He was born February 17, 1933 in Clyde, Missouri.

Brownie married Crystal Fern Frump October 28, 1952. She preceded him in death October 4, 2016.

He was a member of Morgan Horse Society and enjoyed hunting and gardening.

Brownie was also preceded in death by his son, Frank “Buck” Justus, Jr.; parents; 5 brothers and one sister.

Survivors include daughters, Cheryl Robertson (Mark, Vicki Allen (Chuck Schott, Robin Hensley, Debbie Crist (Roy, Melody Cross (Paul); 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one sister.

She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on July 1, 1970. She graduated from Benton High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Missouri Western State University.

Rebecca married Darin King November 4, 1988; they were married thirty-one years.

She was the Assistant Director of Nursing at LaVerna Village and later worked as a cardiac nurse and care manager for Mosaic Life Care.

Margaret Ruth (Schorzman) Ohlmann, 90, of Atchison, Kansas, passed peacefully from this life into eternal life on April 27, 2020, at Atchison Senior Village.

A Christian service of praise and thanksgiving for a lifetime of blessings and salvation will be observed at 9:30 am on Monday, May 4, 2020 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Lantz, Pastor of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Family will receive friends for visitation from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, May 3rd, 2020 at the funeral home following social distancing guidelines for both service and visitation. Margaret was born in a sod house in Freeman, South Dakota, on January 29, 1930, the daughter of Jacob and Ruth (Mayer) Schorzman. She attended elementary schools in South Dakota and Texas and high school at Concordia High School, Seward, Nebraska. She attended college and earned degrees at Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska, and Benedictine College, Atchison, Kansas.

Margaret taught a total of 11 years in Lutheran Schools in Omaha, NE, Galena Park, TX, and Leavenworth, KS, and one year at the Atchison Catholic Elementary School in Atchison. She enjoyed voice, singing, and was an active soloist for many years. Additionally, she served as a substitute teacher in Atchison Public Schools and worked five years as a switchboard operator at the Benedictine College South Campus.

Margaret was a dedicated wife and deeply supportive of her husband Karl’s ministry in Lutheran schools. Her goals were to walk with Jesus, be a good Christian wife and mother, and a Christian example to her students. She was spiritually committed to share with and edify others on their journey to a better land, always striving to keep her life simple and wholesome.

On July 9, 1954, Margaret married Karl John Ohlmann in Woodland, CA, where they resided in California until moving to Atchison in July 1969. Margaret considered it a true privilege and great service to our Lord that she was able to care for Karl in their home for eight years after his stroke until his passing on September 25, 1998. Their marriage was blessed with five children.

This beautiful angel will be missed here on earth as she begins her eternity in God’s Kingdom. She awaits her two sons, Timothy Ohlmann, Holton, KS; and Paul (Carol) Ohlmann, Lakewood, CA; her daughters, Cynthia (Burdel) Welsh, Las Vegas, NV; Alison (Dan) Strubberg, Bloomington, IL; Susan (Tom) Nunn , China Grove, NC; and her four grandchildren, Jim (Zila) Welsh, Brian Welsh, Joshua (Amanda) Nunn, and Megan Gaboda. Her only sister, Doris Reith, Tempe, AZ, always had a special place in her heart and survives her, along with her nieces Theresa Leyes and Stephanie Reith, and nephew Chris Reith, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and cherished stepmother, Josephine Schorzman.

Her children are genuinely thankful to special friends and neighbors for their loyal friendship and love to Margaret during the latter years of her earthly life, enabling her to remain in her home, which she loved and treasured, for as long as possible. They are equally as thankful to the Atchison Senior Village staff that provided her care with great concern and smiles during the last years.

James (Boo Boo) was born on February 6, 1975 in St. Joseph to Donald Tittsworth and Pamela (Smith) Angst.&nbsp; He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge 505.&nbsp;&nbsp; Boo Boo enjoyed fishing, bowling, baseball and loved children (as he was like a kid himself).

He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and cousin, A.J. Smith.&nbsp;

Survivors:&nbsp; parents; son Trevor D. Tittsworth; sister Christina Kunzler (Leslie); significant other Caress Hubbard and her two sons of the home; cousins; extended family and friends that were like family.

James "J.T" Tittsworth  1975 - 2020

VINCENT PAUL HERNANDEZ 53, passed away peacefully at home with his loved ones, Saturday April 25, 2020 at St. Joseph, Missouri after a long battle with heart disease. 

Vince was born on November 17, 1966 to Donald Paul Hernandez and Carol Dunn Hernandez Force. He graduated from Lafayette High School. He married Sennie Dickens Pierson on 11-26-1985 and had one child, (Jessica). He later married Pamela Jo Smith on 2-11-1989 and had two children, (Leighann and Tyler). Vince enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1985 and served at Ft. Lewis, Washington. He then began his civilian career working at Weyerhaeuser. Upon moving back to St. Joseph, Missouri, he began his life-long career as a “concrete man”, working for Precision Foundation. He also worked as a serviceman/technician for Miller Pipe Line in Kansas City, Missouri for two years. In his youth, Vince was a superb athlete excelling at baseball, participating in the Bronco World Series held in St. Joseph, Missouri. As a pitcher, he struck out 18 consecutive batters during one game. He could fill and do a good job at just about any position on the baseball field. He also was active in softball, basketball and football. He loved NASCAR racing, especially Dale Jr., watching the Royals and Chiefs play as well as just about any other sport he could find to watch. He loved the outdoors, cooking, BBQ, music, dancing and being with family and friends. Vince’s sense of humor always put a smile on your face or laughter in the air, he loved telling everyone that there were two things to know about concrete; 1. It will crack and 2. No one can steal it! 

Vince is survived by his forever partner, Lori Bussell, his daughters, Jessica Pierson and Leighann Hernandez and son, Tyler (Briana) Lown, and Ben Mauzey, his mother and stepfather, Carol and Toby Force, his step-mother, Mary Schafer Hernandez, siblings, Chris (Ed) Crouse, Tammy Force, Brian (Carrie) Hernandez and Tony (Laura) Force, along with his grandchildren, Caitlyn and Jackson Tedrow, Lilee, Amelia and Ezra Lown, Chloe Oliphant, his sister-in-law, Valorie Hurt Hernandez, numerous nieces and nephews and his best friend, Shawn Turner and companion dog, Buddy. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Paul Hernandez, brother, Mark Christopher Hernandez, both maternal grandparents (Charles C. &amp; Geneva F. Hornbeek Dunn) and paternal grandparents (Natividad “John” Hernandez and Edna Mae Ferguson Hernandez, aunts and uncles.

Rosa Christena "Chris" Harman, 88, passed away in St. Joseph on Sunday, April 26, 2020.

Chris was born on February 26, 1932 in Humphreys, MO to Sherman and Mary Pierce. She married Elmer Harman on April 17, 1950. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1991.

She worked many years in the restaurant business, finally retiring from Walmart in 1997.

Chris loved life and people. She loved traveling, building puzzles and binging on Gunsmoke episodes. But most especially, she loved on her family and friends a lot.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; son, Alvin; brother Truman; sister, Dorothy; and two grandchildren.

She is survived by her brothers Bill (Ellen, and Vernon (Marilyn); sister, Addie; daughters, Karen Auten (George, Cheryll Fowler and Charlene Colorado (Rick); 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Public visitation will be Wednesday, April 29 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel.&nbsp; Graveside service 3:00 PM, Thursday, April 30, at Bolckow Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to either the Missouri Veteran's Home in Cameron, MO or the ASPCA.

Helen (Fryar) Lewis, 98, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 24, 2020.

She was born June 14, 1921 in Ravenwood, Missouri.

Helen married Garland Lewis February 6, 1942; he preceded her in death February 17, 2013.

She was a Maryville High School graduate, Class of 1939. Helen was a long-time member of Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church.

She was a wonderful cook and always had plenty for everyone to eat. Helen enjoyed gardening and keeping in touch with family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Neva (Grantham) Fryar; brothers, Ronnie and Rex Fryar and grandson, Chip Tootle.

Survivors include her son, Terry Lewis (Ann, Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Janelle Nickelson, Olathe, KS; Ashley Welbern (John, Nashville, TN; William Matthew Tootle (Jennifer, Tuscaloosa, AL; great-grandchildren, Bradley, Tyler, Emma, Will, Adeline, Selah, Isaac; sister, Vaughn Seckington; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and her Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church family.

“The grass withers, the flowers fade, But the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8.

Helen (Fryar) Lewis, 98, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 24, 2020.She was born June 14, 1921 in Ravenwood, Missouri.Helen married Garland Lewis February 6, 1942; he preceded her in death February 17, 2013.She was a Maryville High School graduate, Class of 1939. Helen was a long-time member of Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church.She was a wonderful cook and always had plenty for everyone to eat. David L. Hancock, 79, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020 at his home.

He was born May 11, 1940, in Haddam, Kansas, to Roy Lee and Elizabeth (DeWeese) Hancock.

He graduated from Savannah High School, class of 1958. After graduation, he travelled the world in the US Navy and served 20+ years before retiring and moving to central Arkansas. Upon moving to Arkansas, he attended and graduated from Pulaski Vocational Technical School with degrees in Machine Shop and Industrial Equipment Technology. He worked at L’oreal USA, formerly Mabelline, and retired as an Environmental Technician.

David was always active in church, serving in many capacities over the years: deacon, choir leader, Sunday school teacher, CD ministries, and children services. He had a great love of puppets and performing. He was also a great woodworker and had a very creative mind. He once built a puppet stage, complete with different sets, crafted puppets, and put on many shows for his children, nieces, nephews, and many others. His puppet stage was only one of the many things he built over the years.

While living in Arkansas, he attended Berea Baptist Church in Jacksonville, where he met his wife, Anita. They later moved to St. Joseph. He was an active member of McCarthy Baptist Church in St. Joseph. Through the years, he helped with the children’s ministry performing puppet shows in daycare, worked on CD ministries and taught Sunday school.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Ruth Nelson; brother, Daryld Hancock; and two grandchildren, Brandon Kerr and Trevor Hancock.

Survivors include: wife, Anita, of St. Joseph; children: Greg Kerr (Rhonda) of Louisiana, Bethany Hancock Semore (Dan) of Washington, David Bodero (Dominic) of Texas, Henry Hancock (Aman) of California, and Dawn Allison (Sam) of Arkansas; grandchildren: Tasha Waddle Carroll, Tommy Waddle, Timmy Waddle, Ray Callaway, Nichole Callaway, Ariel Callaway, Jammie Oliver, David Brissette, Zakkary Hill, Tanner Hancock, Jordan Hancock, Eliza Allison; 18 great grandchildren; sisters: June Gawatz of St. Joseph, and Anne Taylor of Amazonia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born August 17, 1946 in Wathena, Kansas.

Leroy married Karen Ann Jennings August 9, 1969. She survives of the home.

He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for 32 years. Leroy was a volunteer at Gods Mountain for over 25 years and also a driver for Faith and Action for over 5 years.

He enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, spending time with his family but most of all sharing his love of God through his interaction with others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ivah (Roberts) Wilson; brother, Francis Vernon; infant brother; sister, Wanda Lee Wilson.

Calvin C. Henry, Jr., 70, Union Star, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 20, 2020.

He was born December 30, 1949 in Maryville, Missouri.

Calvin married his high school sweetheart from 50 years ago, Deborah Schnuerle May 27, 2006; she survives of the home.

He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Loveland, Colorado.

Calvin was an avid hunter and devoted much of his life to leading guided hunting trips in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. He loved every aspect of the sport. He took so much pride in respecting the process, from the initial hunt, down to processing the meat into various forms, so he could share with his loved ones. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning and watching old westerns.

He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin C. Henry, Sr.; brothers, Michael Henry, Jeffrey Henry and sister, Laurie Henry.

Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Mary Louise (Miller) Goss, 98, of St. Joseph, MO died on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Riverview Nursing Home.

Mary Louise was born April 4, 1922 in St. Joseph, MO to Russell and Mary (Bowen) Woodyard. She was a graduate of Lafayette High School and was honored to be the oldest alumni riding in the 100th Anniversary Parade October 14, 2017. Mary Louise married Wilbur (Clarence) Miller on June 8, 1948. After thirteen years of marriage, Tony lost his battle with cancer on August 20, 1961. Years later, Mary met O.L. (Bill) Goss and they married on February 12, 1971. He, too, lost his battle with cancer on August 20, 1994.

Mary worked for the St. Joseph Gas Company, the Thompson, Brumm, Knepper Clinic, and Montgomery Ward. After retiring, Mary volunteered her time at Mosaic Hospital in the Human Resource Department. She enjoyed volunteering her time throughout her life working with many organizations such as the Boy &amp; Girl Scouts of America and St. Joseph Hospice Care. Mary was a lifelong member of Savannah Avenue Baptist Church.

Mary was the “Hostess with the Mostest” who enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Her favorite things to bake were pies with fluffy meringue, cakes made from scratch, and all things chocolate. Ice cream was her comfort food of choice and was known for often eating a dessert before the prepared course dinner meal. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years, embroidering beautiful tea towels and later, crafting beautiful ceramic pieces for her family.

Mary Louise loved riding the parkways of St. Joseph. As a passenger in the vehicle riding the beautiful parkways, one would hear her reciting Eugene Fields famous “Lovers Lane St. Jo” poem. She proudly taught this poem to her children and grandchildren.

Mary Louise is survived by her four children, Rusty and Cynthia Miller of Denton, Texas; Roger and Lesley Miller of Denton, Texas; Mary Malinda and Jim Cline of Mineola, Missouri and Marsha Miller of St. Joseph. Four stepchildren: Dianna and Clarence Saunders of Rea, Missouri; Debbie Ditch of St. Louis; Dennis and Jackie Goss of Olathe, Kansas, and Randy and Melissa Goss of Blue Springs, Missouri. Nineteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers, her husbands Tony Miller and Bill Goss, her sister Thelma Ruth Shilling and husband, George; her brother William T. Woodyard and wife, Ruth; and her sister Sara Frances Snail and husband, Larry.

Denny L. Holle, 77, of rural Hiawatha, with family by his side, died Sunday evening, April 19, 2020, at his rural home.

Denny was born at Greenleaf, KS, December 8, 1942, one of five children born to Lawrence and Rosy Holle (Craig). He attended Shaw Country School and then went to Barnes High School. After school, Denny did the farming and chores at their family farm.

Denny married Bethel in 1974 and they made their home in Hiawatha, Ks where he lived the rest of his life. Denny worked for Flair Fold for 37 years until they closed. He then worked at Wilde Tool Company for 5 years and then retired.&nbsp;To say Denny was an avid garden tractor puller was very much understated!

Denny is survived by 5 step-children: Cindy (Allen) Wisdom of Falls City, Ne., Ida Stonebarger of Marysville, KS,&nbsp;Marie (Steve) Waterman, Frank (Lorrie) Jorgenson and Amy Jorgenson all of Greenleaf, KS, a nephew David (Laura) Holle of Hiawatha, KS;&nbsp;six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren (one unborn, &nbsp;2 great nephews, 1 great niece, 1 Great-great nephew and 1 great-great niece.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Bethel and a granddaughter Jennifer Wenzel, brother Verlin Holle, sister-In-Law Shirley Holle.

Patricia Ann “Pat’ Wagner, 84, of Hiawatha, with family by her side, died Sunday evening, April 19, 2020, at the Hiawatha Community Hospital where she had been for patient several days.&nbsp; She previously had been a resident of the Pines, and recently Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha.

Pat was born in Sabetha, July 7, 1935, one of three children born to the late Ira “Mart” and Mary Catherine Lock Parks was a lifelong resident of Hiawatha.&nbsp; Pat attended Hiawatha schools, later graduating high school with the class of 1953 where she was a majorette for the marching band.&nbsp; She later graduated from Highland Junior College with an associate’s degree in business. She worked as a secretary for Brown County Services for the Elderly for a total of 21 years, first for Don Neff for 7 years, Bob Cash for 14 years, and later for Steve Ward, before retiring.&nbsp; Pat in conjunction with her ‘day’ job, she was also sales woman for “Stanley Home Products, Inc.” for over 50 years.

After her future husband Gerald K. Wagner, returned from the Korean Conflict, they married October 12, 1959 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Hiawatha which they were longtime members.&nbsp; She also was a member of the Altar Society of the Church; and the ladies auxiliary to VFW Post #5210, also of Hiawatha.&nbsp; They made Hiawatha their home all of their married life where they raised their five children:&nbsp; Danielle, Bobette, Cress, Dirk, and Nicole.&nbsp; Saying Pat enjoyed playing bridge was an understatement!&nbsp; She and Gerald enjoyed playing cards with several different couples through the years.&nbsp; Their family enjoyed family outings, and boating at the Horton Lake.&nbsp; The Wagner family was always known to be a fierce competitor when it came time for the Hiawatha Halloween Parade and enjoyed participating by building family floats for many years when the kids were still at home.&nbsp; Gerald died March 28, 2006.

Pat was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Charles and Robert “Bob” Parks, and her half-sister Alma Ruth “Skippy” Muth.

Survivors include her children: Dani Wagner (Irene); Bobi Dozier (Pete) and their children Katie Jo Underwood (Eric, Alexandria Wilson (Jon, Tiffany Lammon, and Gavin Dozier; Cress Wagner (Paula) and their daughter MaKayla; Dirk Wagner (Anna) and their children Austin, Blythe, Gabriel; Nicki Limron (Gregg) and their daughters Kalli and Julia; and two great-grandchildren: Izayah and Julian (Alexandria and Jon).

A private family graveside services will be held Thursday, April 23, at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha, with Father Daniel Gardner officiating.

She was born August 2, 1984 in St. Joseph, and graduated from Benton High School. She worked at Area Nursing Homes as a LPN. Kelly had a great personality, and was very quick witted, she enjoyed shopping and animals. 

Kelly was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Clinton &amp; Phyllis Robertson, maternal grandmother, Janice Darlene Myers, her father Kris Robertson and mother Deborah Albertson.

He was born May 18, 1930 in Dekalb, MO, son of Nellie and William Oscar Crockett. He graduated from DeKalb High School class of 1949 and married Roberta "Joan" Easter on December 23, 1950 in Hiawatha, KS. He worked at Quaker Oats and and retired from TWA as a Mechanic. He enjoyed camping and mushroom hunting, and spending time with his family. He was active in his community in the DeKalb Homecoming Association, DeKalb Fire Department, Rushville Masonic Lodge and DeKalb Christian Church, he was also a member of the TWA retirees. 

Gene was preceded in death by wife, Joan Crockett in 2019, his parents, and his sister Lorene Peters. 

Survivors include, daughters, Pamela M. Earl W. Furst of St Joseph, Missouri, formerly of Cosby, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 20th, 2020 in Cosby surrounded by his family. He was born on May 21, 1926 in his family home near Rosendale, Missouri to Harold and Ethel Brewer Furst.

He graduated from Rosendale High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1945 to 1947. He was stationed in Okinawa and remained lifelong friends with his fellow soldiers.

He married Evelyn Rhoades in May 1948, and they had a loving home and partnership for 72 years. They farmed near Cosby until retirement in 2000, and then moved to St. Joseph. Earl loved to travel, fly his Piper airplane using his farm runway, and visit south Texas in the winter to square dance, golf, and play cards. He restored many antique cars and toured with them all over the United States.

Earl was very active in many community activities. He helped build their local church, Faith United Methodist Church in Cosby. He was a founding director of Rural Water District #2. He served on the Savannah School Board and the Home Bank Board in Savannah. With his antique cars, he was very active in parades with the Old Tymer’s from Moila Temple. He was a long-term member of the Cosby Lion’s Club.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, and three children: Ray (Janet) of Cosby, Cindy of Loveland, Colorado, and Ken of Dubuque, Iowa. He had eight grandchildren: Scott, Jasen, Spencer, Melissa, Chris, Amanda, Sarah, and Zachary, and six great-grandchildren. His daughter-in-law Marian and great-grandson Daniel proceeded him in death.

Private Graveside Farewell Services &amp; Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Furst’s room will be open from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home &amp; Crematory. Patricia Marie Noland, 62, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020.

She was born September 26, 1957, to Thomas and Lillian (Hatheway) McNamara.

Patricia married Donald Noland, Jr. on July 10, 2004.

Patricia loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed nature, dancing, pow-wows and drinking coffee with her best friend, David. Patricia was a selfless person.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband and the love of her life, Don Noland, Jr., of St. Joseph, Missouri; children, Phillip Hanes, Jason Harbord; best friend, David; extended family and friends.
