Cami Marie Ramirez 53, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday April 18, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. 

She was born January 11, 1967 in St. Joseph, Missouri daughter of the late Edith &amp; Edgar Parker. She worked at Saxton Nursing home as a CNA &amp; CMT. 

Cami is survived by sons Cameron and Brandon Parker, brothers, Randy (Susan, William and Ronald Parker, and sister, Haddie Parker, and four grandchildren.

Floy Jean Hitzelberger, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away Friday, April 17, 2020 at Riverside Place.

Floy was born on August 25, 1933 in Hardy, Arkansas to the late Guy and Flora (Powell) Lemasters. She was a high school graduate and moved to St. Joseph in 1943.

Floy was a homemaker and also worked as a seamstress and enjoyed babysitting in her home.

Floy was a member of Word of Life Church.&nbsp; She was a talented artist that enjoyed sketching, walking in nature and was a great cook.&nbsp; She loved the Lord and her family more than anything.

In addition to her parents, Floy was preceded in death by two brothers, Max and Orville Lemasters, sister, Alice Davis and two grandchildren, Jordon White and Erin Knight.

Survivors include her children, David Hitzelberger (Elaine, Robin White (David, Kelly Knight, Sherry Clark (Jim) and John Hitzelberger;&nbsp;&nbsp; ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; six sisters, Rose Foster (Bob, Lois Ochse (Charles, Shirley Berry (Charles, Daisy Middleton (Jim, Donna Rian (Eddie) and Linda Swope

Shirley A. Simmons, 75, of Highland, a loving mother, friend and retired nurse, died of cancer April 15, 2020 in Wathena KS.&nbsp;

Shirley is survived by sisters: Kennetta Slavin and Vicki (Lonnie) Gray; Children: Wayne Simmons, Gloria Simmons, Lori Simmons and Jerry (Samantha) Simmons; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren with one on the way.&nbsp;

&nbsp;She was preceded in death by parents:&nbsp; Kenneth Hobbs, Doris Phillips Hobbs, daughter Ruth Ann Simmons, son Kyle Simmons and grandson Jeremy Tilton.

Shirley was born April 3, 1945 in St. Joseph MO. Attended Elwood schools.&nbsp;

At age 21 she got her GED. After working many jobs she got into the medical field becoming a CNA, certificate restorative aide, and home health aide. In 1989 she went on to become an LPN.

Shirley's values were strong: Love the Lord with all your heart, put blood family first and respect others.&nbsp;

Her favorite quote is "Remember in the darkness what He taught you in the light"

Growing up she went with family every Friday to Murphy's to eat cat fish. She said it was the best in town.

At age 67 she took a trip with her sister Vicki and family and Jerry and family to go white water rafting. She enjoyed every minute of it.&nbsp;

She loved chocolate and coffee. Milky Way candy bars were her choice and at one time was up to 52 cups of coffee a day.

Her favorite movie was To Kill A Mockingbird; book: the Bible and "Come Share The Being" Dance: jitterbug; youth singer Elvis; Group: LAMB; song "Holy Water"&nbsp;

Shirley wants everyone to remember she loved the Lord and her family more than anything.

Private family services were held April 20, 2020, at the Highland Cemetery.

Anne Campbell Johnson, 96, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2020.

Anne married Marvin Johnson November 10,1951. He preceded her in death April 16, 1996.

She was a member of the HY Chapter of PEO, Runcie Club, Mensa International, Zeta Tau Alpha, AAUW. Anne was also a Board member of the St. Joseph Historical Society and served as a Deacon and Elder at many Presbyterian Churches including Westminster and Trinity in St. Joseph.

Anne graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois with a Major in Mathematics, Minors in Chemistry and Spanish. Then she later obtained her Masters in Secondary Administration from the University of Iowa.

Anne considered herself a professional substitute teacher in Mathematics, Science, French, and Spanish.

Survivors include children, Douglas, Harold, Phyllis, Nighram, Melissa, and Hanifa; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister, Marion Boyd; extended family and friends.

She was born November 9, 1944 to Grover and Bessie (Bias) Linder.

Connie attended Edison grade school and graduated Central High School. She was a member of the CHS National Honors Society. Connie graduated from Methodist Medical Center in 1965. After graduation she worked for the University of Missouri Medical Center; later she returned to St. Joseph, Missouri and work at Methodist Medical Center. In 1977 Connie started working for the city of St. Joseph as a public health nurse. She felt public health was her true calling in nursing. In 1990 Connie was selected as a Woman of Excellence. Later she was honored as one of the twenty-five People Who Made a Difference by the Newspress. Connie served on numerous committees, advisory boards, and Board of Directors, some of which included Headstart, United Cerebral Palsy, American Red Cross, Division of Family Services, Women’s Chamber of Commerce. She served on the Board of Deacons and the Session of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Connie was a Sunday school teacher in the 1970’s, she served as president of the Local Chapter of the American Nurses Association. Connie was a former president of Skaith PTA. She frequently served as a room mother during her children’s school years. Connie volunteered at Mark Twain and Brookdale Church for many years.

She attended Sunday school at Wyatt Park Baptist Church and attended services at First Presbyterian Church.

Connie married Robert Dyche September 4, 1965, they later divorced. On April 17, 1975 she married James Bonebrake and divorced in 1999.

She loved to cook and bake meals for her family, friends, and co-workers. Connie was an active snow skier for over ten years and belonged to the Kansas City Ski Club. She was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals fan. Connie loved rock and roll music. She enjoyed writing poetry and short stories; even took classes in creative writing at MWSC.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Matthew Bonebrake; infant daughter, Karie Dyche; brothers, Thomas, Mike, and Mark Linder.

Survivors include her children, Kate Acord (James, Jeff Bonebrake; grandchildren, Kaylie Stams, Tristan Acord, Colin, Maeci, and Adelyn Bonebrake; brother, Pat Linder (Sandy, extended family and friends.

Farewell Services and Gathering will be held at a later date. Inurnment Ashland Cemetery. Judith Lee Osborne was born on March 24, 1945 in Augusta, Maine, the daughter of Ralph and Beatrice (Davies) Osborne. She graduated from High School and attended college in the Augusta area. Judy worked as a librarian for the Legislative Law Library in Augusta.

Survivors include a son, Kerry (Brenda) Lambert, Atchison; daughter, Kim Lambert, Augusta; three grandchildren, Beatrice and Tyler Lambert, Atchison and Kami Lambert, Augusta; brothers, Alan, Sookie, and Dana; sister, Jackie.

She was born March 6, 1936 in Marshfield, MO, daughter of the late Laura and Earl Welch. She graduated from Lafayette High School class of 1954. Shirley married James B McAsey Sr. on April 30, 1959. She worked at Southwestern Bell as a Telephone operator for 19 years retiring in 1979. She was Catholic and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James, son, James B. McAsey Jr., daughter, Laura Whitley, sisters, Margaret Peate, and Arletha Hawkins, brothers, John, David, Clarence, Hugh, Bobbie, and George Welch. 

Survivors include, daughter, Linda (Carl) Kerns, four grandchildren: Michael (Ashley) Kerns, Jaime R. Landers, William (Melissa) Whitley, and James "Buster" (Jordanna) Whitley, 9 great-grandchildren, Emma, Seth, Karsyn, Benjamin, Hudson, Grayson, Rhylann, Brody, and Emeri, sister in laws: Jerri McAsey, and Nancy Herbert, and several nieces and nephews.

Patricia Marie Torres-Mesino, 69, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday April 16, 2020 at her home. 

She was born February 9, 1951 in St. Joseph, Missouri daughter of Natividad "Nettie" &amp; Jose Torres. She graduated from Leblond High School, class of 1969 and worked at Wal-Mart Patricia enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. 

Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Jose Torress, mother, Natividad "Nettie" Torres, sisters, Carmen Marie Torres, Matilda "Tillie" Davis, Genevieve "Jennie" Mozier and Dorothy King. 

She is survived by daughter, Lesley (Michael) Gill of Norwalk, IA, son, John Fostek Jr. of St. Joseph, daughter, Laura Fostek of St. Joseph, sister, Margaret Wilson, six grandchildren, Zane, Michael, and David Homan, Jakob Gill, Ayden Lollar and Selena Fostek, great-grandson, Carson Hutton and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paula Marie (Ott) Segrest, 67, of rural Hiawatha, died Monday morning, April 13, 2020, at her home.

Paula was born at Hiawatha, August 20, 1952, the only child born to Dr. J.W. and Oneita Ott and had lived in Hiawatha nearly all of her life where she graduated from Hiawatha High School.&nbsp; She also graduated from Highland Junior College with an associate degree in business.&nbsp;

Paula was one of the first EMT’s in Hiawatha, working for Frank Davis for Town &amp; Country Ambulance Service.&nbsp; She also worked for Stuart Lay surveying for a short time. Paula enjoyed working as the records clerk for the Brown County Sheriff Dept. for over 26 years, before retiring, and considered everyone there her extended family.&nbsp;

Paula took up several causes through the years with her being very dedicated to the Brown County Humane Society, and Brown County Genealogical Society.&nbsp; Paula grew up in the Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha.&nbsp; One of the things she enjoyed was visiting Mustang Island, Texas in 2008.

She married Ronald Haze Segrest February 2, 1991 in Hiawatha.&nbsp; They lived just outside Hiawatha where they have several dogs/cats and ponies to take care of for the Humane Society, and loved every minute of it.&nbsp; He survives.

Survivors include her daughters:&nbsp; Niki (Jason) Tollefson and Erin (Jesse) Hughes.&nbsp; Also surviving are her 5 grandchildren:&nbsp; Kyle and Kade Tollefson, and Dawson, Taylor and Kaitlyn Hughes, all of Hiawatha.

Private graveside services were held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.&nbsp; Pastor Rich Lehmkuhl officiated.

Frederick Allen Petesch, 57, Lincoln, NE, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2020, with his wife by his side after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Fred was born June 11, 1962 in Salina, KS, the son of John and Cratis Petesch. He graduated from Atchison High School in 1981. He served in the United States Army for three years and then contracted with the Army for 35 years as a helicopter mechanic. Fred proudly worked beside soldiers maintaining military helicopters in Desert Storm, Bosnia and Iraqi Freedom. He lived in Germany for 20 years and learned to speak the language. He loved to share his travel stories. Fred ended his career in Lincoln, Nebraska working for the FFA as an Aviation Safety Inspector (Airworthiness) in what he called his dream job. There he was surrounded by amazing and wonderful people. Fred had a passion for flying since he was a boy and a successful career in aviation. He was a private pilot and a certified A&amp;P mechanic with an inspector authorization. An adrenaline junkie enjoying cycling, kite surfing, weight lifting and snowboarding, he had a very active life.

He is survived by his wife, Julie (Turner Lowe) of the home, his parents, John and Cratis Petesch, Easton, KS, siblings, Shirley (Joe) Catone, Texas, John Petesch, Horton, KS, Kathy (Lowell) Thornton, Topeka, KS, Coleenn (Gerald) Frans, St. Joseph, MO and several nieces and nephews.

Carol Jean Stanton, 66, of Agency, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at her home with her family at her side. 

She was born May 26, 1953 in St. Joseph, daughter of Bonnie and Jewel Noland. She graduated from Faucett High School, class of 1971. She married William "Bill" Stanton and worked at Quaker Oats, from where she retired after 28 years. She was a member of Agency Christian Church. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, gathering with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Carol will be remembered for her longstanding tradition of cooking and hosting Christmas Dinner. 

Carol was preceded in death by father, Jewel Noland, daughter, Infant Carrie Michelle Clark.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Warren Laukemper on June 23, 2010, parents Fern Thompson Talbot and John R. Thompson, sister Grace S. Stunz, two brothers, J.R. Thompson and Vodre (Tommy) Thompson.

Norma married John Warren Laukemper April 27, 1972.

Survivors include son Terry Turner (Julie, two grandchildren Aubrey Nicole Zimmerman (Bucky) and John Tyler Turner (Makynlee, three great-grandchildren Avery Jean, Amelia Ann and John Colt and niece Sharon Showalter.

Graveside services and interment 12:00 PM Friday, April 17th at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Nancy Arlene (Hunter) McIntosh&nbsp; 10-10-1955 to 4-11-2020

Nancy was born in Council Bluffs, IA to Harry Charles Hunter Sr. and Anna Mae (Chapin) Hunter on October 10, 1955.&nbsp; She was the only girl and youngest of six siblings.

She grew up in the Assemblies of God Church and loved God and her family more than anyone could ever know!

Through her life she was revered as many things including: a caring daughter, a loving wife, a devoted mother, a kind sister, an amazing grandmother (Nana / granny) and honorary family to many!

She was of the graduating class of 1973 at Thomas Jefferson High School of Council Bluffs Iowa and was a member of Future Nurses of America.

Her dream job at this point was to become a veterinarian.&nbsp;

Through her life Nancy did an array of work with the church and loved working with the youth.

In her younger years she worked in the dietary departments of nursing homes until she completed schooling to become a beautician at this point she worked for Dee's Beauty Barn of Council Bluffs Iowa until she began her favorite job of becoming a full time mother.

She is survived in death by: her husband, Roger Alan McIntosh, of Horton Kansas; her daughters, MaeBelle Marie McIntosh, of Sequim Washington and Elaine Elizabeth Ann (McIntosh) Moore and her husband Anthony Moore, of Hiawatha Kansas; her son, Benjamin Charles McIntosh and his husband William Jesse Snyder of Michigan Valley Kansas; her brother, Harry Charles Hunter and his wife Rosetta Louise (Lawson) Hunter of Calico Rock Arkansas; her step- mother, Barbara June (Jeffers) Hunter of Harbor City (Los Angeles) California, and four grand children, Abarie Anne Nicole McIntosh, Autum Rosealean Moore, Braxton Alynn Moore, and Callie RubyAnn Moore.

Nancy Arlene McIntosh  1955 - 2020

(LaVoris) "Maxine" Corbet (93, passed away peacefully Sunday (April 12, 2020) morning at Maple Heights Nursing Center in her hometown of Hiawatha, Kansas.&nbsp; Her daughter Carolyn Rosenberger was by her side, holding her hand, at the time of her passing.&nbsp;

Maxine was born on December 3, 1926, north of Hiawatha at the home of her parents Ernest and Beulah (Starrett) Jimeson.&nbsp; She attended the one room Hart Grade School and graduated from Reserve (Kan.) High School in 1944.&nbsp; While working as a soda jerk at Spaulding’s Drug Store in Hiawatha, she met a man whom everyone just called Kenny.&nbsp; On March 9, 1947, she married that man, Kenneth George Corbet, at the Reserve Christian Church.&nbsp; They would spend the next 55 years like two peas in a pod before Kenny passed away on August 18, 2002.&nbsp; Maxine and Kenny spent the first 20 years of their marriage on farms in northern and eastern Brown County before moving to Hiawatha in the spring of 1967, where she would spend the rest of her life.

With her husband Kenny working countless hours to provide for her and their six children – Steve, Jim, Debbie, Max, Alan and Carolyn – Maxine was the&nbsp;ROCK&nbsp;of the family.&nbsp; She created a loving atmosphere for her sons and daughters, and their many friends, which brought the greatest joy to her life.&nbsp; She was a mother who was always there to provide love, compassion, sympathy and hard knocks when needed.&nbsp;

One trait that always stood out was her cheerful and fun disposition, which endeared her to her grandchildren.&nbsp; Born happy, she left this world content. &nbsp;She was one who never took life too seriously, and that included herself.&nbsp; Growing up during the depression she learned to become one of the most resilient people a person would ever meet.&nbsp; While life would be throwing curve balls and hard balls her way, Maxine understood from an early age to keep swinging and eventually the hits would come her way.&nbsp; While times could be tough and some meals might consist of ham salad (bologna) sandwiches or macaroni and eggs with pork and beans, she was also a master chef who could always provide a full course meal at any time, and on time, for whomever stopped by.&nbsp;

Along with her full-time occupation of loving wife and mother, Maxine also found time to serve as a cook at Hiawatha High School.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was an active member of the Alta Vista Club, the Rainbow Club, the Red Hat Club, Eastern Star and many church circles.&nbsp; The Reserve Christian Church where she grew up, and the First United Methodist Church in Hiawatha where she worshiped her adult life, provided her with a solid foundation.&nbsp; Outside providing support at home for her devoted husband Kenny, the church is where Maxine volunteered countless hours.&nbsp; From helping prepare dinner for a grieving family, applying makeup and sewing clothes for the annual live nativity scene at Christmas, to just cleaning the kitchen and taking out the trash, the church is what inspired her.&nbsp; She passed this inspiration along to her family and many others.

Maxine is survived by her sons Steve Corbet (Judy) of Clearwater, Florida; Jim Corbet (Toni) of Biloxi, Mississippi; Max Corbet (Belinda) of Boise, Idaho; Alan Corbet (Tina) of Kansas City, Missouri; and daughters Debbie Heaton (Jim) of Dallas, Texas; and Carolyn Rosenberger (Richard) of Hiawatha.&nbsp; She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and her sister Mary Ann Hards (Delmar) of Everett, Washington.&nbsp;

She was preceeded in death by her husband Kenny, her parents Ernest and Beulah Jimeson, and sister Fran Owen (Tracy) of Seattle, Washington.

Friends may call at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha from 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday (April 19).&nbsp; &nbsp;A private graveside service will be held on Monday (April 20) at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha.

(LaVoris) "Maxine" Corbet (93, passed away peacefully Sunday (April 12, 2020) morning at Maple Heights Nursing Center in her hometown of Hiawatha, Kansas.&nbsp; Her daughter Carolyn Rosenberger was by her side, holding her hand, at the time of her passing.&nbsp;Maxine was born on December 3, 1926, north of Hiawatha at the home of her parents Ernest and Beulah (Starrett) Jimeson.&nbsp; She attended the one room Hart Grade School and graduated from Reserve (Kan.) He was a member of the Local Union# 101 Heavy Equipment Operators and enjoyed hunting, fishing, demolition derby cars, mushroom and bird hunting.

Survivors include his fiancé’, Shawn McNea, Effingham, KS, a son, Casey Fitzpatrick, Leavenworth, KS, a daughter, Chelsie (Cory) Brown, Olathe, KS, his father, Norman K. She was born June 19, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Geraldine and Charles Scott. She graduated from Convent of the Sacred Heart class of 1958 and married Robert Derc on October 30, 1961. She worked at American National Bank, and retired from the U.S. Bank as a bank teller. She enjoyed crocheting, and crafts, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carol was a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. 

She was preceded in death by husband, Robert "Bob" William Derc, and her parents.

Phyllis married Carl Damon on October 6, 1955.&nbsp; He passed away in 2016.

Jackson was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in St. Joseph, MO. He was also a beloved member of Alcoholics Anonymous and worked over 40 years helping others to get and maintain sobriety! 

Jackson was preceded in death by 1st wife Betty Jean Isaacs, 2nd wife Evelyn Ella Jordan-Isaacs, and his parents.

Wayne Walter Lemon, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away in his home April 9, 2020 at 77 after a long battle with cancer.

Wayne was born to John and Blanche (Tenney) Lemon on November 19, 1942 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.

Wayne and his family moved to St. Joseph when Wayne was three. He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1960. He attended St. Joseph Junior College.

In the 1960’s he started in the lumber business working for Garfield Lumber and later South Park Lumber. During this time he drew over 1200 house plans and a few of commercial buildings that were built in and around St. Joseph.

Wayne and his wife, Connie, were married on April 8, 1975 and enjoyed 45 years of marriage. They loved doing “everything” together whether it was traveling to all 50 states, doing home projects or hanging out with friends and family.

In 1984 he started G&amp;L Millwork, now known as Blue Tree Casework, which grew and eventually moved into the old Sears building on 22nd&nbsp;and Messanie. Wayne was best known for his amazing saxophone playing. He had a great love of sharing his music in numerous bands, at church and other venues that spanned over sixty years.

In 1995 he was named “20 Who Count” in St. Joseph. He served as a past board member of UCP, the Red Cross and on the executive committee for the Architectural Woodwork Institute.

His love for the Lord was nurtured through Brookdale Church, where he was a member for 40 years. He served as an Elder and participated in several mission trips as far away as Guatemala and Africa. He loved sharing his faith with the younger generation while being a Young Life leader at Central and Lafayette high schools.

It was often said of Wayne that he was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He had a warm, genuine and contagious smile. He will be missed beyond measure by his family and friends.

Wayne is survived by his wife; children; Cody (Kevin) Comeau, Corey L. (Caitlin) Lemon and Cari Lemon. Grandchildren; Anna (John) Neiderhouse, Amanda Comeau, Andrea Comeau, James Comeau, Amber (Austin) Haynes, Jordan (Amanda) Lemon, Alex (Bri) Lemon, Russel Lemon, Morgan (Nisha McIntyre) Lemon, Mason (Holly) Boatwright and Marissa Boatwright; Eight Great-grandchildren; Sisters, Joyce (Jim) McMillian and Janice Crowe; children of the heart Carri Wiley, Corey W.
