James Edward Bigham, 85, of Gower, MO passed away peacefully March 1, at Mosaic Life Care surrounded by loving family.

Jim was born September 20, 1935 to Robert Morton Bigham and Georgia (Wuerfele) Bigham.

Jim graduated from Central High School in 1952 and joined the Missouri Air National Guard (ANG) in 1953, retiring in December 1993.&nbsp; While in the ANG he served as First Sergeant for the 180th Flying Squadron for over 20 years.&nbsp; Jim was deployed to United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm for which he was awarded the Bronze Star.&nbsp; He was the recipient of many additional medals and commendations as well.

In 1957, Jim married Ruth Henkowski and together they had eight children.&nbsp; Their marriage ended, but they remained friends.

Jim loved bowling and was a youth coach.&nbsp; He bowled two 300 games and a 299.&nbsp; He was a member of the St. Joseph Bowler's Hall of Fame.&nbsp; Jim was an active outdoorsman, always on the move.&nbsp; He took great pride in grooming his historical Bigham Century Farm which he shared with his two protective cats.&nbsp; Jim never let grass grow under his feet.

Jim was proud of his children and grandchildren and loved them dearly.&nbsp; He will be missed by all of them.

Mr. Bigham is survived by: his best friend and companion, Rosalie Bigham; children, Stephen (Kim) Bigham, Jamie (Mark) Neu, Diane (Jim ) Anderson, Marlene (Terry) Seiter, Mark Bigham (Dianna McKinney), John (Kelly) Bigham, Marty (Amy) Bigham; twin brother Mort (Jackie) Bigham; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren soon to be 32 and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Susan Renee Bigham, and stepdaughter Heather Riley.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday March 4, 2021 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.&nbsp; Masks are required.&nbsp; A private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to The Children's Tumor Foundation CTF.org, The St. Joseph USBC (MO Bowling Association), or Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome, in care of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Marion Elizabeth Pettigrew (Stoos) passed away February 27, 2021 at her home in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Marion was born August 19, 1933 to William (Bill) and Elizabeth Stoos (Wall). She graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri. She married Curtis Pettigrew on May 6, 1955. Marion worked at the Commercial Credit Corporation for a few years and then operated a childcare business out of her home in South Myrna Manor for over thirty years. She provided daycare for hundreds of families and cared for several second-generation children. It was important to her for each child to receive a Christmas gift from her every year they were in her care. She was famous among the children for her fantastic grilled cheese sandwiches.

Marion was a Christian and had faith in her Lord. She loved to talk and visit with friends and family. She had the kindest heart, knew no anger, and always lived on the sunny side of life. She lived to see her children happy, loved to spend precious time with her grandchildren, and adored her two nieces, Marion (Randy) Mecca and Katie (Mike) Smith. Marion is preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Meder, and her sister, Dorothy Farr. She is survived by her husband, Curtis; son Tom and his wife, Beate of Shawnee, Kansas; son Greg and his wife, Susan of St. Joseph, Missouri; son Shawn and his wife, Mandy of Kidder, Missouri; seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Stanley "Stan" K. Bigelow 66, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 at his home. 

He was born August 24, 1954 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Patricia and Donald Bigelow Jr. He graduated from Lafayette High School, &nbsp;and he attended Missouri Western State University for 2 years. He married Rita "Susie" Rathburn on April 4, 1975 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. He was a St. Joseph Police Officer for several years, then worked most of his career in the corrugated box industry, retiring from Weyerhauser Corporation after 20 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing (especially in Canada.) He was an avid chiefs fan, and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Stan was a member of FOP, the Community Police Advisory Committee, the Cathedral School Board, and he was a Christian. 

He was preceded in death by father, Donald Lee Bigelow Jr. &nbsp;

Survivors include, wife, Susie Bigelow of the home, mother, Patricia Bigelow, St. Joseph, MO, son, Brian (Jacqueline) Bigelow, Olathe, KS, daughter, Christina (Scott) Johnson, St. Joseph, MO, brother, Wayne Bigelow (Jeannie Scott), St. Joseph, sister, Dawn Bigelow-White, St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren, Bryan &amp; Billy Willson, Brooklyn &amp; Breigh Bigelow, Madison &amp; Noah Johnson, and Colby Thornton.

Ruth M. Hudson, 87, of St. Joseph surrounded by her loving family at home, left to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 26, 2021. 

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Hazel Witt, and three brothers, Norman, Bob, and Tom Witt. 

Survivors of the home include her loving husband of 35 years, Dale V. Hudson, and a daughter, Nancy Briggs. She is also survived by Joyce (Tom) Bunse, Karen Hudson, Tammy Conway, Bob (Rhonda) Hudson, Dale V. Hudson Jr. (Colette), Joe (Marsha) Hudson, Tom (Shannon) Hudson, Chris (Theresa) Watkins, 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Mrs. Hudson will be cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home, and there are no scheduled services per Ruth's wishes. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army.

Maria D. Valdes-Saldamando, 45, of St. Joseph, formerly of Cuba, died Friday, February 26, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care. 

Born April 21, 1975 in Cuba to her late parents, Mario Valdes and Josephine Saldamando. Maria worked in production at Triumph Foods in St. Joseph. 

Survivors include her companion, Alexis Carrion Isaac of St. Joseph, daughter, Maricelis, and son, Arian, both of Cuba. 

Miss Valdes-Saldamando has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home.

Gregory Lee Pfleiderer, age 64, passed on February 25, 2021 in Saint Joseph, MO.  Gregory was born in Saint Joseph, MO on March 14, 1956, to Lloyd and Charlene Pfleiderer. 

 Gregory graduated from Maysville High School in 1974.  He married Cynthia Benedict on October 20, 1975.  He loved his family dearly as a son, husband, father, and ‘Papa’.  He enjoyed family time, hunting and fishing.  He was a man of many trades and owned a floor installation business.  Gregory has five children: William, Gregory, Lloyd, Kelsey and Heather. 

 Gregory was preceded in death by his mother, Charlene Pfleiderer and  siblings Brent Pfleiderer and Cynthia Pfleiderer. 

Gregory is survived by his wife, Cynthia Pfleiderer, his father, Lloyd Pfleiderer, his brothers Roderick Pfleiderer and Bart Pfleiderer, three children, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She was born February 11, 1993 to Rick and Ann (Grier) Edwards. Jessica graduated from Central High School in 2011.

She enjoyed shopping and dining with her mom, fishing with her dad and spending time with her son, Michael. She loved dragonflies and playing softball. She had a strong work ethic, a huge heart of gold and a beautiful, infectious smile. Jessica would help anyone in need and was an avid caretaker.

Jessica previously worked at: Kmart, Hy-Vee, Dunkin Donuts, Mosaic and Coca-Cola.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Courtney Edwards; her grandparents, Kathleen and Bill Grier and Chick and Phyllis Peavy.

Virginia McCoy, 88, of Atchison, KS died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021 at her home surround by her loving family. Virginia McCoy, 88, of Atchison, KS died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021 at her home surround by her loving family. Buster L. Mosier, 82, of rural St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021 at his home.

Jack Rose 91, of St Joseph, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021 in St. Joseph. He was born May 6, 1929 in St. Joseph, son of Anna and Thomas Ivan Rose. 

He graduated from Benton High School, class of 1947, and Missouri Western State College with a degree in Electronic Engineering. He served in the US Air Force as a Loadmaster. M/SGT Rose received the Distinguished Flying Cross for his participation as a crew member on a C-123 on a successful mission over a highly defended SE Asia theater. He also served in the US Air National Guard. Jack enjoyed working with electronics, and he was a skilled water skier and a skilled carpenter. He also enjoyed his vegetable gardening and photography. His motto was “if Jack couldn't fix it, nobody could.” Jack was also a member of the St. Joseph Barnstormer, and a member of St. James Catholic Church. 

Jack was preceded in death by father, Thomas Ivan Rose, mother, Anna Hannah Rose, and brother, William Rose. 

Survivors include, wife, Ardella Ramona Rose of the home, sister, Phyllis Bell of Columbia, MO, daughter, Renee Rose-Lovelady of St. Joseph, sons, Michael (Debbie) Rose of St. Joseph, and Bryan (Betsy) Rose of Kansas City, MO, grandchildren, Dan (Lisa) Gallagher, Amanda Lovelady, Tricia (Josh) Kirschner, Tim (Brandi) Rose, Matthew Rose, Sarah (Daniel) Fleuren, Blake Rose, Scott Rose, and Natalie Rose, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann, 86, St. Joseph, MO;&nbsp; passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mary Ann was born in St. Joseph, MO on June 9, 1934, to Eugene and Catherine Clark Morin.&nbsp; Mary Ann was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier parish and an active member of the Altar Society.&nbsp; She attended St. Francis Xavier School, and graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart in 1952.

Mary Ann married C.L. “Bud" Weaver on July 28, 1952.&nbsp; Bud and Mary Ann purchased Pioneer Material in 1970 and dedicated their lives to growing the family business.

Mary Ann enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren at their cabin on the Missouri River. She was also active in sports throughout her life, especially water sports and horses. She was the 1951 City Diving Champion. &nbsp;Mary Ann bred, raised, and showed Arabian horses, including the 1981 National Champion Half Arabian Mare, Taheem’s Khrisma.

She was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Catherine Morin, husband Bud Weaver, and brother Thomas Edward Morin.

Mary Ann is survived by her brother Eugene Clark (Dee) Morin, sister-in-law &nbsp;Rosalie Morin, and children Lou Ann Weaver, Phil (Julie) Weaver, grandchildren Joshua (Sarah) Weaver, Jessica Weaver, Zack (Danielle) Smith and Amber (Steve) Long, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Weaver has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Esther graduated from St. Joseph Central High school in 1951.&nbsp; She married Robert Baker in 1954, her lifelong partner of 67 years.&nbsp;

Together Esther and Robert raised their family in St. Joseph, and she worked for Heartland Health System over 21 years.

Esther was devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Esther is survived by her husband Robert Baker, her children Deborah (Dennis) Rathburn, Diana (Steven) Alden, Kevin Baker, and Roger Baker, grandchildren Adrienne (Nici) Dunaway, Sarah Clarke, Andrew (AJ) Alden, Emma Baker, Joseph Baker, John (Jack) Baker and three great grandchildren.

A private graveside interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Nancy (Harris) Lutes was born in St. Joseph, MO on July 3, 1933. Daughter of Joseph and Matilda Harris, she attended St Francis X grade school and graduated from Sacred Heart Convent in 1951. Nancy was a cheerleader for Christian Brothers High School and was also a football homecoming attendant. All through grade school and high school, Nancy was an avid athlete and enjoyed basketball, softball, dancing and riding horses. &nbsp;

Nancy worked at Mechanics Bank for several years and in 1954 married John Fuson, also of St Joseph, MO. From that union 5 children were born. &nbsp;Brenda Barnett, Mark Fuson, Pat Fuson, Dana Snider, and Eric Fuson. &nbsp;

While raising her family in Kansas City, they were members of St Gabriel's parish for 23 years. &nbsp;Nancy worked for St. Joseph Restaurant Supply for several years and then worked for the gift markets in sales and as a model. &nbsp;

In 1983, Nancy married Bill Lutes, who has one son, Bill Lutes, Jr. &nbsp;They lived in St Joseph for 7 years before moving to Alton, Il, where they resided for 13 years. &nbsp;While in Alton, Nancy was very active in the Alton Community Service League, St Mary's Church, bridge clubs, and she and Bill enjoyed tennis and socializing with friends. &nbsp;

In 2003, Nancy and Bill returned to St Joseph, Mo. &nbsp;They have been members of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church for many years where Nancy was active in the Altar Society, The Ladies of Charity, Daughters of Isabella, Runcie Club, Westward Gateway Chapter #1066 of the Questers, and the Charitable Ladies of St Joseph. &nbsp;

Nancy loved playing bridge with her friends and fishing with her family. &nbsp;Her love of antiquing is something she passed on to each of her 5 children and many of her 17 grandchildren/step-grandchildren. &nbsp;She was also blessed with 9 great grandchildren. &nbsp;

Nancy loved being with family, including her sisters Mary Joan Beckman, Janice Minnis and Suzy Auten, and her brothers David, Mike and Bill Harris, along with many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lutes has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.

A rosary will be recited at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Horigan Chapel at Mount Olivet Cemetery followed by the graveside committal and inurnment at 1:00 PM.

Nancy C. Lutes  1933 - 2021

Jaxon Ray Livingston, 5 months old, Gower, Missouri, passed away February 16, 2021.

He was born September 16, 2020 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Dillon Ray Livingston and Emily Ann Huntsman.

Jaxon had beautiful blue eyes that sparkled. He had the biggest smile and could brighten up anybody’s day. He liked to laugh at himself laughing. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great-great-grandfather; maternal great-grandfather; great-aunt; uncles, Jacob Livingston and Landon Smith.

Jaxon Ray Livingston, 5 months old, Gower, Missouri, passed away February 16, 2021. He was born September 16, 2020 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Dillon Ray Livingston and Emily Ann Huntsman. Jaxon had beautiful blue eyes that sparkled. He had the biggest smile and could brighten up anybody’s day. He liked to laugh at himself laughing. He will be greatly missed by everyone. He was preceded in death by his paternal great-great-grandfather; maternal great-grandfather; great-aunt; uncles, Jacob Livingston and Landon Smith. Paul Albert Ellsworth, 47, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021.

He was born February 18, 1974 in St. Joseph to Albert Galen and Loretta Kay (Stockwell) Ellsworth.

Paul grew up in St. Joseph and Savannah, Missouri. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School, Class of 1993.

He had worked as a corrections officer for the Missouri Department of Corrections. Most recently, he was kitchen manager at Culver’s. Paul was a big Chiefs fan, whether they won or lost. He also liked to play pool. He loved spending time with his boys. He went all-out for Christmas, making many of his own decorations for both inside and outside the house.

He was a fighter through two major cancers and never got down about it. He also was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kay Guy; and grandparents, Albert and Julia Ellsworth and Paul and Chloe Stockwell; and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include father and stepmother, Galen and Rosemary Ellsworth; children, Ezekiel and Ethan Ellsworth, and Elijah Steidel; granddaughter, Layla Ellsworth; sister, Jen Selecman (Sean); niece, Lilly Selecman; and step-siblings.

Gerald E. Harris, age 95, of King City, Missouri was born November 21, 1925 and passed from this life on February 22, 2021.

Gerald was the son of Orville and Nora (O’Day) Harris. He grew up farming in Nodaway County where he met the love of his life, Vivian Morris. They married on April 16, 1949. To this union six children were born and truly cherished.

The family moved to King City in 1974. Gerald led a good life, a simple life farming the land. His love for his family was evident in everything he did. He was a kind and generous man who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Preceding Gerald were his parents; brothers, Vincent, Donald and Norville.

Those left to treasure Gerald’s memory include his wife of 71 years; their children: Judy, Jerry (Kathy), Sheila, Mark (Lin), Greg (Tricia), and Scott (Suzanne); a sister, Leareta Clements; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Gary Wayne Collins, 69, of Saint Joseph, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. 

He was born March 11, 1951 in Excelsior Springs, MO, son of Wanda and RB Collins. He worked for over 20 years on oil rigs, &nbsp;and later he owned Show-Me Meats and Seafoods. Gary enjoyed going to auctions, spending time with his family, he loved watching westerns, and enjoyed fishing, raising alligators, and drinking Mountain Dew. 

Gary was preceded in death by father, RB Collins, mother, Wanda Collins, sister, Sharon Collins, brother, Ronnie Collins, sister, Teresa Collins, and son, Keith Allen Kimler.

He worked at Sherwood Medical, Johnson Controls and KCP&amp;L until retirement.

Chuck enjoyed working in the yard, reading and playing video games. He was preceded in death by his father, brother and sister-in-law, William and Trina Stokes.

Dorothy Jean Gnat, 92, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 20, 2021. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph, MO, spending only the last few years with her son, Larry, in Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Harris and Lorine Colson; beloved husband, Walter Gnat; brother, Floyd Jr. (Rosalie Steve) Harris; and grandson, Samuel Gnat.

She is survived by sons Andy (Kim Finnegan) Gnat and Larry (Victor Buzeta) Gnat; grandchildren, John Paul Gnat and Sara (Scott) Van Matre; great-grandmother of Nevaeh, John Paul Jr., Camry and Emalynn; beloved extended family in Chicago.

Dorothy was born February 10, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska, moving to St. Joseph as a young girl. Dorothy married Walter L. Gnat May 23, 1953. Together they owned and operated National Meat and Grocery in the South End for 47 years.

Dorothy loved horses and as a young woman was an exceptional rider. Her passion for water sports prompted her and Walter to purchase a home on Lake Contrary in 1958, where they resided until her move to Chicago. Dorothy enjoyed fishing and especially swimming. She volunteered for the Red Cross as a WSI, teaching swimming lessons at Hyde Park Pool. Later, she volunteered for 18 years as a swim instructor for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. One of her students won a gold medal at the Special Olympics. Upon joining McCarthy Baptist Church, Dorothy relished in all the activities and volunteer work of the parish, with instruction of Sunday school classes being her favorite. Dorothy always talked about the incredible friends she made with fellow parishioners. There are probably at least 1,000 crocheted hats for a neonate floating out in this world. Lastly, Dorothy was an amazing artist. She painted in many different mediums, but most famous were her dear friends and family that were recipients of yearly hand-painted Christmas, Birthday and Valentine’s Day cards.

Donald Cedric Brown, Jr. passed away on February 19, 2021 in Parkville, Missouri at the age of 84.

Born on January 19, 1937 in St. Joseph, Missouri, he graduated from Lafayette High School in 1954. Don served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954-1956. He attended St. Joseph Junior College and graduated from Tulsa University in 1962.

Don married Flo Ann Courtney on June 14, 1957. She survives of the home.

Don worked for Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1963-1966. After moving back to Kansas City, he worked for Midland International from 1968-1970, then he and a partner started Merchandise International and EMR Marketing, where Don was an icon in the electronics industry for more than 40 years.

After retirement, Don enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Don and Flo Ann lived part-time in Coronado, California, where he was very active in the Coronado Cays Yacht Club. He also supported numerous causes and foundations in support of children, the elderly, and animals. He also was a big Chiefs fan having season tickets since 1968, and loved watching sports, especially the Mizzou Tigers. He also contributed to the new football field at Lafayette High School.

Most of all, he loved spending time with his family at birthdays, holidays, at the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Cedric Brown, Sr. and Lura Louise Brown; and brother, Col. Roger Allen Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Flo Ann; children, Cheryl Churchman (Michael), Jeffrey Scott Brown, and Donald C. &nbsp; Roger Kelly Eylar, 69, formerly of Atchison, KS died Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the Village Villa Nursing Home, Nortonville, KS. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Fr. Jeremy Heppler , OSB officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Atchison. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Atchison Humane Society and may be left in care of the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com. Roger was born on Oct. 6, 1951 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Leslie and Darlene (Overton) Eylar. He had attended St. Benedicts Grade School, and Maur-Hill. Roger graduated from Atchison High School in 1969. He served in the United States Marines doing two tours during Vietnam Conflict. He returned and worked as an over-the-road truck driver for several different trucking companies before his health forced him to retire. Roger was a member of the VFW Post # 1175, and enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, gardening, and cutting wood. He was married to Pat McGuire on Dec. 21, 1981. They were later divorced. Survivors include two daughters Holly Moore, Kansas City, MO, and Natalie (Jason) Ochoa, Altamonte Springs, FL, a brother Martin J. Eylar, Atchison, a sister Pamela S. Goodman, Atchison, KS , five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His parents, an infant brother Raymond and an infant sister Linda preceded him in death.&nbsp;&nbsp;
