Nancy Arlene (Hunter) McIntosh&nbsp; 10-10-1955 to 4-11-2020

Nancy was born in Council Bluffs, IA to Harry Charles Hunter Sr. and Anna Mae (Chapin) Hunter on October 10, 1955.&nbsp; She was the only girl and youngest of six siblings.

She grew up in the Assemblies of God Church and loved God and her family more than anyone could ever know!

Through her life she was revered as many things including: a caring daughter, a loving wife, a devoted mother, a kind sister, an amazing grandmother (Nana / granny) and honorary family to many!

She was of the graduating class of 1973 at Thomas Jefferson High School of Council Bluffs Iowa and was a member of Future Nurses of America.

Her dream job at this point was to become a veterinarian.&nbsp;

Through her life Nancy did an array of work with the church and loved working with the youth.

In her younger years she worked in the dietary departments of nursing homes until she completed schooling to become a beautician at this point she worked for Dee's Beauty Barn of Council Bluffs Iowa until she began her favorite job of becoming a full time mother.

She is survived in death by: her husband, Roger Alan McIntosh, of Horton Kansas; her daughters, MaeBelle Marie McIntosh, of Sequim Washington and Elaine Elizabeth Ann (McIntosh) Moore and her husband Anthony Moore, of Hiawatha Kansas; her son, Benjamin Charles McIntosh and his husband William Jesse Snyder of Michigan Valley Kansas; her brother, Harry Charles Hunter and his wife Rosetta Louise (Lawson) Hunter of Calico Rock Arkansas; her step- mother, Barbara June (Jeffers) Hunter of Harbor City (Los Angeles) California, and four grand children, Abarie Anne Nicole McIntosh, Autum Rosealean Moore, Braxton Alynn Moore, and Callie RubyAnn Moore.

And plethora of of relatives in-law, nieces and nephews and many honorary family members&nbsp;

(LaVoris) "Maxine" Corbet (93, passed away peacefully Sunday (April 12, 2020) morning at Maple Heights Nursing Center in her hometown of Hiawatha, Kansas.&nbsp; Her daughter Carolyn Rosenberger was by her side, holding her hand, at the time of her passing.&nbsp;

Maxine was born on December 3, 1926, north of Hiawatha at the home of her parents Ernest and Beulah (Starrett) Jimeson.&nbsp; She attended the one room Hart Grade School and graduated from Reserve (Kan.) High School in 1944.&nbsp; While working as a soda jerk at Spaulding’s Drug Store in Hiawatha, she met a man whom everyone just called Kenny.&nbsp; On March 9, 1947, she married that man, Kenneth George Corbet, at the Reserve Christian Church.&nbsp; They would spend the next 55 years like two peas in a pod before Kenny passed away on August 18, 2002.&nbsp; Maxine and Kenny spent the first 20 years of their marriage on farms in northern and eastern Brown County before moving to Hiawatha in the spring of 1967, where she would spend the rest of her life.

With her husband Kenny working countless hours to provide for her and their six children – Steve, Jim, Debbie, Max, Alan and Carolyn – Maxine was the&nbsp;ROCK&nbsp;of the family.&nbsp; She created a loving atmosphere for her sons and daughters, and their many friends, which brought the greatest joy to her life.&nbsp; She was a mother who was always there to provide love, compassion, sympathy and hard knocks when needed.&nbsp;

One trait that always stood out was her cheerful and fun disposition, which endeared her to her grandchildren.&nbsp; Born happy, she left this world content. &nbsp;She was one who never took life too seriously, and that included herself.&nbsp; Growing up during the depression she learned to become one of the most resilient people a person would ever meet.&nbsp; While life would be throwing curve balls and hard balls her way, Maxine understood from an early age to keep swinging and eventually the hits would come her way.&nbsp; While times could be tough and some meals might consist of ham salad (bologna) sandwiches or macaroni and eggs with pork and beans, she was also a master chef who could always provide a full course meal at any time, and on time, for whomever stopped by.&nbsp;

Along with her full-time occupation of loving wife and mother, Maxine also found time to serve as a cook at Hiawatha High School.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was an active member of the Alta Vista Club, the Rainbow Club, the Red Hat Club, Eastern Star and many church circles.&nbsp; The Reserve Christian Church where she grew up, and the First United Methodist Church in Hiawatha where she worshiped her adult life, provided her with a solid foundation.&nbsp; Outside providing support at home for her devoted husband Kenny, the church is where Maxine volunteered countless hours.&nbsp; From helping prepare dinner for a grieving family, applying makeup and sewing clothes for the annual live nativity scene at Christmas, to just cleaning the kitchen and taking out the trash, the church is what inspired her.&nbsp; She passed this inspiration along to her family and many others.

Maxine is survived by her sons Steve Corbet (Judy) of Clearwater, Florida; Jim Corbet (Toni) of Biloxi, Mississippi; Max Corbet (Belinda) of Boise, Idaho; Alan Corbet (Tina) of Kansas City, Missouri; and daughters Debbie Heaton (Jim) of Dallas, Texas; and Carolyn Rosenberger (Richard) of Hiawatha.&nbsp; She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and her sister Mary Ann Hards (Delmar) of Everett, Washington.&nbsp;

She was preceeded in death by her husband Kenny, her parents Ernest and Beulah Jimeson, and sister Fran Owen (Tracy) of Seattle, Washington.

Friends may call at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha from 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday (April 19).&nbsp; &nbsp;A private graveside service will be held on Monday (April 20) at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha.

She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on June 15, 1941, to Robert Leighton McGrew and Mary Jane (Roskowski) McGrew.

Carol graduated from Central High School and was married to Jimmy Tucker on July 3, 1976. Mr. Tucker survives of the home.

She is also survived by two sisters, Linda Lee McBride, St. Joseph, Missouri and Mary Frances Allsbury, Kansas City, Missouri; three nieces, Dr. Melinda Roney and Cindy McElwee, Kansas City, Missouri and Laura Marriott, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Shane H. Fitzpatrick, 54, of Effingham, KS died on Monday, April 13, 2020 at his home following a battle with cancer.

Visitation with family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 17th, 2020 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison limited to 10 people at a time. Shane worked as a heavy equipment operator for Potts Construction and many other construction businesses. He was a member of the Local Union# 101 Heavy Equipment Operators and enjoyed hunting, fishing, demolition derby cars, mushroom and bird hunting.

Survivors include his fiancé’, Shawn McNea, Effingham, KS, a son, Casey Fitzpatrick, Leavenworth, KS, a daughter, Chelsie (Cory) Brown, Olathe, KS, his father, Norman K. Fitzpatrick, Effingham, KS a brother , Gary Fitzpatrick, Hiawatha, KS, a sister, Lynne Kurtz, Effingham, KS, three grandchildren; Caleb, Chandler, and Brinley Brown and several nieces and nephews. His mother preceded him in death.

Carol Jean Derc 79, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 13, 2020 in a Saint Joseph, MO hospital. 

She was born June 19, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Geraldine and Charles Scott. She graduated from Convent of the Sacred Heart class of 1958 and married Robert Derc on October 30, 1961. She worked at American National Bank, and retired from the U.S. Bank as a bank teller. She enjoyed crocheting, and crafts, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carol was a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. 

She was preceded in death by husband, Robert "Bob" William Derc, and her parents. 

Survivors include, three daughters: Pamela West, Lori Derc and Rebecca Bright, all of St. Joseph, MO, 6 grandchildren, Tyler (Chelsea, Megan (Dustin, Joshua, Mindy, Alissa, and Adair, 9 great grandchildren, Jacob, Cayson, Chloe, Emberlyn, Elizabeth, Jace, Traven, Carter, and Hadley, numerous nieces and nephews, 2 cousins, and her sister-in-law, Kay Walker of St. Joseph, MO.

Phyllis Damon, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away April 13, 2020.

Phyllis was born on September 11, 1936, in Red Cloud, Nebraska to the late Escoe and Alice (Jones) Jennings.&nbsp; She graduated in 1954 from Smith Center Kansas High School.

Phyllis married Carl Damon on October 6, 1955.&nbsp; He passed away in 2016.

She loved living at Country Squire.&nbsp; She enjoyed volunteering and participating in all of the activities.&nbsp;

Jackson Lee Isaacs 91, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 in a Saint Joseph, MO. health care center. 

He was born September 10, 1928 in Faucett, MO, son of the late Hazel and Lymann Isaacs. He served in the United States Air Force, and is a veteran of the Korean War. He married Evelyn Jordan, whom he met at the Trails West festival in St. Joseph, MO. He was an Insurance Salesperson, who also was the president of Midwest Artist Association, where he and wife Evelyn traveled all over the Midwest, showing and selling her art. Jackson was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in St. Joseph, MO. He was also a beloved member of Alcoholics Anonymous and worked over 40 years helping others to get and maintain sobriety! 

Jackson was preceded in death by 1st wife Betty Jean Isaacs, 2nd wife Evelyn Ella Jordan-Isaacs, and his parents.

Jackson Lee Isaacs 91, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 in a Saint Joseph, MO. health care center. He was born September 10, 1928 in Faucett, MO, son of the late Hazel and Lymann Isaacs. He served in the United States Air Force, and is a veteran of the Korean War. He married Evelyn Jordan, whom he met at the Trails West festival in St. Joseph, MO. He was an Insurance Salesperson, who also was the president of Midwest Artist Association, where he and wife Evelyn traveled all over the Midwest, showing and selling her art. Wayne Walter Lemon, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away in his home April 9, 2020 at 77 after a long battle with cancer.

Wayne was born to John and Blanche (Tenney) Lemon on November 19, 1942 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.

Wayne and his family moved to St. Joseph when Wayne was three. He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1960. He attended St. Joseph Junior College.

In the 1960’s he started in the lumber business working for Garfield Lumber and later South Park Lumber. During this time he drew over 1200 house plans and a few of commercial buildings that were built in and around St. Joseph.

Wayne and his wife, Connie, were married on April 8, 1975 and enjoyed 45 years of marriage. They loved doing “everything” together whether it was traveling to all 50 states, doing home projects or hanging out with friends and family.

In 1984 he started G&amp;L Millwork, now known as Blue Tree Casework, which grew and eventually moved into the old Sears building on 22nd&nbsp;and Messanie. Wayne was best known for his amazing saxophone playing. He had a great love of sharing his music in numerous bands, at church and other venues that spanned over sixty years.

In 1995 he was named “20 Who Count” in St. Joseph. He served as a past board member of UCP, the Red Cross and on the executive committee for the Architectural Woodwork Institute.

His love for the Lord was nurtured through Brookdale Church, where he was a member for 40 years. He served as an Elder and participated in several mission trips as far away as Guatemala and Africa. He loved sharing his faith with the younger generation while being a Young Life leader at Central and Lafayette high schools.

It was often said of Wayne that he was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He had a warm, genuine and contagious smile. He will be missed beyond measure by his family and friends.

Wayne is survived by his wife; children; Cody (Kevin) Comeau, Corey L. (Caitlin) Lemon and Cari Lemon. Grandchildren; Anna (John) Neiderhouse, Amanda Comeau, Andrea Comeau, James Comeau, Amber (Austin) Haynes, Jordan (Amanda) Lemon, Alex (Bri) Lemon, Russel Lemon, Morgan (Nisha McIntyre) Lemon, Mason (Holly) Boatwright and Marissa Boatwright; Eight Great-grandchildren; Sisters, Joyce (Jim) McMillian and Janice Crowe; children of the heart Carri Wiley, Corey W. Lemon and Cammi Burney; many nieces and nephews, cousins and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Lemon.

She was born February 15, 1963 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Janet married Mike Steele July 28, 1994. He survives of the home.

She was a loving wife, mother, nana and always very giving and generous, ready to help anyone in need.

Janet was an avid shopper, KC Chiefs fan and always ready for a good game of Mexican Train (Dominoes).

She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Gloggner; uncle, Bill Gloggner; and brother-in-law, Dustin Smith.

Carolyn F. “Cece” Hurst, 98, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020.

She was born October 1, 1921 in Cameron, Missouri.

Cece married William Hurst September 9, 1942; he preceded her in death January 9, 2009.

She graduated from Central High School and attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri.

Cece was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.

She was very active and enjoyed shopping, , going to the beach, gardening, playing cards, happy hour, fishing, sewing and cooking. Cece loved watching Mizzou and Chiefs football and having Sunday dinner with her family. She had a huge heart and was a giving person, always helping those less fortunate.

Cece and Bill spent most of their winters in Pompano Beach, Florida, where they had a home and many friends. She was instrumental in helping her husband with the home building business.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bill; son, Charles “Buddy” Hurst; parents, Roy and Mary (Hunt) Cousins; and brother, Charles “Buddy” Cousins.

Survivors include her daughters, Jennifer Hurst, Nanette Hurst-Corso (Tom); grandchildren, William Corso (Kayli Silkett, Emory Corso, extended family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter Kim (Steve) Hall, DeKalb, MO, three grandchildren Angie (Andy) Becker, Andy Hall, and Amy Hall, six great grandchildren Alyssa, Alexis, Bobbi, Harlie, Alivia, and Lane and a significant other for over twenty years, Jessie Couchman, Weston, MO. Robert "Bob" Emmett McAsey 90, of Saint Joseph, MO passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 at a Saint Joseph, MO health care center. 

He was born March 18, 1930 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Edna and Emmett McAsey. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School, and married Geraldine Hummer, the love of his life. They shared 73 years of marriage together. He served in the United States Marine Corp. He retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad after many years of service as a Clerk. Bob was a loving, wonderful, and caring husband, father, brother, and grandpa. He had many friends because he was always a good friend. He enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards with his beloved wife, Jerri and loved his Catholic faith and attending Mass. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kathleen McAsey, brothers, James, William, and Francis "Sonny" McAsey, and a sister, Mary Ann Yager. 

Survivors include: wife, Jerri, daughter, Sheron (James) Edelman, sons, Dennis McAsey, Kansas City, MO, and James McAsey, St. Joseph, MO, sister, Nancy Herbert, grandchildren: Sandy (Shannon) Martin, Renee (Jeremy) Barton, Brandon and Becky McAsey, 7 great grandchildren: Tony (Ayala, Shalee, Keldin, Laylee, Cooper, Madison, and Austin, 5 great-great grandchildren: Seth, Remi, Summara, Brooklyn, and Jersey, also several nieces and nephews, sister-in-law, Shirley McAsey, extended family, and many friends.

Clarence Eugene Wood, 90, of St. Joseph, passed away April 11, 2020.

Clarence was born on February 7, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Joseph and Alice (Huddelston) Wood.&nbsp;

He graduated from Central High School (1948) and proudly served in the U.S. Army.&nbsp; He was a lifelong Baptist&nbsp; and was employed by Quaker Oats.&nbsp; Clarence loved woodworking and his chow dogs.

Clarence married Rose Marie Sullivan on January 11, 1950 in St. Joseph, Missouri.&nbsp; She passed away on November 18, 2014.&nbsp;

In addition to his parents and wife, Clarence is preceded in death by his son Robert Wood and brother Gordon Wood.&nbsp;

Clayton married Sharon Allen June 23, 1962. She survives of the home. They shared 57 years of marriage together.

He worked for Dugdale Packing Company for 15 years, and Quaker Oats for 21 years. Clayton was employed with Heartland Medical Center and St. Paul Lutheran Church after retirement.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he held numerous positions, including President of the Congregation and School Board President.

He enjoyed baseball and as his sons were growing up was involved in Little League Baseball as their coach, as well as playing slow-pitch softball. He loved hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, James, Leonard and Victoria.

Survivors also include children, Mark, Jeffrey and Patrick; and grandchildren, Sydney, Wm. Clayton (Clay) and Brennan.

Byron J. Waller, 92, St. Joseph, Missouri, formerly of Clarksdale, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020 at a local healthcare facility.

He was born September 5, 1927 in Stewartsville, Missouri to Frederick C. and Leona Bee (Shackelford) Waller.

Byron married Grace L. Gaylord September 27, 1947. They were married for 56 years. He later married Rita (Bollinger) Swartz in 2005. She survives of the home.

Byron graduated from Stewartsville High School in 1945 then served in the Army Air Force in California. He retired from farming and as a Rural Letter Carrier, a position he held for 27 years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Gaylord; parents, Fred and Leona (Shackelford) Waller; infant daughter, Barbara; sons-in-law, Charles Roster and LeRoy Montoya; brothers, Owen and Robert F.

Linda was born December 2, 1947 in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Ernest and Pauline (Hansen) Yeigh. She was part owner and operator of Winzer Brother Trucking Company and she also was a house cleaner. Linda was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Atchison, KS. She enjoyed traveling, going to the casino with her mom, crocheting, reading, crafts and her plants.

Linda married Everett Winzer on August 17, 1974 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Atchison, KS. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1987. Survivors include a cousin Myrna McConnaughey, aunts, Gladis Bewley and Rene Hansen, brothers in law, Robert and Ollie Winzer, Sister in law, Reona and Ted Johnson and lots of cousins and nieces and her fur babies Coco, Ginger and Mojo.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Vivian was born on Oct. 3, 1954 in Rochester, New York, the daughter of Seymour E. and Ruth E. (Dow) Sage, Sr. Even though Vivian was disabled all of her life, she did enjoy doing word search puzzles, watching Disney movies, and being around horses.

Vivian is survived by a brother, Seymour (Judy) Sage II, of Lancaster, KS; several nieces and nephews.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Seymour and Ruth Sage, Sr.; brother, Chester A. Sage; and sisters, Karen Bluma and Ruth Ann French.

Retired Army Special Forces Sergeant Major Larry Brown Jr. passed away Tuesday 7 April 2020.&nbsp; He was one of the original members of Special Forces and a Veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.&nbsp;

He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia but lived most of his life in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

He was a member of the Special Forces Association, VFW, American Legion and DAV.

He loved hunting and fishing and spending time with family and friends. He moved to Savannah, Mo in 2009 to live with his daughter and son-in-law.

He is preceded in death by: his parents Larry Brown and Clarabelle King; Wife, Alma Brown; Son, Joseph Brown; Brother, Glen Ray Brown; Sisters, Loretta, Betty and Henrietta.&nbsp;

He is survived by: his Daughter, Dee Dee (Brian) Stackhouse of Savannah; Brother, Tracy (Elyse) of Fayetteville; Grandchildren, Jamie (Jarrod) Lund of Savannah; Jessica Stackhouse of Savannah, and Joseph (Samantha) Stackhouse of St Joseph; four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

She later attended Missouri Western in 1971 and became a teacher for the St. Joseph School District, teaching at Everett School for nine years and Humboldt for eleven years. She retired in 1993.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Susan (Goff) Tourbier; sisters, Ada Tourbier and Susan Wellenkotter.

Survivors include nephew, Carl Wellenkotter (Patsy); great-nephew, Karl Wellenkotter.

On July 10, 2004, he was united in marriage to Lisa May Carpenter.

Bob graduated from Lawson High School in 1993. He owned his own concrete business, Concrete Creations, for eight years, then later went on to become an Insurance Broker, Senior Benefits Services.

He was a very involved father and baseball coach.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia (Norman) Bates; stepmother, Victoria Bates.
