Sharon K.( Kendall) Jones, age 75 of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away May 3, 2020 after a long hard-fought battle against multiple health issues.

Sharon was born Oct. 1, 1944 to Hosea “H.O.” and E. Emogene (White) Kendall in Sweet Springs, Missouri.

Sharon graduated from Central High School and was a homemaker, housekeeper and bartender. She loved playing cards with family, fishing, watching Westerns and finding bargains at garage sales and thrift stores.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jim, Wayne, Claude, George and Russell Kendall; sisters Pauline Guier and Beverly Sue Kendall; and grandson Colby Sollars.

She is survived by sister Patty Ann Gorbet of Blue Springs, Missouri; brother Ron (Carole) Kendall of Anderson, Texas; daughters Janice (Kent) Heier of St. Joseph and JoAnne (Kipp) Tyborski of Papillion, Nebraska; sons David (Andrea) Jones of Chicago, Illinois and Kevin Jones of St. Joseph; grandchildren Tayler (Kevin) Cruz of St. Joseph, Dillon Denney of Savannah, McKenna (Ryan) Wood of Amazonia, Missouri and Caitlyn Tyborski of Omaha, Nebraska; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Sharon has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.

Danny W. Perry, 66, St. Joseph, Missouri, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, May 2, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 23, 1954 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Danny married Joann B. Byford July 26, 1975. She survives of the home.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army for 14 years, then the U.S. Army Reserves for 6 years. Danny was very proud of his military service.

He was a member of Life Church and the V.F.W. Danny worked for CD Smith for over 20 years, Walmart, then later Apple Bus Company as a driver and trainer for 9 years.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, his dogs, and driving his "bus kids”. Danny loved spending time with his family.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Helen (Lonjers)Perry.

Additional survivors include children, Justin D. Perry (Amber, Jessica D. Bailey, Jonathan D. Evelyn Janis (George) Wahlert, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, May 1st, 2020. 

Evelyn was born July 11, 1927 to late Peter and Martha (Uhrick) George, in Ft. Morgan, Colorado.

After graduating from Hillrose High School, in Hillrose, Colorado, Evelyn married Harvey Lyle Wahlert, December 5, 1946 in Ft. Morgan, Colorado. Lyle also preceded Evelyn in death, August 1, 1994. They lived in Hillrose, Colorado operating a family farm for a number of years. Lyle and Evelyn Wahlert moved to St. Joseph, Missouri in 1958.

Church work was an important part of Evelyn’s life with Lyle in the Community of Christ Church. Serving in several roles: Pastoring (Lay pastoring) many congregations with Lyle, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Women’s Leader, Mission Center bookkeeper, and congregational bookkeeper.Evelyn was an excellent seamstress, sewing clothes for her children, friends and relatives. She crocheted many afghans and enjoyed quilting. She finished her last quilt at age 92, but continued crocheting as long as she was able.Evelyn wrote a memoir that will be cherished by her family. She was able to relate events and historical happenings that will be valued for generations. Evelyn possessed a great love for her family and provided the example of respect and living with grace. With the comfort of her presence now gone, her grace and spirit will enduringly abide with us.

Evelyn is also preceded in death by: her parents, husband, son-in-law, Clyde Strine, grandson, Elliott Wahlert and Vince Garcia.

She is survived by all seven of her children: Lorraine Strine, Lenard (Marilyn) Wahlert, Lee Wahlert (David Machado, Lavonne Wahlert, Lucille Wahlert (Shannon Gilliland) , Lisa (Mark) Twombly, Loren (Ann Marie) Wahlert, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, James George, and a sister Donna Mull.

Celebration of Life services will be at a later date due to the Covid 19 Virus at the Community of Christ Church Abundant Life Center. The immediate family will attend the simultaneous Inurnment of both Evelyn and Lyle Wahlert at Monrovia Cemetery, Monrovia, Kansas. Kathy enjoyed the outdoors, animals, bingo and other games, traveling, she loved Germany, Paris and Georgia. She enjoyed conversations with other people and spending time with her family. Kathy was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She supported her husband as a military wife.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ashley Durham; father, Richard Edelen; and brother, Eric Edelen.

She was born January 5, 1935 in St. Joseph, Missouri daughter of the late Jeanette &amp; Clarence "Mike" Singleton. She attended Benton High School and graduated from Gower High School in 1952. She was co-owner of the DC Cattle Company with her husband. Norma enjoyed playing the organ, loved college football, and the Mizzou Tigers. She was a member of the Christ Community Church Omaha, NE. 

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband J. Donald Clark, brother, Roger Singleton, and step son Nick Clark. 

Survivors include: daughter, Cheryl Smith, Melissa, TX, step daughter, Kathy (Frank) Lewis, Plattsburg, MO, grandchildren: Nicole Smith, Carmen (Drew) Smith, Amanda, Tyler (Lacey, and K.C. He was born November 14, 1963 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Russell and Deanna Kendall.

He graduated from Wathena High School and attended Missouri Western. He sold insurance and worked as a lineman apprentice for a short time. He was a very private person who lived a simple life. He loved watching movies and listening to music.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Deanna Kendall, father, Russell Kendall and nephew, Colin Johnston.

Survivors include his two sisters, Kim (Jim) Kline, Wathena and Pam (Rick) Richter, Savannah. Nephew, Connor Kline and niece Charlee Kline as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Due to the Pandemic there won’t be a service. Rusty wishes for his inurnment to be at the Bellemont Cemetery alongside his parents. The family will have a private gathering at a later date.

Seth’s favorite thing was to listen to the Troll’s Movie, which his mom played throughout the day.

He enjoyed playing with all his musical toys and being outside.

Seth was the sweetest, most beautiful little boy and will always be in the hearts of his family, friends and caregivers that were fortunate to be a part of his life. He was blessed with a mother that lived to give him the very best.

Seth was preceded in death by his great-great-grandfather, Bob McAsey.

He is survived by his loving and devoted mom, Shalee Joswick, who cared for his special needs each and every day; his loving grandparents, Shannon and Sandy Martin; great-grandparents, Jim and Shari Edelman; great-great-grandmother, Jerri McAsey; uncle, Tony Thompson (Ayala); cousin, Remy, and many close friends.

LaVerne married William F. Magers on November 12, 1938 in Winthrop, MO; he preceded her in death on April 8, 1991. Survivors include a son Bill and Marsha Magers, Creston, IA, a daughter, Patricia Shanes, Aurora, NE, five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren, a sister in law Sarah Witte.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Leonard, Edward and Albert Witte, two sisters, Leota Boatright, Opal Davis and a son in law Vyck Shanes

Philip E. Sarver, 49, North Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020 after a lengthy battle with brain cancer.

He was born January 25, 1971 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Philip was a 1989 graduate of Central High School. He attended Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western State University.

He loved sports and played baseball and football in high school and also for American Legion and church teams.

Philip enjoyed fishing, golfing, and his hobby was building radio-controlled trucks. He was a Christian.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Merrill and Lydia Sarver; maternal grandparents, Wilson and Ruby Talmadge.

Survivors include his daughter, Lydia Sarver; son, Jackson Sarver; fiancé, Edie Crawford; Edie’s son, Andrew Crawford; parents, Timothy and Lynna (Talmadge) Sarver; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

He was born January 2, 1934 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Donald married Lola Nicholson April 10, 1953. She preceded him in death June 30, 2011.

He was an active member of Marvin McMurray United Methodist Church.

Donald proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Donald worked at Swift for 20 years then later Affiliated Foods until he retired in 1995.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and was very passionate about his grandchildren.

Donald was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Woodbury; parents, Creston and Estelle (Messick) Woodbury.

Dennis J. Rhodes, 67, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at his home. 

He was born on September 11, 1952 in St. Joseph, son of Joye and the late Robert Rhodes. He graduated from Benton High School in 1970, and married Charlotte Swartz on July 26, 1975. Denny retired from a career as a printing pressman after 33 years at Mead Products and 10 years at Western Container. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting, and had a passion for fishing. He loved his wife, sons, and grandchildren more than life itself. 

Denny was preceded in death by his father, Robert Rhodes, and his sister, Randi Banker. 

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte, of the home; two sons, Daniel (Emily Peters) of Southington, CT, and Dusty of Kansas City, MO; mother Joye Rhodes of St. Joseph; grandchildren Lucas Rhodes, Benjamin and Julia Swift; sisters Jana Cook (Bruce Veale) and Darla (Jim) Hunt; mother-in-law Charlene Swartz; brothers-in-law Fred Banker and David Swartz; sisters-in-law Susan (Chuck) Debenito and Terry Swartz (Rick German, and several nieces and nephews.

Tom Taylor passed away April 28, 2020 at his home in Country Club.

He was born July 13, 1941 to the late Wilma and Lloyd Taylor, of St. Joseph.&nbsp;

He was a 1960 Lafayette graduate, attended Missouri Western and was a Bridge Inspector for Missouri Department of Transportation for 40 years.

Tom married Joan Rockelman on July 5, 2008; She survives of the home.

Tom was a member of Faith United Church and was actively involved with the Grand River Muzzleloaders.&nbsp; One of his proudest achievements was touring all 50 states.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Judith (Gifford) Taylor; his parents and siblings, Mary Ann and Robert.

She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on July 1, 1970. She graduated from Benton High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Missouri Western State University.

Rebecca married Darin King November 4, 1988; they were married thirty-one years.

She was the Assistant Director of Nursing at LaVerna Village and later worked as a cardiac nurse and care manager for Mosaic Life Care.

Rebecca enjoyed spending her free time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Ward; sister, Leanna Ward; grandfather, John Turpin.

Survivors include husband, Darin; children, Gabriele, Jordan, Caleb; Sisters, Debbie (Greg) Thornhill, Sheila (Steve) Davis; Brother, Ricky (Brenda) Lewis; father in law, Dale King; mothers in law, Evelyn King and Doris King; extended family and friends.

Margaret Ruth (Schorzman) Ohlmann, 90, of Atchison, Kansas, passed peacefully from this life into eternal life on April 27, 2020, at Atchison Senior Village.

A Christian service of praise and thanksgiving for a lifetime of blessings and salvation will be observed at 9:30 am on Monday, May 4, 2020 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Lantz, Pastor of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Family will receive friends for visitation from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, May 3rd, 2020 at the funeral home following social distancing guidelines for both service and visitation. Memorials are suggested for Lutheran Bible Translators, the Lutheran Hour Ministries, or St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Atchison, KS and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Margaret was born in a sod house in Freeman, South Dakota, on January 29, 1930, the daughter of Jacob and Ruth (Mayer) Schorzman. She attended elementary schools in South Dakota and Texas and high school at Concordia High School, Seward, Nebraska. She attended college and earned degrees at Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska, and Benedictine College, Atchison, Kansas.

Margaret taught a total of 11 years in Lutheran Schools in Omaha, NE, Galena Park, TX, and Leavenworth, KS, and one year at the Atchison Catholic Elementary School in Atchison. She enjoyed voice, singing, and was an active soloist for many years. Additionally, she served as a substitute teacher in Atchison Public Schools and worked five years as a switchboard operator at the Benedictine College South Campus.

Margaret was a dedicated wife and deeply supportive of her husband Karl’s ministry in Lutheran schools. Her goals were to walk with Jesus, be a good Christian wife and mother, and a Christian example to her students. She was spiritually committed to share with and edify others on their journey to a better land, always striving to keep her life simple and wholesome.

On July 9, 1954, Margaret married Karl John Ohlmann in Woodland, CA, where they resided in California until moving to Atchison in July 1969. Margaret considered it a true privilege and great service to our Lord that she was able to care for Karl in their home for eight years after his stroke until his passing on September 25, 1998. Their marriage was blessed with five children.

This beautiful angel will be missed here on earth as she begins her eternity in God’s Kingdom. She awaits her two sons, Timothy Ohlmann, Holton, KS; and Paul (Carol) Ohlmann, Lakewood, CA; her daughters, Cynthia (Burdel) Welsh, Las Vegas, NV; Alison (Dan) Strubberg, Bloomington, IL; Susan (Tom) Nunn , China Grove, NC; and her four grandchildren, Jim (Zila) Welsh, Brian Welsh, Joshua (Amanda) Nunn, and Megan Gaboda. Her only sister, Doris Reith, Tempe, AZ, always had a special place in her heart and survives her, along with her nieces Theresa Leyes and Stephanie Reith, and nephew Chris Reith, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and cherished stepmother, Josephine Schorzman.

Her children are genuinely thankful to special friends and neighbors for their loyal friendship and love to Margaret during the latter years of her earthly life, enabling her to remain in her home, which she loved and treasured, for as long as possible. They are equally as thankful to the Atchison Senior Village staff that provided her care with great concern and smiles during the last years.

Charles Davis, 61, of St Joseph, passed away April 26, 2020 at his home. 

He was born September 15, 1958 in California, He worked as a Mechanic and enjoyed working on cars and cooking. 

Surviving: friend, Anthony Trower of St. Joseph, daughters, Sharla Knight and Stephanie Crowley, nephew, Terry Krauss and 2 sisters.

Jimmy "J.T." Tittsworth, 45, of St. Joseph, passed away April 27, 2020.

James (Boo Boo) was born on February 6, 1975 in St. Joseph to Donald Tittsworth and Pamela (Smith) Angst.&nbsp; He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge 505.&nbsp;&nbsp; Boo Boo enjoyed fishing, bowling, baseball and loved children (as he was like a kid himself).

He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and cousin, A.J. Smith.&nbsp;

Survivors:&nbsp; parents; son Trevor D. Tittsworth; sister Christina Kunzler (Leslie); significant other Caress Hubbard and her two sons of the home; cousins; extended family and friends that were like family.

James "J.T" Tittsworth  1975 - 2020

VINCENT PAUL HERNANDEZ 53, passed away peacefully at home with his loved ones, Saturday April 25, 2020 at St. Joseph, Missouri after a long battle with heart disease. 

Vince was born on November 17, 1966 to Donald Paul Hernandez and Carol Dunn Hernandez Force. He graduated from Lafayette High School. He married Sennie Dickens Pierson on 11-26-1985 and had one child, (Jessica). He later married Pamela Jo Smith on 2-11-1989 and had two children, (Leighann and Tyler). Vince enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1985 and served at Ft. Lewis, Washington. He then began his civilian career working at Weyerhaeuser. Upon moving back to St. Joseph, Missouri, he began his life-long career as a “concrete man”, working for Precision Foundation. He also worked as a serviceman/technician for Miller Pipe Line in Kansas City, Missouri for two years. In his youth, Vince was a superb athlete excelling at baseball, participating in the Bronco World Series held in St. Joseph, Missouri. As a pitcher, he struck out 18 consecutive batters during one game. He could fill and do a good job at just about any position on the baseball field. He also was active in softball, basketball and football. He loved NASCAR racing, especially Dale Jr., watching the Royals and Chiefs play as well as just about any other sport he could find to watch. He loved the outdoors, cooking, BBQ, music, dancing and being with family and friends. Vince’s sense of humor always put a smile on your face or laughter in the air, he loved telling everyone that there were two things to know about concrete; 1. It will crack and 2. No one can steal it! 

Vince is survived by his forever partner, Lori Bussell, his daughters, Jessica Pierson and Leighann Hernandez and son, Tyler (Briana) Lown, and Ben Mauzey, his mother and stepfather, Carol and Toby Force, his step-mother, Mary Schafer Hernandez, siblings, Chris (Ed) Crouse, Tammy Force, Brian (Carrie) Hernandez and Tony (Laura) Force, along with his grandchildren, Caitlyn and Jackson Tedrow, Lilee, Amelia and Ezra Lown, Chloe Oliphant, his sister-in-law, Valorie Hurt Hernandez, numerous nieces and nephews and his best friend, Shawn Turner and companion dog, Buddy. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Paul Hernandez, brother, Mark Christopher Hernandez, both maternal grandparents (Charles C. &amp; Geneva F. Hornbeek Dunn) and paternal grandparents (Natividad “John” Hernandez and Edna Mae Ferguson Hernandez, aunts and uncles.

Rosa Christena "Chris" Harman, 88, passed away in St. Joseph on Sunday, April 26, 2020.

Chris was born on February 26, 1932 in Humphreys, MO to Sherman and Mary Pierce. She married Elmer Harman on April 17, 1950. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1991.

She worked many years in the restaurant business, finally retiring from Walmart in 1997.

Chris loved life and people. She loved traveling, building puzzles and binging on Gunsmoke episodes. But most especially, she loved on her family and friends a lot.
