He was born August 1, 1956 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Manley Tubbs and Charlotte Weeden.

Stanley retired from Wire Rope Corporation of America after 25 years of employment.

He enjoyed music, sports, BBQ, but most of all spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was known by his family and friends as “Stan the Man”.

Marie S. Smith, 94, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at her home.

She was born as Virginia Marie Slaydon on January 29, 1927 to James and Minnie (Gregory) Slaydon in Axton, Virginia.

On November 22, 1944, Marie married William B. Smith in Portsmouth, VA, where he was training as a pilot in the US Navy. Together, they enjoyed over 70 years of marriage. He preceded her in death. Marie was also preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Janie Smith.

She was a long-standing member of Wyatt Park Christian Church. Marie enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching baseball and football, and playing bridge. She leaves a legacy of love and nurturing four generations of descendants.

Survivors include daughter, Susie Heiss; grandchildren, Kerry Heiss (Maureen), Kelly Brown (Matt), Kasey Crewse (Jason), and Kristopher Heiss; great-grandchildren, Nate and Zach Heiss, Bailey Blackmann (Brandon), Evan and Mallory Brown, Max and Ella Crewse, and Ayden, Kendall and Carden Heiss; and great-great-grandchildren, Loren and Dmitry Blackmann.

Larry G. Lent, 81, Greensboro, North Carolina, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

He was born July 18, 1939 in Holt County, Missouri to Charles and Aulta (Hodgin) Lent.

He graduated from Oregon High School in 1957. In 1961 he joined the United States Navy where he served in the Pacific Fleet for 4 years. He went on to work for Ford Motor Company for over thirty years.

On October 23, 1962 he married Mary “Lynne” Cramer. She precedes him in death.

Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Vickie Lynne; brother, C.W.; and sister, Esther.

R. Bruce Riley, 64, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

He was born on November 30, 1956 in Silver City, New Mexico to Hugh E. and Bonnie E. (Ewell) Riley, Jr. He spent his growing-up years in Tucson, Arizona, Hanover, New Mexico, and Leadville, Colorado, moving to Tennessee at the start of high school.

He was a paramedic in both Tennessee and Nevada for 43 years. He loved being a paramedic.

Bruce loved reading, spending time with his kids and grandkids, traveling and cooking, especially his Irish cooking. He loved researching his family history. Being Irish was a great source of pride and he would tell tales as long as you would lovingly listen.

Bruce was a Christian. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include daughter, Brianna Riley (Roy Mowen); son, Colin Riley; sister, Carroll Riley-Kamlin; grandchildren, Cherish Lynn and Ava Mowen; and cousins, Shirley and Marti Mize, Phyllis Mize, and Beverly and Randy Lemke; niece, Emily Downing-Moore; and nephew, Brian Downing.

John David “Bone” Martin, 73, of Atchison, KS, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at his home with family by his side. Bone was born on June 24, 1947 in Atchison to Carolyn (Ehret) Webb. Bone graduated from Atchison High School, briefly attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence and an Aviation Electronics school in Kansas City. Bone worked as a technician for the Steinlite Labs Corporation in Atchison assembling dielectric grain moisture meters. Bone was a true ‘Dead Head’ and loved the music by Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead. Bone’s passion was playing bass guitar in a local band, most recently in the DHB Project band. Other members of the band (Brad Jimenez, Scott Tacy, and Charles ‘Chuck’ Crossland) meant the world to Bone and he valued their friendship beyond words. Bone was also an avid golfer. Bone and Anita Chambers were married in 1985 in Atchison. They later divorced. Survivors include three daughters; Joey (Russell) Bullard, Amanda Chambers, and Heidi (Bryan) Killoren; ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Christopher Webb and James Webb, Jr.; sister, Deborah Scherer; an aunt, Jacqueline Thornton; cousins, Jann Boucher and her daughter, Taylor, and Lance Thornton. &nbsp;Kevin "Kevy" Andrew Evans was born May 25, 1956 to Joseph Francis and Helen Marie (McCall) Evans. Kevin was a twin and was 6th in a family of what would become 11 children for Joe and Helen.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Kevin graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph in 1974 and later from Missouri Western State College with a major in Political Science and a minor in English.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Kevin worked for several years for A.J. August Clothing Company and was known for dressing well. It was while he was with A.J. August that he met and married Melissa Dee Byers of Wichita, Kansas and they had one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth. Sarah was the light of Kevin's life and many summer vacations were spent seeing the USA with Sarah. One of Kevin's hobbies was photography and he shared his photos online with thousands.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Kevin later worked for Commercial Concepts in Kansas City as an office designer. Kevin had only recently retired and was planning on traveling extensively with Sarah.

&nbsp;Kevin "Kevy" Andrew Evans was born May 25, 1956 to Joseph Francis and Helen Marie (McCall) Evans. Kevin was a twin and was 6th in a family of what would become 11 children for Joe and Helen.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Kevin graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph in 1974 and later from Missouri Western State College with a major in Political Science and a minor in English.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Kevin worked for several years for A.J. August Clothing Company and was known for dressing well. It was while he was with A.J. August that he met and married Melissa Dee Byers of Wichita, Kansas and they had one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth. Sarah was the light of Kevin's life and many summer vacations were spent seeing the USA with Sarah. One of Kevin's hobbies was photography and he shared his photos online with thousands.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Kevin later worked for Commercial Concepts in Kansas City as an office designer. Larry Dean Redmond, 81, of Wathena, Kansas passed away Monday, May 17, 2021 at a nursing home in Hiawatha, Kansas.

Larry was born on September 6, 1939 in Wathena, Kansas to Harry and Myrtle (Jones) Redmond.&nbsp;

Larry graduated Bendena High School in 1957 and then served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961. He worked for Quaker Oats for 30 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wathena, Kansas.

He married Almeda Ruark on June 7, 1963 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She survives.&nbsp; Larry was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Virginia Redmond and Betty Blair and brother-in-law, Richard Johnson.

She was born April 26, 1935 in Bauxite, Arkansas to Doyle V. and Stella M. (Prock) Hogue.

She married Jack E. George on October 8, 1955. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2009.

She was a homemaker and also had worked as a nursing assistant. Deloris was a member of Eastern Star and the Willowbrook and Sparta Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son-in-law, Rick L. Wilson; three sisters; and one brother.

Survivors include children and grandchildren, Thomas (Valerie)George and their daughter, Laura, Sherry Wilson and her children, Bryan, Mindy and Jeremy, Daniel (Susan) George, and Judy (Lee) Klemmer and their daughter, Annie May; nine great-grandchildren with one on the way; three great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Marlene Bethhold.

She was born December 1, 1956 in Edina, Missouri to William and Dixie Jane (McCoy) Allen. Dixie lived in Chicago, Illinois until moving to St. Joseph, Missouri in 1983.

Dixie married Richard Snyder April 25, 1987. He survives of the home. She enjoyed music, dancing, and camping, but most of all spending time with her family and friends.

He was born January 20, 1962 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Gloria and Robert Burkeybile. Rob enjoyed collecting baseball cards and playing video games. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Marjory Chevalier, Jean Parker, and Rosalie Simmonds, and his brothers, Ed Zvolanek and Joseph Zvolanek. 

Survivors include: his wife of 70 years Joann Mount Zvolanek, and children, Teresa Badgerow (Nick), Steve Zvolanek (Patti), Marty Zvolanek (Dee), and Faith Girard (Richard). His grandchildren: Michael Zvolanek, Carrie Smith, Anthony Badgerow, Samantha Draper, Mark Zvolanek, and James Badgerow, great-grandchildren: Audrey and Quentin Badgerow, Charlotte Badgerow, Amelia and Norah Smith, and Philip and Violet Draper. &nbsp;

John moved his family from Nebraska in 1957, where he worked as a Radio Operator for the Missouri State Highway Patrol for Troop B in Macon, MO. In 1971, they moved to St Joseph MO, where he was the Chief Radio Operator for the Patrol for Troop H. He retired in 1989. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

Jessica Lynn Reynolds, 32, St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021.

Jessica was born on October 3, 1988 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Michael and Andrea (Zuchowski) Reynolds.&nbsp; She was a proud 2007 graduate of Central High School.

Jessica loved working at Specialty Industries, where she made many friends. &nbsp;She was also very involved with Special Olympics and enjoyed participating in many of their sports and activities.

Jessica is survived by her father, Michael; fiance, Terry Nelson; maternal grandmother, Patricia Zuchowski; aunts, Kristi White (Randy), Julie Sutton (Max) and Angie Houk; uncles, Troy Gilbert and Willie Gilbert and numerous cousins and friends.

Patricia Lee Dennison (Gatrel), 83, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Lawson Manor and Rehab, Lawson, Missouri, the same day and month as her mother in 2015.

She was born on September 27, 1937, in Wayne County, Iowa, the oldest child of F.B. and Helen (McClain) Gatrel.

Patricia married James O. Dennison on December 5, 1959. They were members of the Church of the Brethren and spent ten years doing disaster service with the church. She enjoyed doing genealogy research and was involved in organizing many family reunions.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Survivors include her son James Lee and grandson Garrett J. Dennison, Claremore, Oklahoma and her son Jerry R. Dennison, St. Joseph, Missouri; brother, Gary R. Gatrel, Liberty, Missouri; sisters, Karen S. Polizzi and Sondra Kay, both of St. Joseph, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Patricia Lee Dennison (Gatrel)  1937 - 2021

Norris J. Hoskins, 91, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Norris was born on October 9, 1929 to Harold and Thelma Hoskins of Clarinda, Iowa.

He married Shirley Wilson on December 10, 1951 in The Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. They became parents of six daughters.

Norris served in the United States Navy from 1950-1954. He moved back to Missouri in 1960, where he started his truck-driving career, retiring from Yellow Freight Systems in 1991. He resided in St. Joseph, MO before moving to Savannah in 1997, where he resided until his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Shirley; his parents; 3 sisters and one brother; son-in-law, Michael Hyder; and great-grandchild, Brodee Becerra.

Norris is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Hyder, Sandy Blair (Jim Cobb), Gail Dunlap (Mike), Lori Lopez (Gelacio), Lisa Wise, and Sharon Hoskins. He had 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Stephen Paul Parrish, 72, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021.

He was born June 20, 1948 in St. Joseph to Charles and Geraldine (Wattenbarger) Parrish.

Stephen married Lydia Cruz on September 8, 1973. She survives of the home.

He had worked at Seitz Packing Company and then for 34 years at Johnson Controls.

Stephen was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Stephen enjoyed fishing, horse racing and country music. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Lydia; sons, Craig Parrish (Suzi), Jesse Parrish (Carrie), and Damian Parrish; grandchildren, Drake, Preston and Belle Parrish; and a sister, Cheryl Ream.

Carl Michiel McDaniel 73, of Union Star, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021 in a St. Joseph, MO hospital. 

He was born April 5, 1948 in Kansas City, KS, son of the late Mary and Lloyd McDaniel. He married Cheryl Pendleton on December 21, 1968, and she survives of the home. He served in the United States Army, during the Viet Nam Era. Carl worked Quaker Oats and retired after 33 years of service upon its closing, he then worked at the Savannah Middle School in the maintenance dept, and retired from there also. He enjoyed hunting, and his trips to Colorado, fishing and gardening, and was a member of King Hill Mason Lodge #376 A.F. &amp; A.M. and the Quaker Old Timers Club, he was a Baptist. 

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Amy McDaniel, 1 grandchild and a sister, Sherry Graham. 

Survivors include, wife, Cheryl McDaniel of of the home, daughters, Beth (Mark) Crabtree, and Wendy (Charlie) Pusateri of St. Joseph, MO., sons; Carl M McDaniel Jr., and Robert Saliger Jr. both of Union Star, MO, 12 Grandchildren 16 great grandchildren, 1 grandchild and 1 great grandchild on the way, and two sisters; Carolyn (Dan) Sponsel, Texas, and Becky Caruthers, Kansas City, MO.

Donald Edwin Higley, 91, of Atchison, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 13, 2021. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Cormode officiating. According to Don’s wishes, he will be cremated, and the family will hold a private family burial of cremated remains at a later date. He was raised in both Cummings and Horton, KS. Don married the love of his life, Dorothy Brun on June 26, 1953, at First Christian Church in Horton, KS. They raised one son, Gary Dean Higley, and three daughters, Cindy Higley, Cathy (Jeff) White, and Teila (Matthew) Keys, all of Atchison, KS. Their grandchildren and great grandchildren include Kea, Kilee, Emily, Elliot, Sam, Cody, Macie, Claire, Kailee, Aubrey, Romana, Ari, and Ira. Don was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving in the Korean War. He was passionate about his faith in Christ, caring for his family, high morals, and hard work. He was also a truck driver for Everest Creamery, retired truck driver of Midwest Grain Products, stock car racer, guitar player, and a perfectionist with all of life’s tasks. Don was well-known and highly admired for upholding the Gold Standard of a great man, in every aspect. Further, he always enjoyed his nightly conversations with his son, “Gary Boy.” He was a member of the Cummings Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon. Don was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Marie, brothers Fred, Tom, and Norman, son Gary, and infant daughter Dorothea. He is survived by his wife and family members mentioned above, along with his sister, Lois Ann Lindsey, Pilot Grove, MO.&nbsp;&nbsp;
