Jessica Guy, 29, of Robinson, Kansas passed away on Tuesday April 6th, 2021 succumbing to brain cancer after a courageous battle.

The daughter of Scott Guy and Paula Guy (Crespi), she was born July 21st, 1991 in Hiawatha, Kansas. She lived in Robinson for most of her life, attending Hiawatha Schools and graduating in 2009. She worked at the Pines in Hiawatha as a certified nurse assistant, where she was able to lend her caring spirit in many ways.

Jessica was a loving and compassionate person who loved to be silly and mischievous. This mother hen was full of life with an amazing amount of empathy, the ability to cheer anyone up, and could keep the peace in impossible situations. She treated everyone that crossed her path with kindness, put others before herself, and helped anyone who crossed her path.

What is not to love about a woman who loved her family and friends – almost as much as she loved Mike’s hard lemonade, anything Disney, and sharing inappropriate jokes.

We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Jessica during her short 29 years, among them: Halloween candy is still edible well after a year, miracle whip belongs in everything, all conversations require large amounts of sarcasm, and life is short so live it to the fullest.

Jessica is survived by her father, Scott Wayne Guy, mother Paula Jean Guy (Crespi), brother Kyle Thomas Guy, and sister Lillian Estelle Guy. She is also survived by her fraternal grandmother Elsie Guy, her maternal grandparents John and Barbara Crespi, a large extended family, and many surrogate children.

Jessica is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Kenneth Guy, her uncle Alan Guy, and cousin Amanda Knowlton.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 17th, followed by Funeral Services beginning at 2:00 pm at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home.&nbsp; Interment will immediately follow going to Rose Hill Cemetery in Robinson, Kansas.

Friends call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday, and after 10 a.m. Saturday.

She was born June 5, 1932 in Mable, Missouri to Purl and Agnes (Bell) Dumm.

Nellie married Kenneth E. Keller December 23, 1951. He preceded her in death June 25, 1967.

She worked at Quaker Oats for 23 years.

Nellie enjoyed bingo, garage sales, gardening, watching her hummingbirds, and spending time with her family.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Rickey Keller; granddaughter, Lorrie Peden; parents; brothers, Albert, George, Carl Dumm; sister, June Rice.

Virginia V. Patton, 100, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021.

She was born August 12, 1920 in Easton, Missouri, to Herbert and Elsie (Wyatt) Vogel. Her mother preceded her in death, and she was raised by Herbert and Margaret Vogel.

Virginia graduated from Easton High School in 1937 and attended Platte-Gard Business School for one year.

On September 28, 1943, she married John David Patton. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1984. After marriage, she worked with her husband on the family farm.

She worked for 10 years at Westab, and was treasurer for the Avenue City R-9 School for 20 years. She also volunteered for the Rolling Hills Regional Library for 25 years. She held various offices with the United Methodist Women.

Virginia loved to travel and loved her garden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; stepmother; brother, William Vogel; and sister, Joyce Vogel.

Survivors include daughter, Connie Patton; son, Jerald Patton (Dorothy); brother, Stanley Vogel (Maurine); four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by husband, Glen Roberts, her parents, son, Darrell Roberts, grandson, Shawn Griffin, brothers, Donald, Vernon, Irvin, James, and Lloyd Roberts, sisters, Annetta Richards, Doris Pritchett, and Luella Leslie.

Melanie Gay Mosher, 59 of St. Joseph,&nbsp; went to her heavenly home on April 4, 2021. Melanie was born March 23, 1962 in St. Joseph to George and Helen (Meers) Mosher.&nbsp;

She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and had worked as a title clerk with REED Automotive Group, formerly Car City.

She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and caring for her family.&nbsp; She was so kind, always doing things for others.&nbsp; Her last act of kindness was the gift of life through organ donation.

Melanie was preceded in death by her dad George and brother Jason.

Survivors include her mother Helen; son Robbie Pfleiderer (Amanda); daughter Hannah Pfleiderer (Cody); grandsons Cody, Parker, Benjamin, and Boston; as well as her newest addition granddaughter Baylee; sister Tracy Whorton; niece Jessica (Ryan); nephew Jonathan (Brandi) and their families; many cousins and extended family.

Longtime retired educator Harry Dale Tatum, 89, of Hiawatha, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021.

He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, April 14, 1931.&nbsp; He attended schools in Highland and Hiawatha, graduating in 1949.&nbsp; He joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict from 1952 until being discharged in 1956.

Harry Dale married Betty LaCounte in San Diego, July 23, 1954, returning to Hiawatha shortly after being discharged where upon he attended and graduated from Highland Junior College, prior to Emporia State Teachers College. He was active in all sports in high school and Highland College. Harry and Betty made Robinson and Hiawatha their home most of their married life and blest with children:&nbsp; Lynette, twin sons:&nbsp; Pat and Kirby.&nbsp; She passed away April 26, 2006.

Harry taught biology and earth science for 28 years in Robinson and Hiawatha High School, and at one time or another, spent coaching most sports, with basketball being his love.&nbsp; Students loved his classes, being very creative to keep their attention.&nbsp;

To say he was an avid golfer, was an understatement!&nbsp; Another love of his was music.&nbsp; He sang in a Barbershop Quartet for a number of years, along with spending a lot of time singing with the family while traveling on vacations.&nbsp; Harry was a colorful individual, sometimes no filter, quick wit and dry sense of humor with laughter being the best medicine.

Survivors include his children Lynette Grier, Pat &amp; Kirby Tatum; and six grandchildren.&nbsp; He will be missed by all who knew him.

Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha after 10 a.m. Friday where the family will meet with friends from 5 until 7 p.m. that evening.

A Celebration of Harry Dale’s life is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at the funeral home, with Malcolm Grier officiating.&nbsp; Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha, with military honors a courtesy of the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard.

Nina Marie Bouge, 84, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021.

She was born November 30, 1936 to Morris and Birdie (DeWeese) Cline of DeKalb, Missouri.

On June 19, 1954 Nina married Harold Lloyd Bouge. They were blessed with three children.

She graduated from DeKalb High School Class of 1954. Nina retired from the Bank of Missouri after 29 years of service. Since 2007, she has volunteered at Mosaic Life Care and has dedicated over 8,800 hours to their mission. Nina and Harold are the oldest charter members of the Community Christian Church of St. Joseph.

Nina was preceded in death by her parents; and brother A.J. Cline. Survivors include her husband, Harold; children, Dennis (Marla) and Carl (Peggy) Bouge, and Rita (Brad) Johnston; grandchildren, Nathan Bouge (Megan Hayes), Amber (Jeff) McKnight, Drew (Andrew) Roeder-Bouge, Courtney Dykes, Jackson and Walker Johnston; great-grandchildren, Gavin Bouge, Ella, Hailey and Jackson McKnight, Tritan Dykes; siblings, Marceas, Eugene, Betty, Martha, Raymond, Susie and Herb.

Gilbert Lee “Buzz” Burnham, 87, St. Joseph, Missouri, surrounded at home by family went to be with the Lord on April 5th, 2021.

Buzz was born January 25, 1934 to F. Gilbert and Frances (Beasley) Burnham in St. Joseph, Missouri. On July 12, 1974 he married Jeanie J. Shroyer. Between them they were blessed with five children. Buzz graduated from Central High School in 1951, serving as Senior Class President, and the University of Missouri in 1955. He was an owner of Burnham, Simpson, Colman &amp; McMurray Insurance Agency for over twenty years, retiring in 1991. He was past president of the St. Joseph Lion’s Club, Missouri Golf Association, and the Great American Insurance Agents Association. He was an Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #40, past board member of the St. Joseph Country Club and served as a past chairman of YMCA membership drives. Buzz was a member of Grace Evangelical Church.

He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting and became proficient in duplicate bridge. He and Jeanie enjoyed traveling with family and they had numerous adventures over the years. They journeyed to Africa-fishing for tiger fish, Brazil-fishing for peacock bass, Australia, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Scotland, Ireland as well as many other locations.

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include his wife, Jeanie; children, Robin Larkin (Terry), Scott (Maria), Keith (Heather), Kent(Amelia)and Stacy Bye; brothers, Monty (Wendy) and Jim (Janeen); grandchildren, Jacob &amp; Dustin Larkin, Scottie &amp; Tyler Burnham, Ryan Fike, Ally and Bryce Burnham &amp; Dylan Bye; nine great-grandchildren; numerous friends and family.

The family will gather with friends Friday, April 9, 2021 from 2:00 to 3:00PM at Grace Evangelical Church followed by a celebration of Buzz’s life and Public Livestream at 3:00PM. There will be a private family interment at Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Louann Fowler Erickson, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri, surrounded by her family, went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2021. She was born May 10, 1942 to Frank and Bobbie Lee (Patterson) Fowler in Dallas, TX.

She was a member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church, the Sparta Ladies Service Group and Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.

Louann was a proud Texan that loved the yellow rose, red birds and convertibles. More than anything, she loved spending time with family and watching her grandchildren play sports.

She dedicated over thirty years to the nursing profession. Louann worked as a Registered Nurse at Methodist Hospital, Citadel Health Care, Carriage Square, the State Hospital (later known as Northwest Missouri Psychiatric and Rehabilitation Center) and later teaching Certified Nurses Aid classes at Hillyard Vocational Technical School.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Laurinda Lee Erickson; and brothers, Frank and Curtis Dean Fowler.

Survivors include her children, Chris Erickson (Patrice) of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, Leslie Crockett (Alan) of DeKalb, Missouri and Julie King (Kevin Hulett) of St. Joseph, Missouri; grandchildren, Christopher Erickson, Hunter Crockett (Katie), Ezekiel Erickson, Rylee Crockett, Matias Erickson, Cade King, Alexina Erickson and Jazlyn King; great-grandkids, Haisley and Dylan Crockett; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and beloved cats.

He was born July 2, 1936 in Wheatland, Missouri, to Homer and Irene (Pearson) Jordan.

He married Kaye Francis Diggs on May 22, 1957. She survives of the home.

William was very proud of his 30-plus years of work at Hillyard. He also was very much a family person, and enjoyed taking trips to Branson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary DiMaggio. Survivors include his wife, Kaye; son, William E. Jordan, Jr. (Rose); daughters, Teresa Atkins and Lora Watts; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Lorne Jordan (Linda); sister, Ethel Siegfreid (Bruce); numerous nieces and nephews.

She was born August 8, 1956 in Jamestown, ND, daughter of Ilene and Delton Hieb. Pam's hobbies included cooking, shopping, and gardening. She was a member of the North Church of God. 

Pamela was preceded in death by her parents, step-son, Eric Waggoner, and sister, Rhoda Moser. 

Survivors include: her companion of 29 years, Charles "Chuck" Waggoner of the home, brother, Kim Hieb, step-daughter, Crystal Waggoner of St. Joseph, grandchildren, Shayla Throckmorton, Haiden Waggoner, and Quinton Waggoner, great-grandchildren, Ma'teah Throckmorton and Re'marie Throckmorton, and several nieces and nephews.

&nbsp; Valerie Barbara Paquette 78, of St Joseph, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. 

She was born June 26, 1942 in Wiesbaden, Germany, daughter of Anni Christ and Helmut Fischer. She graduated high school and attended Dental Hygienist School. While attending school, she met her future husband Richard while he was serving in the U.S. Army, whom she married on October 31, 1963 in Germany. Valerie loved watching sports, especially golf, attending activities with her grandchildren, and cooking for her family. She was also one of the greatest listeners to anyone that needed to talk. She was a member of Cathedral of St. Joseph Catholic Church. 

Valerie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Paquette in 2008, and her 4 sisters. 

Survivors include: her children, Shirley Dougherty (James Grams) of Tulsa, OK, Brian Paquette of Milford, DE, and Michelle (Eric) Worsham of St Joseph, 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was born December 19, 1974 in Atchison, Kansas, son of Gayle and Wayne Wilson. He graduated from Benton High School. Mikey has worked at Motel 6 for the past 3 years, and National Beef for 7 years. He enjoyed playing softball, loved music, and working on cars. 

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Gayle Lynn Wilson. 

He is survived by father, Wayne and step-mother Cindy Wilson of St. Joseph, his companion of 6 years, Nena Hobson of St. Joseph, children, Brandon (Telara) Wilson of St Joseph, Shelby (Zack) Beaman of St. Joseph, Nicole (Zach) George-Anderson of St. Joseph, Ryan Wilson of St. Joseph, step-children, Christian Glidewell and Cloe Hobson, brother, Steven (Shandra) Polley of Sioux City, IA, sister, Jeannie (Paul) Knowles of St. Joseph, maternal grandmother, Jan Merritt of Atchison, KS, paternal grandparents, Gordon and Betty Wilson of St. Joseph, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Andrew Alan Hixson, 34, of Mission, KS, died Saturday, April 3, 2021.&nbsp; Andrew was born December 3, 1986 in Kansas City, MO, to Glen Alan and Lisa Marie (Geraci) Hixson.

Andrew was in software security for Navex Global for a number of years.

Andrew was in a loving relationship and his friends were very important to him.&nbsp; He was an avid golfer, a huge Nebraska Husker fan, and loved all sports.&nbsp; He was very social and could quote one-liners from many movies.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He was a strong advocate for organ donation.

Survivors include his mother Lisa Meola (Gregory); father Glen Hixson (Kathy); sister Jennifer Hixson Rogers (Landen); four step-sisters Lisa Burwell, Becca Ketterer (Ben) Bethany Burk (Sean), Melissa Cureton (Casey); several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Andrew will be missed by all who loved him.

Andrew Alan Hixson, 34, of Mission, KS, died Saturday, April 3, 2021.&nbsp; Andrew was born December 3, 1986 in Kansas City, MO, to Glen Alan and Lisa Marie (Geraci) Hixson.Andrew was in software security for Navex Global for a number of years.Andrew was in a loving relationship and his friends were very important to him.&nbsp; He was an avid golfer, a huge Nebraska Husker fan, and loved all sports.&nbsp; He was very social and could quote one-liners from many movies.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He was a strong advocate for organ donation.Survivors include his mother Lisa Meola (Gregory); father Glen Hixson (Kathy); sister Jennifer Hixson Rogers (Landen); four step-sisters Lisa Burwell, Becca Ketterer (Ben) Bethany Burk (Sean), Melissa Cureton (Casey); several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.Andrew will be missed by all who loved him.Memorial contributions may be made to M.A.D.D. She worked in healthcare for home health.

Sheila Sue Koelliker, 75, of Horton, surrounded by her family, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday April 2nd, 2021.

&nbsp;Sheila was born March 5th, 1946 in Horton, to Robert K Brook and Dorothy Jacques Brook. She was raised on a farm near Willis. She graduated with the class of 1964, in Willis, KS.

She married the love of her life, Stanley Koelliker, December 18th 1965. She poured her heart into being a mother and homemaker for the majority of her life. She was a part-time secretary for her husband at the Skelly Getty Texaco. After most of her children were raised, she went to work for Lutheran social services in Topeka, KS as a family support worker. She was able to have such a huge impact for so many families during that time. She also taught MAPP classes for prospective foster and adopted families. Sheila enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Over the years she made countless blankets, booties, and other items for her grandchildren and others. If a pregnancy was announced, you knew she was busy with her craft!

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Oct. 6, 2018, parents, grandparents, and a grandson London Koelliker, Sept. 19, 2012.

&nbsp;Survivors include daughters: Wendy Koelliker, Raina Koelliker, Gipsy and Jim Boone, Brooke and Ethan Grier, Sunshine and Aaron Crismas, Summer and Chad Goben, Megan Beery Koelliker, Dionne Carter, Karen and Justin Ferney, and Dot and Pat Clements. Sons include: Shawn Koelliker, Dustin Koelliker, Jeremy and Susan Koelliker, Kevin Koelliker, Cody Koelliker, Art and Cindy Koelliker, Donnie Koelliker, Marshall Koelliker, Thomas Koelliker, Brad Koelliker, and Jaxton Koelliker, as well as 72 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

She also leaves behind an extended family in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, including Marco and Sylvia Guzman and their three daughters: Camilla, Sarah, and Valentina, from her numerous trips of vacation and missionary work.&nbsp;

A Celebration of Sheila’s life is planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 9 at the First Baptist Church in Horton.&nbsp; Masks and social distancing of 4’ is requested by the Church.&nbsp;&nbsp; Pastor John Kress will officiate.&nbsp;&nbsp; Interment will follow at Claytonville Cemetery

Elaine C. Siskey, 95, of St. Joseph, Missouri, having formerly lived in Sunflower, KS while her husband attended KU and Richmond, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care.

She was born August 9, 1925 to George and Violet (Maiden) Matthews in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Elaine married Rudolph “Rudy” Siskey, her Lafayette High School sweetheart on August 12, 1947.

She and her husband loved traveling the world after their retirement. She was an accomplished artist. She and Rudy met monthly for lunch with members of their 1943 Lafayette graduating class.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 70 years; her parents; brothers, Emerson and Charles Matthews, and their wives; and her niece, Cindy Fleming.

Survivors include son, Chip Siskey (Peggy) of Platte City, Missouri; daughter, Janie Simon (Rod) of Sahuarita, Arizona; grandchildren, Christoper Simon (Christy), Kyle Simon (Dana), Alex Breitenbach (Elissa), Emily and Elizabeth Siskey; great-grandchildren, Eric and Kellen Simon; sister-in-law, Mary Frances Anderson; five nephews and two nieces.

Martin “Marty” Marks, 59, Bigelow, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021.

He was born in Sioux City, Iowa on June 27, 1961 to Robert and Judith (Brubaker) Marks.

Marty married Michele Humphrey on June 1, 1985. She survives of the home.

He was a wildlife biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation for 35 years.

Marty was an avid hunter and fisherman and belonged to the Boone and Crockett Club. He also enjoyed fly-tieing.

He was a loving, caring husband and father, who enjoyed spending time with his family.

Marty was always willing to help others.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert.

Survivors include his wife, Michele; son, Zachary; daughter, Mackenzie; mother, Judy; and brother, Merle Marks (Becky).
