Marie Therese (Morris) Clement has been called home by our creator this morning. She was everyone’s favorite aunty, mother, grandmother, cousin, and friend. Robert Clement and Marie Clement shared a long and beautiful marriage together, and raised three amazing children: Chance Clement, Nick Wilder and Jason Wilder, and Skylar who passed away at the young age of nine days.

We love you so very much. Our lives would have been very different without you. You always were able to smile and laugh no matter what. You were always happy and inspired many from family to friends to complete strangers. You were a Saint in the face of adversity and have brought a lot of joy to many.

Marie was an enrolled and very active member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, as she was a PeaceMaker, and also regularly attended Potawatomi language classes, as well as participating in volunteer work and community events.

Marie was voted as “Miss Wheelchair Kansas” in 2009?, board president of Three Rivers, actively worked on the diversity council of AARP, and had many hobbies. Marie liked gardening, beadwork, cooking, drawing, and most of all, spending time with family.

The world has lost a radiant being, and the world has a little less sparkle. But we have also gained a magnificent angel, who now gets to run and dance and be free amongst our ancestors.

Give your loved ones an extra hug today, especially the ones that make life that much more enjoyable and you always look forward to seeing. We are all very thankful to have had her in our lives.

Marie will lie in state after noon Thursday, February 6th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton where a Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow. A wake will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday at the old bingo hall across from the Prairie Band Potawatomi Government Center at 162777 Q Road, Mayetta, KS.

Franklin Crawford Peters was born July 20, 1929 in Highland, Kansas to John and Blanche Ptomey Peters.

He grew up running the fields and farm with his brothers and sister in Iowa Point. Frank joinedthe United States Navy at the age of 17 and served his Country faithfully and honorably.He was a Warrior Sailor serving in the Korean War and Vietnam War. Frank was a bosun’smate; the deck sailors who drove the ship, heaved the lines, and made the ship look right. Heserved on ships such as the USS Breckinridge, the Radford, and the L.Y. Spear. As a ChiefPetty Officer, he ran river patrol boats out of Danang, Vietnam. Frank retired as a Senior ChiefBoatswain’s Mate after 24 years of service.

Upon his retirement from the navy he settled in Northeast Kansas. Frank was an avidoutdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and telling sea stories, many of which were true. Healways had a project of some sort in progress and he spent many hours taking care of his dogs.Another favorite pastime was playing practical jokes on his many nieces and nephews who saythat Uncle Frank always had a kind word for them, and they will truly miss him.

Mr. Peters passed away on February 4, 2020 in the Hiawatha Community Hospital after a briefbout with pneumonia,

Mr. Peters is preceded in death by his first wife Tommi Peters, infant son Arthur Dean Peters,step-daughter Nicole Dillon and brother Bill Peters.

He is survived by wife Dixie Peters, children: Patricia Peters Martin (Ron, John Karl Peters (Jen, Cheryl Bickley (Brian, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are siblings: Pat Olson, Wayne Peters, and Jerry Peters.A Celebration of Frank’s life is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha. Shane Spangler will officiate.The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services.Memorial contributions are suggested to the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard, sent in care of the funeral home, 124 S 7th St., 66434.

Joseph “Dale” Vernon, 70, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020.

He was born August 26, 1949 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Dale married Regina Hoffman September 17, 1971. She survives of the home.

He was a member of the 139th Air National Guard for 27 years, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Moila, American Legion and was an Eagle Scout. Dale was owner/operator of Vernon Brother’s Construction since 1983.

He enjoyed sprint cars, boating, spending time at the lake, and never missed his grandson Bradley’s baseball games.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Leta (Yates) Vernon.

Additional survivors include daughter, Michelle Vernon (Brian); grandchildren, Bradley Grippando (McKenzie, Nicole Grippando; brother, Greg Vernon (Mary Pat); numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

She was born March 14, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee. 

Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Amos Davis, and Charity Harris, daughter, Patricia Juners, brothers, Jessie and Levi Davis. 

She is survived by 6 children: sons: Tony Walker, Mario, Harold, and Cedric Davis, daughters Barbara (Victor) Wallace and Felecia Davis, brothers, James, Robert, and Amos Jr., sisters, Juanita, Alene, Lurena, and Willie Davis, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Clarence “Pete” Morris, 76, of Elwood, Kansas died Sunday February 2, 2020.

Pete was born on June 5, 1943 in Elwood, Kansas to Perry and Margarette (Stizman) Morris.&nbsp; He lived all of his life in Elwood.&nbsp; Pete was a butcher at the Elwood and Highland, Kansas grocery stores, Carnation, then went to work at Snorkel in Elwood and retired in 2009.

Pete married Beverly Shelton on May 21, 1979.&nbsp; She survives of the home.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Edward “Ed” Morris, sisters; Dorothy and Georgie.

Clarence "Pete" Morris  1943 - 2020

David Denny, 52, St. Joseph, MO., passed from this life from a sudden illness on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph, MO.

He was born January 17th, 1968 to Roger and Carol Denny. David was married to Renee (Bell) for 15 years on January 18th, she survives of the home.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Debra and niece Ashley.

Survivors; two stepsons, two nieces, two nephews and Aunt Pat.

She was preceded in death by husband, Bill Stokes and brother, George Holmes III.

He was born November 10, 1937 to Alfred and Ruth (Ray) Goldesberry in Braymer, Missouri.

Marion married Shirley Helton on July 4, 1956; she passed in 2014

He was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Royals.

Marion enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Survivors include children, Sabrina Gwaltney (Herb) and James Goldesberry (Ambria King); and grandson, Bryson Goldesberry.

Garry Dale Weyer was born July 13, 1944 and departed this plane at age 75 on February 1, 2020. Garry was of the Christian faith and was born and lived his life in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He attended Neely Grade School and graduated from Lafayette High School and attended St. Joseph Junior College.

Garry was a vetran of the Vietnam War and served in the Navy.

He was employed at MeadWestvaco for nearly 38 years, where he worked in the shipping and receiving department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis C, and Hazel E. (Hunt) Weyer, and his wife of 18 years, Willa Jean Weyer. Garry was also preceeded in death by his sisters, Lilah Dean and Louise Stout; brothers, Lawrence, Loyd, Charles and Jerry; daughter, Jean Danette Hardy; and great grandson, Sebastian Gray.

Garry is survived by stepdaughter, Jackie D. Patton; stepson, Jerry D. Patton; great granddaughters, Tina, Jeanette and Kathlene; great granddaughters Savannah, Serenity, Shayla and Jaide, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Ray was an associate member of the American Legion, served on the Sumner Cemetery Board, coached youth soccer and was a member of the McDonald’s Coffee Club. He enjoyed working on cars, playing pitch and cards, and especially his family.

He was married to Linda Domann on Feb. 1, 1975. Linda survives of the home. Rose Mary Tuley was born on June 13, 1924 in Muscotah, KS the daughter of Frank C. and Bertha B. (Delfelder) Tuley. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1942. Rose Mary was the first cook for the hot lunch program at the Effingham Elementary School, beginning in the 1955-56 school year. In 1966 the school district unified all elementary schools and she prepared meals for all of them at Effingham Grade School. In 1976 she moved to the high school as the kitchen manager. In 1977 she became the supervisor for the district and retired in 1986. Rose Mary was made an Honorary Member of the ACCHS Future Farmers Association. She was a member of the Effingham Union Church, was an active member of Areme Chapter#231 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Effingham. She served several times as Worthy Matron and was District Aid of District # 2, in 1968-69. Rose Mary was very involved with the growth of the Effingham Library through the Effingham Community Club. She served on the Library Board and worked at the library when needed. She and her husband Bob enjoyed camping and after their retirement, they traveled with their dog Tiger to Arizona for a warmer winter for several years.

She was married to Robert A. Barnett on Feb. 19, 1944 in Atchison Kansas. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2014. Survivors include two daughters; Lana Jo (Berry) Snyder, Deland, FL and Sherry (Jake) Vanderslice, Horton, KS , five grandchildren; Rachael, Kelli, Lucas, Sara and Emily, and eight great grandchildren. Her parents, husband Robert, a son Robert W. Barnett, and daughter, Mary Lou Barnett and a sister, Peggy Dryden preceded her in death.

John Henry Roberts Jr. 67, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. 

He was born May 15, 1952 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Ella and John Roberts Sr. He married Linda Russell on August 28, 1971 and she survives of the home. He held various jobs and worked at Herbert Brooner, Dolly Madison and BMD as a Mechanic. He loved Westerns, traveling, fishing, and going to Branson. He had lots of friends, and enjoyed spending time with family, and was involved in Special Olympics. 

John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Lucky and Jimmy Barnes, Marvin Roberts, and his sister, Virginia Walker. 

Survivors include, wife, Linda Kay Roberts of the home, daughter, Shelly Ann Roberts (Josh Smith, sons; John H. Roberts III, and wife Mary, and Ronald E. Delmas “Del” Burton, 66, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020.

He was born June 30, 1953 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Delmas graduated from Central High School. He worked at Quaker Oats for 20 + years, where he met many life-long friends. Delmas was a scuba diving instructor for over 20 years; in 1998 he earned his PADI Master Instructor Certificate. Over the years he shared his love of scuba diving with hundreds of students and other divers across the lakes of Southern Missouri and the Caribbean Sea.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Delmas was a musician and loved to play guitar and sing in front of his friends, family, and anyone who would listen.

He had a remarkable green thumb, loved his pet cats, watching movies, loved telling stories and jokes. Delmas loved spending time outdoors, boating, bird watching, having friends over for bonfires and watching the sunset on the lake with the love of his life, Joy. Most of all he loved spending time with friends and family whom he loved dearly.

Delmas was a loving son, brother, and best friend and will be missed by so many. He was an alright guy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold D. Burton.

Survivors include his loving companion, Joy Rock and her son, Jeff Rock; mother, Shirley Burton; siblings, Candy Burton (Jeannie, Darcy Burton (Nancy, Mark Burton (Joan, Scott Burton (Monica, Jay Burton (Heather, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was born at the St. Joseph Hospital in St. Joseph, MO on October 16, 1934 to Jessie (Redfern) DeShon and Max Clifton Deshon.

Clifton started school at Eureka Elementary School in Avenue City. He moved to St. Joseph in the 2nd grade where he attended Spring Branch Elementary. When Clifton was in 6th grade , the family moved to the Baker Farm in Clarksdale, where he graduated from Clarksdale High School in 1952. He attended St. Joseph Jr. College for one semester and then attended one semester at NWMSU in Maryville, Missouri.

Clifton and Beverly were engaged on February 14, 1955 and married on June 1, 1955. She preceded him in death July 12, 2010.

The family worked together on the dairy farm, raised crops and dairy herd.

Clifton ran for election as DeKalb County Circuit Clerk &amp; Recorder in 1991. He was elected for four terms and retired from the court house on December 31, 2006 at the age of 72.

Clifton continued to stay active working around the farm and doing what he loved most; being with his family and helping his sons and grandsons with their farm work.

He enjoyed caring for his miniature ponies, camping, napping in front of the woodstove and playing with his great-grandchildren. He loved to have friends and family come to his house to visit. Clifton loved to dance and did so every chance he could get.

He was a member of the Huffman United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Cosby Lodge, and the Scottish Rite, was on various boards, DeKalb County Democrats and was a Superintendent of the Clarksdale United Methodist Church.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include sons, Jeffrey DeShon (Glenda, David DeShon (Jo, Mark DeShon (Glenda, Bradley DeShon (Gale, Paul DeShon; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister Maxine Goff (Ron); numerous nieces and nephews.

Virgil Wayne Fimple 76, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. 

He was born September 11, 1943, son of Mary and Virgil Fimple. He attended Benton High School, and later served in the U.S. Army. Virgil worked at Seitz and later Sara Lee, retiring early due to health. Virgil was an avid car man, having built several hot rods. He enjoyed customizing and showing them. He also enjoyed his family and time spent with them. 

He was preceded in death by father, Virgil William Fimple, and mother, Mary Lois Fimple. 

Survivors include: his daughter, Nicci Fimple and fiance Jeremy Huse, of St. Joseph, and his 3 grandchildren, Amiya, Owen Wayne, and Harper.

Barbara Kay Chamberlain, 66, St.Joseph, Missouri; passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care with her loving family and best friend by her side.&nbsp;

Barbara was born on December 18th, 1953 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, the youngest of four children to Mary Ellen (Price) Whitt and Estes Whitt.&nbsp;

Barbara worked as a Care Giver and a Homemaker to her wonderful family for the majority&nbsp;of her life.&nbsp;

Barbara was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Cameron,&nbsp; Missouri.&nbsp;

Barbara loved watching sports and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, additionally; she enjoyed taking breathtaking photos of scenic views, and her gorgeous family members. Above all, family and friends were most important to her. She was such a proud mother and loving daughter, grandmother, and friend&nbsp;to so many. The lives she touched and impacted with her unconditional&nbsp;love from the moment you met her will forever be missed.&nbsp;

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings,sister; Sandy Pankey, and brother; Rick Whitt.&nbsp;

Survivors include her three wonderful children; son, James Maddock and spouse Jenna Buhman, son;&nbsp; David Chamberlain, and spouse Courtney (Boner, Chamberlain, and; daughter Jessica Chamberlain. Additionally, five grandchildren; Madison Maddock, Kymper Chamberlain, Louden Chamberlain, Ryker Chamberlain,and Eli Meadows,sister Carolyn Smith and lifelong best friend Vicki Fraze.

Although Barbara's life story has been written and complete. The story of her legacy has just gotten started. Barbara was able to donate her organs -- another unselfish way to always help others in need; her way of life was always to help others.&nbsp;

Barbara's family would like to thank the amazing group of caregivers that worked so hard to try and save Barbara's life for her duration and courageous battle to cancer. Your Professionalism, care and love will never be forgotten by her family.&nbsp;

Barbara's desire was not to hold a service in lieu of her life. Barbara's memories and life long compassion will remain forever in everyone's hearts and memories. A small gathering will be held for at a later date in lieu of her journey of life.&nbsp;

On January 27, 2020, Justin Michael Grabhorn went to meet the Lord at the age of 29 years.

Justin was born on October 10, 1990 at Marysville, KS to Philip and Barbara Grabhorn. He grew up in Belleville, KS and Edgar, NE. He graduated high school at Sandy Creek in Fairfield, NE in 2009. He went onto college and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Technology at Central Community College in Hastings, NE in 2011. He was currently employed at Wenger Mfg in Sabetha, KS.

Justin had a passion for all cars and trucks, old and new, and loved going to car shows with his parents. He had a great love of music of all types, sharing that passion with his sister and dad. Justin had a very close bond with his mom, knowing that he could turn to her whenever he had an issue. He loved late night TV show watching with his sister. He had a love for sports, both college and professional- rooting for the NE Cornhuskers, KC Chiefs, KC Royals, KState football and KU basketball. He had a love for video games as well. Justin will be deeply missed by his parents, Philip and Barbara Grabhorn and his sister Megan Grabhorn (Eric Luce). He is also survived by his grandparents William and Cheryl Yungeberg and Sylvia Grabhorn, all of Waterville, KS. As well as cousins, aunts and uncles, friends and co workers. The interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Raytown, Missouri.

He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1999. He graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School Seminary in Hannibal, Missouri in 2002, and Conception Seminary College in Conception, Missouri in 2006, and Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri in 2010. He was ordained to the Catholic priesthood on May 29, 2010, and celebrated his first mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri. His first assignment was at St. Therese Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri. In 2012, he was appointed pastor of St. James Catholic Church in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was studying canon law at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He enjoyed rock climbing, traveling, being a Royals fan, learning French, and spending time with his family. More than anything, he loved being a priest, and spent every moment striving to grow ever closer to Our Lord. His greatest joy was serving the people of his parish and the church.

Penelope "Penny" Keck, 81, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 at her home. 

She was born February 21, 1938 in Chicago, IL, daughter of Ann and Frank Jacobs. She married Edgar "Ed" Keck on March 21, 1984. Penny was very crafty, she specifically enjoyed painting, crocheting, and making stained glass. Penny was a proud mother, loving wife, best friend, and a Domestic Goddess. 

Penny was preceded in death by father, Frank Jacobs, mother, Ann Jacobs, and son, Michael Young. 

Survivors include, husband, Edgar "Ed" Keck of St. Joseph, daughter, Vicki Young of St. Joseph, daughter, Terri (Brian) Thibodeaux of Ingleside, TX, son, Donald Young of Lockport, IL, son, Darrin (Marie) Young of Romeoville, IL, son, Christopher (Jeanine) Young of Lockport, IL, daughter, Margaret Young of Lockport, IL, step-son, Tony (Rachel) Thompson of MO, brother, Matthew Hartosh of St. Joseph, sister, Roxanne Jacobs of Midlothian, IL, 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, January 31, 2020 at Rupp Funeral Home, Rev. Roger Lenander officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Bethel Cemetery, DeKalb, MO. Memorials are requested to an organization of the donors choice.&nbsp;

Billy Dale "Bill" Marcell 87 years young, died Saturday, January 25, 2020, at his home. 

He was born March 6, 1932, to Timothy J. and Jessie May (Myer) Marcell in St. Joseph, Missouri. He attended Moore School. He married Glenna June Messner on April 6, 1968. She preceded him in death, January 30, 1990. Bill joined the Army in April 1954. His headquarters were in Verdun, France. He returned to the family farm, south of St. Joseph in 1956, where he engaged in farming until his health deteriorated. He was a charter member of the Community Christian Church and Southside Rotary Club. 

Bill is survived by two nieces, Brenda (Charles) Cline and Cheryl (Roger) Payne, a great niece, Julia (Doug) Chambers, two great nephews, Jay (Tammy) Hogan and Ryan Payne, numerous great-great nieces and nephews, a host of friends, and his beloved dogs, Punkin, Benzi and Buddy.&nbsp;

 The family suggests memorial gift to Friends of the Animal Shelter or donor' s choice in care of Rupp Funeral Home.
