. Joseph for three years before enrolling in Phillips Academy in Andover, MA, where he graduated in 1949. He received his bachelor’s degree from Yale University in 1953 and his juris doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School in 1956. While attending the University of Michigan, Bob met and married Mary Lynn Ross of Flint, Michigan. Their daughter, Mary Lynda Brown, was born in Flint in 1956; shortly thereafter, the family moved back to St. Joseph so Bob could take up the practice of law at Brown, Douglas &amp; Brown, the family firm founded by his grandfather in 1924. They welcomed their youngest daughter Margaret Brown into the world in 1958 as she joined the long line of women named Margaret in the Brown family. Bob maintained his litigation practice for more than 50 years, specializing in medical malpractice defense. He loved his work, and was known as a talented trial lawyer. In 1984, he was honored by induction into the American College of Trial Lawyers, the preeminent organization of trial lawyers in North America. He was also a member of the International Society of Barristers, which honors legal advocates of exceptional talent. In 2006, Bob earned the designation of Senior Counselor of the Missouri Bar Association for a long and distinguished career as a member of the Missouri Bar. In addition to the law, Bob’s other passions included bird hunting, golf, and international travel. He relished his many fall and winter days spent in a northwest Missouri farmer’s field hunting quail with a long line of well-trained English Setter hunting dogs, and often traded legal services with farmers for the right to hunt their land. He was never an early riser unless the day called for duck hunting. On those days, he was up and out the door well before sunrise, headed to a duck blind near Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge. He also hunted the Bob Brown Conservation Area adjacent to Loess Bluff NWR, named in honor of his father who served on the Missouri Conservation Federation and the Missouri Conservation Commission for many years. If fall and winter were for hunting, spring and summer summoned him to the golf course. A long-time member of the St. Joseph Country Club, he won the club championship in 1979 but was precluded from defending his title in 1980 by his daughter Lynda’s wedding. He played into his 70s, reluctantly hanging up his clubs after a shoulder injury prevented him from playing up to his usual high standards. Robert Earl “Buddy” Brady, III, 57, St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020.

He was born November 19, 1963 to Robert Earl II and Regina Brady. Survivors include children, Clayton Brady and Kaylee Pollard; grandchildren, Beckett Brady, Tryston Brady, Kenneth Pollard; brothers, Randall and Eric Brady and mother, Regina Brady.

He was preceded in death by his father and wife, Rhonda Brady.
