Linda S. Lakatos, 73, of St. Joseph died Tuesday,&nbsp; October &nbsp;27, 2020 at her residence.

Linda was born October 12, 1947 in St. Joseph, MO to Raymond “Dale” and Georgia Cornelius. She graduated in 1968 from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing and later completed her B.S. in Nursing at Northwest Missouri State University.

Throughout her 44-year nursing career, Linda worked in many areas including the emergency room, patient education, staff development, case management, and home health.&nbsp; She was a certified Diabetic Educator.

Linda was an active member of First Baptist Church of St. Joseph. She enjoyed gardening, entertaining, but most importantly, time with her 3 grandchildren. She is survived her son, Ken Monach of St. Joseph; daughter, Beth Sherman (Jon) of Weatherford, TX; brother, Bud Cornelius (Carla); sister, Cindy Arter; grandchildren, Emily Rose and Jacob Sherman, Mary Grace Monach; and 5 nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ms. Lakatos has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.

He was born October 20, 1958 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Marvin and Bertha (Legler) Sabbert. Doug selflessly loved everyone he knew, living his life for Christ and his twins. Doug was member of Blue Lodge-No. 13, A.F. &amp; A.M., Scottish Rite 32nd Degree, Moila Shrine, and Hugh DePayens Commandry – No. 4, Knights Templar. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness at Kansas State University, where Doug was a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda social fraternity. He worked at the Internal Revenue Service for 15 years and was in customer service relations with Sporting KC for the last seven years. Doug was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Olathe, Kansas. He was an avid Trump Supporter.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his children, Caitlyn N. Sabbert-Fowler (Nick), Overland Park, Kansas, Conner A. Sabbert, Kansas City, Missouri; siblings, Richard D. Charles Wesley “Wes” Remington, 88, St. Joseph, Missouri died Monday, October 26, 2020 at his home.

He was born on June 6, 1932 to Charles Frederick and Nora Gladys (Laughlin) Remington in Lexington, Missouri.

Mr. Remington was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1950, and attended North East State College in Kirkville, Missouri on a football scholarship.

Wes married Patsy Lee Smith on February 28, 1953. She preceded him in death on July 25, 2018

He joined Anchor Serum, St. Joseph, in 1956 as a sales trainee and eventually assumed Presidency. The firm was purchased by Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica. In 1971 he began launching a string of St. Joseph based Agri Health companies. Among them was Med-Tech, Inc. which was later called Tech America Group, Inc., a subsidiary of which introduced the industry’s first genetically engineered vaccines in 1980. Another Subsidary developed the World’s First Canine Parvovirus Vaccine in 1981. In 1984 Wes and his son, Scott, founded Agri Laboratories, the largest animal health distribution network in the country.

Mr. Remington was instrumental in the passing of a federal generic animal health drug bill in 1984. Phoenix Scientific was the first company to manufacture off-patent animal drugs. Phoenix Pharmaceuticals became the marketing company. Wes was not finished; he founded Pet Resorts, Inc., known as Pete &amp; Mac’s Pet Resorts for Boarding and grooming animals.

He and his wife were instrumental in developing the Remington Nature Center, a learning and conference center on the Missouri River in St. Joseph. Additionally, with Wes and Patsy’s leadership, Heartland Health partnered with the Mayo Clinic of Scottsdale, Arizona to establish the Tele Stroke Network in June 2011.

He was the first Recipient of the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor for Life Sciences Achievement Award. Wes received an honorary Doctorate degree from Missouri Western State University, where Remington Hall and Remington Drive were named in his and Patsy’s honor.

Mr. Remington was a member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church, St. Joseph Country Club where he was a former board member, Benton Club, former member of St. Joseph Elks Lodge, No. 49, B.P.O.E; Masonic Lodge; Thirty-Second Degree Scottish Rite Mason; Moila Shrine, past board member of the American Animal Health Institute, past president of the National Animal Health Distribution Association and he was very active with the St. Joseph Metro Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Development.

Survivors: four children, Stephanie Remington-Zoroya, Scottsdale, Arizona, Lee Ann Swartz, Savannah, Missouri, C. Richard L. Hart, 79, Savannah, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020.

He was born November 12, 1940 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Clarence and Lillie (Whitman) Hart.

Richard was a residence of Shady Lawn Nursing Home for 53 years. He was very kindhearted and a friend to all. He kept the dining room clean and even the nurse’s stations, whether they wanted them cleaned or not. Richard will be missed by everyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marjorie Hart; brothers, John and Charles Hart.

Survivors include his brother, Robert Hart of Texas.

Luster Sharp, Jr., 80, Savannah, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020.

He was born October 9, 1940 to Luster and Alma (Brown) Sharp, Sr in Trenton, Missouri. Luster married Mary Walker April 3, 1970; she survives of the home. He was an over the road truck driver all his life, a retired Teamster from ABF Trucking. Luster loved children and was a foster parent for many years. He had a great sense of humor. Luster was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters and 6 brothers.

Brian Jay Hoffmann 45, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020. 

He was born December 22, 1974 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Tina and Brian Hoffmann. He graduated from South Holt High School. He enjoyed fishing, and owned his own bait shop in Savannah, MO, at one time. He was a Christian. 

Brian was preceded in death by brother, Shaun Hoffmann. 

Survivors include, mother Tina Hoffman, father Brian Hoffman, 3 children, sister, Kristi Hoffmann, brother, Jason (Beth) Hoffmann, 2 nieces, Everly Hoffmann, and Aleaha McCartney.

Barbara Ann Farley, 87, longtime Highland College educator, died Friday morning at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, KS after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born June 27, 1933, Barb was the only daughter of Lyle and Ombra (Snapp) Benson. A lifelong area resident, she attended White Cloud High school, where she met Lewis Duane Farley. They graduated together from White Cloud in 1954. They were married on December 22, 1957 and made their home in Highland all their married life.

&nbsp;Barb went on to complete degrees from Highland Community College, Benedictine College, and Kansas State University. She often said she went back to school and never left. Barb was dedicated to education, teaching first in one room schools, then Highland Grade School, and finally Highland College where she ran the GED program for many years. She found helping adults to complete their high school diplomas to be particularly rewarding. After her retirement she spent many hours working in her yard and garden.

Survivors include daughter Elizabeth Farley Metzger, Tempe, Arizona, son David Wayne Farley of Highland, and brother Wayne Benson of Highland. Of the many young people Barb and Duane took under their wing, Barb was particularly fond of Kinsey (Riley) Oliphant, Excelsior Springs, MO, who she considered an adopted granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Duane July 24, 2018.

Joint Services for Duane and Barbara are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, October 31, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland.&nbsp; Military honors a courtesy of Brown County Veterans Honor Guard.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow at Highland Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services.

Marvin C. Legg, 83, Cameron, Missouri passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020.

He was born September 30, 1937 in Kansas City, Kansas to Carl Powell and Hester (Bell) Legg. Marvin married Dorothy Rose July 8, 2018; she survives of the home. He was a weapons specialist in the United States Army. Marvin was of the Christian faith. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 57 years, Doris Legg; and sister, Patsy Powell.

Karen Faye Merritt passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2020. Karen was born November 17, 1945, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, to Dillard and Rose (Kozak) Wales. She married Dennis G. Merritt on November 5, 1993. He preceded her in death April 9, 2002. She worked as a cashier in Cushing, Oklahoma, and Kmart in St. Joseph when Dennis retired from logging and they moved back to St. Joseph. Also preceding her in death beside her parents and husband are sister, Sharon Wales; brother, Dean Wales; daughters, Diana Lindsey and Michelle Walts; and grandson, Jeremy Lindsey. She is survived by children Dennis C. (Connie) Merritt, Hemple, Missori, Mark Merritt, Marvin (Cindy) Merritt and Paula (Mike) Welsh of St. Joseph; sister Rosalyn McBride, Stillwater, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends. Karen loved family gatherings, cooking for family and friends and playing bingo and card games. She will be greatly missed. Chester M. “Chet” Jones, 98, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 23, 2020.

He was born January 8, 1922 in Dawn, Missouri to Virgil and Nettie (Stouffer) Jones. Chet married Helen Frances Griffin December 24, 1948. She survives of the home. He moved to St. Joseph in 1951 and was a barber at the former Robidoux Hotel. He later started Chet’s Barber Shop and was a barber for 50 years. Chet was a member of the St. Joseph Lodge #78, AF &amp; AM; 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason; Moila Shrine; Southside Lions Club and Master Barbers Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lowell, Donald, Roger, William and Terry Jones; sisters, Evelyn Chambers, Phyllis Tutt and Vivian Johnson.

Additional survivors include children, Beverlie Jo Griffin (Jerry), Randy Jones (Brenda), Rick Jones (Valeri); grandchildren, Ernie Griffin, Cody “Wyoming” Griffin (Kimmi Queen), Casey R. Loretta Lynn Davis 56, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday October 24, 2020 at her home. 

She was born August 22, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois daughter of the late Madeline &amp; Berle Parr. She graduated from East Buchanan High School, and worked at Amazon as a distribution clerk. She enjoyed fishing, care giving, watching her grandchildren play sports and practicing her faith as a Jehovah Witness, she never knew a stranger. 

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, and a son Christopher Davis. 

Survivors include: daughter, Charla Davis, Grantsburg, IL, sons, Chad and Corey Davis, St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren, Chad Davis Jr, Kolton and Makena Schroeder, sister, Denise (Phillip) Pass, Metropolis, IL, adopted brothers, Eddy Guess, and Paul (Penny) Shelton, and 5 sisters and 3 brothers, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

There will be a celebration of Loretta's life at her home from 2-4 pm Saturday November 7, 2020 with memorial services and live stream following at the Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah's Witnesses. She will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.

Merlin "Hervey" Mears, 75, passed surrounded by his loved ones, October 24, 2020.

He was born June 27, 1945, in St. Joseph, Missouri , to the late Roy and Opal (Wood) Mears. He was a graduate from Faucett High School in 1963.

Along with his parents, Merlin is preceded in death by his twin brother, Marlin "Harvey" Mears and brother, Fred Mears; and his beloved dog, Maddy.

Merlin is survived by his children, Tammy (Jeff) Beckert, Todd (Chelly) Mears, Jerri (Mike) Cordonnier, Sara (Gabe Parks) Mears; grandchildren, Abby, Stephanie, Bailey, Jaycie, Jaydon, Zachary, Noah, Jensyn; three great-grandsons; siblings, Sharon Stafford, Ed Mears and Karon Skaggs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Nurses at Mosaic Hospital for their care and compassion.

Per Merlin's wishes, he requested to be cremated. There will be no services at this time. Arrangements made under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.

Bernardine E. McAfee, 95, of St. Joseph, passed away October 23, 2020.&nbsp; Bernardine was born May 17, 1925 in Wathena, KS, to William and Elizabeth (Debeque) Greub.&nbsp;

She was a teacher for over 37 years, starting in a one room school house in Amazonia.&nbsp; Bernardine retired from Cathedral school in 1990.

She was a member of Cathedral of St. Joseph where she married Lawrence McAfee on June 26, 1948.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on August 16, 2014.&nbsp; She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ann Gebhard.

Survivors include sons, Ron McAfee (Diana), Ken McAfee (Marsha); three grandsons, John McAfee (Jenny), Nathan McAfee (Lauren), Nick McAfee (Sadara); five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Her family always looked forward to her decorated holiday sugar cookies. She was a volunteer at the Andrew County Food Pantry. Bernardine also served on the Andrew County Senior Citizens Tax Fund Board.

The family would like to thank Country Squire and Freudenthal Home Health and Hospice.

Glenda Marie Thompson, 84, of Weston, MO died Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the Northcare Hospice House, North Kansas City, MO. After leaving the hospital, she also worked for several other surgeons in Leavenworth, KS before retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Winchester Christian Church, the Early Bird Bowling League, and Atchison Bowling Association, bowling for over 60 years including 25 State Bowling Tournaments and 20 National Bowling Tournaments. She especially enjoyed traveling; camping, but her true joy and passion were her grandchildren and especially her great-grandchildren. Survivors include three children; Rick (Rita) Thompson, Topeka, KS, Pamela (Thompson) Goodliff, Weston, MO and Tim Thompson, Lawrence, KS; a brother Larry (Peggy) Ragland, Leavenworth, KS, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Her parents, a brother Loren Ragland, and sisters Ellen (Jim) Perine and Betty (Alvin) Reynolds preceded her in death.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She grew up in Winchester, KS attending Winchester High School. Glenda worked as an operating room technician for Jefferson County Memorial Hospital for over 30 dedicated years. After leaving the hospital, she also worked for several other surgeons in Leavenworth, KS before retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Winchester Christian Church, the Early Bird Bowling League, and Atchison Bowling Association, bowling for over 60 years including 25 State Bowling Tournaments and 20 National Bowling Tournaments. She especially enjoyed traveling; camping, but her true joy and passion were her grandchildren and especially her great-grandchildren. Survivors include three children; Rick (Rita) Thompson, Topeka, KS, Pamela (Thompson) Goodliff, Weston, MO and Tim Thompson, Lawrence, KS; a brother Larry (Peggy) Ragland, Leavenworth, KS, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. LeRoy L. Hausman, 91, Clarksdale, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020.

He was born March 11, 1929, in St. Joseph to Edward J. and Agnes J. (Nold) Hausman. LeRoy married Gladise V. “Terri” Hamilton on February 4, 1949. She survives of the home. He was an electrician and farmer. He was a member of the IBEW and was proud to recently receive his 70-year pin. He also was active in the Christ Episcopal Church Men’s Group and the Clarksdale Lions Club. LeRoy was an avid fisherman and card player, who also enjoyed gardening and loved farming.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and a grandchild, Ridgley Fitzsimmons.

Survivors include wife, Gladise “Terri” Hausman; children, Cathy Fitzsimmons, Michael Hausman (Linda), and Stephanie Justin (Tony); grandchildren, Brian Hausman, Amy Spaeth (Conrad), Nicole Willis (Marcus), and Lindsay Massey (Brandon); eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenneth W. Thurn, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020.

He was born August 15, 1929, in Denton, Kansas to Joseph and Ora (Cordonier) Thurn. Kenneth married Maxine Earp December 24, 1951. She survives of the home.

Kenneth was a loving husband; wonderful father; proud uncle; grandfather and great-grandfather; genuine friend; unassuming Devil Dog and the greatest truck driver in history! He watched or listened to every Royal/Cardinal baseball game ever played and was especially dispirited that there might not be a season this year (good things DO come to good people). No matter how bad things got, he always said he had it “better than some, worse than others,” and accepted the circumstances of the past year with dignity, grace and understanding. To the very end, his mind was sharp, the twinkle was always present in his eye and the jokes never ceased to roll off his tongue. He was a great soul and will live in our hearts forever.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Leo Thurn.

Additional survivors include children, Gregg, Wayne and Sherry Thurn; grandchildren, Taylor, Ted, Tim, Travis, Thom, Josh and Tyson Thurn; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Don Thurn (Rita); numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard Cory Larson, 82, of King City, Missouri (formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri and Brevard, North Carolina) passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020.

He was born on June 3, 1938 in Oak Park, Illinois to Henry L. and Dorothy Larson. He graduated from Downers Grove High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Case Institute of Technology. In 1960, he married Suzanne Long. He worked for the Quaker Oats Company, serving as the plant manager in St. Joseph before moving to the Chicago area to work at the Quaker corporate headquarters. Upon retirement in 1995, Dick and his wife, Sue, moved to Connestee Falls in Brevard, North Carolina.

Dick was very civic minded and involved in many of the communities in which he lived. He served and chaired on many organizations, including United Way Campaigns, Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts of America (of which he was an Eagle Scout), the Connestee Falls Property Owners Association and the Transylvania Regional Hospital Board. He traveled around the world with his wife and loved to share videos of all the places they had been. He loved to duck hunt, fly fish and play golf. He also loved to sing. He was a member of Hammer Memorial Church where he sang in the choir.

He was proceeded in death by his wife of 54 years; parents; and brother, Henry.

Survivors include children, Laura Shifflett (Steve), Todd Larson (Amy), and Penny Graham (Chris); grandchildren, Stuart Shifflett (Jordan), Todd Shifflett (Alyssa), Cory Larson (Kimberly), Abby Larson, and Alaina, Sydney and Nora Graham; great-grandchildren, Finnley and Sutton Shifflett and Merrick Shifflett as well as two more on the way; and his brother, David Larson (Joanne).

Reverend Charles Albert Walker Jr was born August 21, 1946 to Charles and Mary Walker of St. Joseph, Mo. He passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020 due to complications of COVID.

Charles grew up in St. Joseph, Mo. He spent his whole life in St. Joseph, attending Lake Contrary Elementary through graduation from Benton High School in 1966. He went on to attend the International Gospel Association Seminary, where he received his Doctorate in Theology. He met his wife, Betty J. Burton, at a church service, and they were married after just 2 weeks on September 15, 1973. They were married for 44 years. They had 4 children. Charles was in the ministry for 55 years as an Evangelist Pastor. He was currently ministering for Pastor Brian Gitthens at the Reach Church in Cameron, Mo. He also taught at South Park Christian Academy for 15 years. he loved teaching and helping wherever he was needed.

He enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's sports games and extra curricular activities to cheer them and their teams on, he was definitely the loudest fan.

Charles was proceeded in death his by his wife, Betty J Walker, his parents, Charles Sr and Mary Walker, his 4 brothers, Marion Smith, David Smith, William (Bill) Smith, and James Smith. 

He is survived by his 4 children: son, Jonathan Walker, daughters, Melody Vallejo, Jenny Trueblood, and Charity (Abioeun) Onakoyo, his grandchildren, Rebecca Vallejo, Isaac Vallejo, Melinda Lopez, Taylor Miller, Tyler Miller, Benjamin Trueblood Jr, and Isaiah Walker, and 4 great grandchildren.

Patricia E. “Pat” Larson, of Horton, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 22, 2020, at the Hiawatha Community Hospital.

She was the daughter of Melvin and Evelyn Fulk Larson and was a lifelong resident of Brown County.&nbsp; She grew up&nbsp; at Willis where she attended school, later graduating from high school there.

Pat worked as an operator for United Telephone Co. in Hiawatha.&nbsp; She then obtained her RN degree from Stormont-Vail in Topeka, KS and worked at Tri-County Manor as director of nursing for many years prior to working at Valley Hope in Atchison until she retired.

Her faith was a very important part of her life.&nbsp; She was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Horton where she helped teach in the nursery class and with Faith and Fun Club for several years.

Pat was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed cheering them to victory in the Super Bowl.&nbsp; She also loved big family gatherings and visiting with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles.

Survivors include twin brothers Bill Larson (Marilyn) of Atchison, James Larson (Barbara) of Hiawatha, numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

Graveside funeral services are planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, October 24, at the Claytonville Cemetery, south of Hiawatha.&nbsp; Pastor Tom Stone will officiate.

Delores P. Moyer  1934 - 2020

Earl Myers, 100, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2020 at the home of daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Craig Mosher.&nbsp; He lived a full life of 100 years.

Earl was born to Julia Myers in the home of his paternal grandparents on a bitterly cold February morning.&nbsp; Much to his Aunt Mattie's chagrin he was placed in her arms with instructions to sit behind the wood stove for days to keep that baby warm.&nbsp; He was special to the Myers's family as his father Earl had died five months before his birth in the service of his country during WWI.

Earl had a full childhood.&nbsp;&nbsp; As a child of the depression, he made do with what he had.&nbsp; His mother remarried to Earl Sr.'s brother, Elmer.&nbsp; That union produced three siblings for Earl; Elmer, Catherine and Robert.

After graduation from Lafayette in 1938, Earl began work at the St. Joseph Light &amp; Power and continued his education at St. Joseph Junior College.&nbsp; During this time, a pretty brunette walked into his life.&nbsp; So did Uncle Sam.&nbsp; Earl joined the Army and became the youngest soldier at that time to graduate from OCS.&nbsp; The newly commissioned 2nd Lieutenant married that brunette, Arline Silverthorn.&nbsp; After four months of marriage, Earl shipped out to North Africa and the beaches of Anzio.&nbsp; After liberating Italy and narrowly missing D-day, he returned home to start his new life.

The couple moved to Rolla where Earl graduated with his degree in Chemical Engineering from the Missouri School of Mines.&nbsp; After a brief stint at the power plant in Monahans, Texas, Arline and newborn daughter Julia returned to St. Joseph where he started his 40 year career as chief chemist at the St. Joseph Light &amp; Power Company.

During these happy years a son, Mike was born. Earl became a Mason and joined Moila and thoroughly enjoyed the marching unit.&nbsp; He loved the cadence of the march, his best memory of the Army.

After his retirement, he and Arline enjoyed many winters in Marco Island, Florida with their dear friends Nadine and Denton Matteson.&nbsp; Summers were spent designing and tending the gardens at Robidoux Row . For their efforts, they were honored as one of the "20 Who Count" in the News Press.&nbsp; Earl began to embroider and created intricate and beautiful counter cross stitch images.&nbsp; He also enjoyed reading, playing golf and reminiscing.

Arline passed in 2012 and Earl spent his remaining years in the home of his daughter.&nbsp; He planted pots for her garden right up to the time of his death.&nbsp; He also lived to watch his grandson, Colton Craig , march on the Plain at West Point, calling perfect cadence as the cadets marched by the computer screen.

Earl is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife and son Michael.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, nieces and nephews and four grandsons; Christopher, Andrew, Aaron Craig and Jack Chew, and five great-grandchildren.

Earl and Julia would like to thank his loving and dedicated caregivers Brenda and Karrie and the staff of Mosaic Hospice, Nicole RN, Shelly, Kim and Sandy.&nbsp; They filled his last years with companionship.

Mr. Myers has been cremated under the direction of the Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.

Military Honors will be rendered in December when Cadet Colton Craig can participate in the services and the family will gather.

Earl Myers, 100, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2020 at the home of daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Craig Mosher.&nbsp; He lived a full life of 100 years.Earl was born to Julia Myers in the home of his paternal grandparents on a bitterly cold February morning.&nbsp; Much to his Aunt Mattie's chagrin he was placed in her arms with instructions to sit behind the wood stove for days to keep that baby warm.&nbsp; He was special to the Myers's family as his father Earl had died five months before his birth in the service of his country during WWI.Earl had a full childhood.&nbsp;&nbsp; As a child of the depression, he made do with what he had.&nbsp; His mother remarried to Earl Sr.'s brother, Elmer.&nbsp; That union produced three siblings for Earl; Elmer, Catherine and Robert.After graduation from Lafayette in 1938, Earl began work at the St. Joseph Light &amp; Power and continued his education at St. Joseph Junior College.&nbsp; During this time, a pretty brunette walked into his life.&nbsp; So did Uncle Sam.&nbsp; Earl joined the Army and became the youngest soldier at that time to graduate from OCS.&nbsp; The newly commissioned 2nd Lieutenant married that brunette, Arline Silverthorn.&nbsp; After four months of marriage, Earl shipped out to North Africa and the beaches of Anzio.&nbsp; After liberating Italy and narrowly missing D-day, he returned home to start his new life.The couple moved to Rolla where Earl graduated with his degree in Chemical Engineering from the Missouri School of Mines.&nbsp; After a brief stint at the power plant in Monahans, Texas, Arline and newborn daughter Julia returned to St. Joseph where he started his 40 year career as chief chemist at the St. Joseph Light &amp; Power Company.During these happy years a son, Mike was born. Earl became a Mason and joined Moila and thoroughly enjoyed the marching unit.&nbsp; He loved the cadence of the march, his best memory of the Army.After his retirement, he and Arline enjoyed many winters in Marco Island, Florida with their dear friends Nadine and Denton Matteson.&nbsp; Summers were spent designing and tending the gardens at Robidoux Row . For their efforts, they were honored as one of the "20 Who Count" in the News Press.&nbsp; Earl began to embroider and created intricate and beautiful counter cross stitch images.&nbsp; He also enjoyed reading, playing golf and reminiscing.Arline passed in 2012 and Earl spent his remaining years in the home of his daughter.&nbsp; He planted pots for her garden right up to the time of his death.&nbsp; He also lived to watch his grandson, Colton Craig , march on the Plain at West Point, calling perfect cadence as the cadets marched by the computer screen.Earl is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife and son Michael.He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, nieces and nephews and four grandsons; Christopher, Andrew, Aaron Craig and Jack Chew, and five great-grandchildren.Earl and Julia would like to thank his loving and dedicated caregivers Brenda and Karrie and the staff of Mosaic Hospice, Nicole RN, Shelly, Kim and Sandy.&nbsp; They filled his last years with companionship.Mr. Myers has been cremated under the direction of the Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.Military Honors will be rendered in December when Cadet Colton Craig can participate in the services and the family will gather.<figure>

Michael Stephen Przybylski, age 71, reunited with his wife, Lisa Ann Przybylski on October 22nd, 2020. Lisa recently passed away in September of this year.

They were able to celebrate their 50th anniversary on April 3rd, 2020.

Mike is survived by his children, Ann (Ryan) Swank, and Michael (Stacy) Przybylski Jr.; Grandchildren Rylan (Amber) Swank, Kaitlyn (Preston) Burton, Megan and Allyson Swank, and Jack and Ella Przybylski; His great grandchildren, Maci Burton, Natalie and Nathan Elwood, Rider Swank, and another baby Swank on the way. His siblings, John (Marsha) Przybylski, Robert Przybylski, Janice (Mark) Mallon, and Charles (Susan) Przybylski. As well as many cousins, nieces and nephews, who he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph and Agnes Rose Przybylski and sister-in Law; Bonnie Przybylski

Mike was born January 5th, 1949 in Saint Joseph, MO. He graduated from Christian Brothers, then was drafted to serve our country shortly after, where he and Lisa had the opportunity to live in Germany.

When they returned home Mike worked for Quaker Oats for many years until they closed. He continued his career at Mead, and then finished his last years of employment working for the Saint Joseph School District.

In the time Mike’s wife Lisa fell ill, he stood by her side supporting her and being her primary care giver until her passing. Mike always ensured his family was well taken care of and was very supportive of their success.

Mike had a special love for his family and friends. He loved attending as many events as possible to support his children and grandchildren.

He was an avid sports fan, and particularly loved watching Mizzou and Chiefs Football, Royals Baseball, and hockey. He loved fishing, traveling with family, and listening to music from the 50s. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Open visitation will be from 1:00 - 4:00 PM on Monday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.&nbsp; The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday evening at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.&nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial 1:00 PM, Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment will follow the mass at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO (World Health Organization).

Michael Stephen Przybylski  1949 - 2020

Rex C “Bud” DeShon, Jr, 89, passed away on October 22, 2020 at a local healthcare facility after a lengthy illness.

He was born on March 3, 1931 to Rex C DeShon, Sr and Agnes (Grooms) DeShon in St Joseph, Missouri. He attended the one-room Riverside Grade School and graduated from Central High School in 1948. On March 7, 1953, he married Louise Cobaugh. Following discharge from the U.S. Army in 1955, he and Louise started farming east of St. Joseph. With his brother, Larry, they operated a Grade A Registered Holstein Dairy until 1997. They received a Balanced Farming Award in 1967. After retiring from dairying, Bud and Louise wintered in Florida and South Padre Island, Texas returning in time for spring planting. Through Louise’s dog breeding, shows and winter travel they made many friendships across the country. Louise preceded him in death in 2017 as well as his parents.

Bud had a 50+ year 32nd degree member of the Cosby Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, the Moila Shrine and the Huffman United Methodist Church. He also served as a Director of The Heritage Bank.

Bud is survived by his son, Rex, III (Mary Kay), his brothers, Richard (Mignon) DeShon, Larry (Linda) DeShon, sister in-law Natalie Lewis, two step-grandsons, Derec (Natalie) Euler, Brian (Shelby) Euler, three step-great grandchildren, Lennon, Grant and Fallon Euler all of Kansas City, MO, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
