Richie “Rich” Poe, 74, Stanberry, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021.

He was born in St. Joseph, Missouri to Jerry and Geneva (Bennett) Poe. Rich married Linda Kay Claycomb December 21, 1972. She survives of the home.

He enjoyed going for rides on his Harley Davidson, building birdhouses and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ron Poe.

Additional survivors include sons, Tevis Poe, Ty Poe (Wendy), Rick Poe; grandchildren, Elia, Rikki and Kara Poe; numerous nieces and nephews.

Arlene McCammon, age 87, of Macon, MO passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021.

Arlene was born on May 12, 1934 in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of Artie and Thelma (Taylor) Kunzelmann. Growing up in St. Joseph, she worked in the Kunzelmann Family Bakery followed by the Wire Rope Corporation.

She was united in marriage to Donald McCammon on September 19, 1954 in St. Joseph who preceded her in death on September 29, 2000. 

At the age of 50, she began taking college classes at Northeast Missouri State University and enjoyed being a substitute teacher with Macon Schools. Not only did she enjoy attending auctions, she worked as a cashier for both Hulett Auction Co and Charlie Burkhardt Auction Co. She volunteered for the Macon High School Band, Macon Area Food Distribution, and the First Christian Church. Her past-times included watching softball, listening to Daniel O’Donnell, shopping garage sales and auctions. She was a member of the First Christian Church and Red Hat Ladies. Family meant the world to Arlene and she loved spending time with them, especially her children and grandchildren.

Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her younger sister, Laura Springs.

She is survived by her son, Patrick and his wife Milla of Faucett, MO, her daughter Pamela Davidson and her husband Wade of Moberly, MO, her son Craig and his wife Jean of Chesterfield, MO; Five grandchildren Forest Davidson of Alpine, WY, Audrey Davidson of Loveland, CO, Drake Davidson of Spearfish, SD, Colin and Katherine (Kate) McCammon of Chesterfield, MO; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Meierhoffer Funeral Home in St. Joseph from 2:00 to 2:45 pm on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Graveside will be held at 3:00 pm at the Memorial Park in St. Joseph, MO on Frederick Ave. The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church of Macon or the Macon Band Boosters.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Brenda Lynn Nevels 70, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 in a Saint Joseph, MO health care center. 

She was born April 30, 1951 in Brigham City, Utah, daughter of Clea &amp; Lars Buist. She was homemaker, who worked in various nursing homes. 

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents. 

Survivors include: daughters, Jennifer (Jacob) McMillian, Cyndee (Kyle) Sole, and Trudy (Robert) Roe, son, Phillip (Kassie) Pay, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, a sister, Judy Simmons, and brothers, Johnny Buist and Jerry Buist. 

She will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. There are no scheduled services at this time.

Brian Thalasinos, 44, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021.

On October 6, 1977 he was born in Denver, Colorado to Steve and Kathleen (Maher) Thalasinos.

Brian had many talents. He was artistic, musical, a wonderful cook, and a builder/remodeler of homes.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; uncle, Jim; and aunt, Loretta.

Survivors include his children, Nico, Caki, Mateo; parents; siblings, Brett, Patrick, Mary Miernowski (Conrad); numerous extended family and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Patti Hart, 65, Saint Joseph, passed away Wednesday October 27,2021 in her sleep.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Patti was born on June 7, 1956 in Saint Joseph, Missouri to Laura (Seever) Guyer and Clifford Guyer.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She attended Benton High School then went to work at Hall Abstract.&nbsp; She finally went to work for Saint Joseph School District as the secretary at Hyde Elementary School where she was loved by students, faculty and parents for over 20 years until she retired in 2015.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Hart Sr., her son Michael Hart Jr., mother Laura Guyer, father Clifford Guyer, sister Kathy Merrick, and brother Steven Guyer.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She loved spending time with her friends and family. She is survived by sons&nbsp; Shawn Lorenz and wife Kristi, Scott Hart and wife Tonya, daughters, Jamie Smith and husband Skyler, and Cynthia Hart.&nbsp; Twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Kristen Hart; &nbsp; Her significant other Steven Annigian and her prior husband Larry Lorenz. Sisters Janet Traster, Pam Guyer, Charlene Meinert, &nbsp;Donna Cook, and brothers, Charles Guyer, Gary Guyer and numerous nieces and nephews.

Geraldine Elizabeth Mier, 91, St. Joseph passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, October 27, 2021.

She was born September 4, 1930 in Sullivan, Missouri, to Hugh and Annette (Mantels) Peterson. She earned her bachelor’s degree in home economics from Park College and a master’s degree from the University of Missouri.

Geraldine married William Mier on August 7, 1955. He survives of the home.

She taught home economics in Essex, IA, Shenandoah, IA, the University of Missouri-Columbia, Richmond, MO, and for 17 years at Central High School in St. Joseph. Geraldine was very active in the community. As a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, she was an Elder, Clerk of Session, Superintendent of Sunday School, sang in the Choir, and was Moderator of Presbyterian Women. She was a 72-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Areme Chapter #461, Past Matron, and Organist. Geraldine was also Past President of P.E.O., Chapter HY; Past President of the Professional Home Economics Club of St. Joseph; Past President of Social Order of Beauceant; a member of Needles of Moila and Retired Teachers of St. Joseph and Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Marlon Mier (Teresa), Gower, MO, and Aaron Mier (Stevie), Kemerer, WY; grandsons, Collin Mier and Jace Zeit; other extended family and friends.

Geraldine E. Mier  1930 - 2021

Margaret Ann Nash, 70, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 after a lengthy battle with cancer at her brother and sister-in-law's home in St. Joseph, who were her angels that cared for her during her 2 months of hospice care. 

She was born January 31, 1951 in St. Joseph, daughter of Elanore (Derr) and James Nash. She graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School, class of 1969 and attended Missouri Western State College for 2 years. Margaret began her career at Sister's Hospital then transitioned to Heartland Health which eventually became Mosaic Life Care. She retired as a transcriptionist after 44 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially their driveway parties, crocheting and decorating the house and yard for holiday's. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. 

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents. 

Survivors include, daughter, Andrea (David) Miller of St. Joseph, brothers, Patrick (Alana) Nash and Michael (Lorrie) Nash of St. Joseph, sister, Mary (James) Evans of Long Lane, MO, grandchildren, Taylor (Dakota), Kayton, Ali (Trevor "Scoot"), and Jameson, great-granddaughter, Summer, several nieces, nephews, other family and friends and many children and grandchildren she adopted over the years. There are too many to name, but they know who they are.

Mass of Commemoration will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. A Rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, November 5th at Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Rupp Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Margaret Ann Nash, 70, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 after a lengthy battle with cancer at her brother and sister-in-law's home in St. Joseph, who were her angels that cared for her during her 2 months of hospice care. She was born January 31, 1951 in St. Joseph, daughter of Elanore (Derr) and James Nash. She graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School, class of 1969 and attended Missouri Western State College for 2 years. Margaret began her career at Sister's Hospital then transitioned to Heartland Health which eventually became Mosaic Life Care. She retired as a transcriptionist after 44 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially their driveway parties, crocheting and decorating the house and yard for holiday's. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include, daughter, Andrea (David) Miller of St. Joseph, brothers, Patrick (Alana) Nash and Michael (Lorrie) Nash of St. Joseph, sister, Mary (James) Evans of Long Lane, MO, grandchildren, Taylor (Dakota), Kayton, Ali (Trevor "Scoot"), and Jameson, great-granddaughter, Summer, several nieces, nephews, other family and friends and many children and grandchildren she adopted over the years. There are too many to name, but they know who they are. Mass of Commemoration will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. A Rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, November 5th at Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Rupp Funeral Home. William O. Gilchrist, 78, of St. Joseph, passed away, October 27, 2021.&nbsp; William was born May 30, 1943 in Iowa to William C. and Helen (Patterson) Gilchrist.

He graduated from Central High School and Arizona State University.

He co-owned with his parents the St. Joseph Beauty University, and later worked in security for St. Joseph Frontier Casino.

William attended Ashland United Methodist Church.&nbsp; He founded Glass Express Corvette Club, and was heavily involved and coached Little League Baseball.

Preceding him in death were his parents and first wife Marilyn Sue Gilchrist.

William has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.&nbsp; There will be a Celebration of Life Services at a later date.

Raymond Henry Schober, born March 15,1927 in Baker Kansas, outside of Hiawatha, and, passed on October 14, 2021 of natural causes. Ray was raised by Zelma and Ray Schober and recently suffered the loss of his brother, James R Schober. He is survived by his Nephew James H Schober, and Niece Catherine L Conner, and her two sons, Elias Frazer and Derek Frazer.

The genetic family would also like to recognize the 'local family' Ray had in Heber Springs, from neighbors to caretakers at medical facilities, and the staff at The&nbsp;Smokehouse who embraced him over the years.&nbsp; A specific hug goes out to each of his good friends and caretakers Christie and Sheila.&nbsp;

Ray moved to Heber Springs when he retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 44 years as a machinist building the trains that keep America moving. Ray was an avid collector of antique&nbsp;radios which he restored in his down time as well as collections of other memorabilia from old ads to lunchboxes.&nbsp;

He will be buried&nbsp;with his family in Powhattan&nbsp;Cemetery&nbsp;in Kansas at 3:00 in the afternoon of Oct&nbsp;30th.&nbsp;

Mark Allen Tollefson, 60, of rural Hiawatha, Kansas, passed away October 24, 2021, at the Mosaic Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri. 

He was born August 4, 1961, in Horton, KS, to Robert and Beverly (Stephens) Tollefson. Mark married Valerie Enyart May 24, 1981, at the Horton First Baptist Church. During their 40 year union, they were blessed with three children.

Mark graduated from Hiawatha High School and enlisted in the military in 1979.&nbsp; He began a full-time career with the Army National Guard in 1987. This career included assignments in Hiawatha, Ashland, NE, and Fairbury, NE. In 1996, Mark returned to Hiawatha where he continued a part-time military assignment and again farmed with his family.

Mark served in a variety of leadership roles both in the church and community.&nbsp; At the time of his death, Mark was an active member of the Eternal Hope Worship Center in Hiawatha.&nbsp; Mark was also a dedicated member of the American Legion Post #7 and acting chairman of the Mission Township Board.

Survivors include: wife, Valerie, of the home; son Seth Tollefson (Robyn) of Hiawatha, KS; daughters,&nbsp; Leah Stotts (Jacob) of Derby, KS, and Annie Ceniza (Karl) of Topeka, KS; grandchildren,&nbsp; Leah, Lane, Owen, Parker, Michael, Samuel, Matthew, Kaylin and Era June; parents, Robert and Beverly Tollefson of rural Hiawatha; brother, Richard Tollefson (Lori) of rural Hiawatha; and, nephews Chanz and Geoffrey.&nbsp;

Merle Dean Arnold, a long-time resident of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his sleep&nbsp;on October 25th in Lenexa, KS.

Merle was born on June 18,1936 in a block house on the family farm in Watson Township, Effingham County, Illinois, to parents William Clinton and Cora Belle (Bates) Arnold.&nbsp;

Merle was educated at Loy Community School, a one-room schoolhouse about a mile from the family farm and walked or rode his horse to school each day. He later attended Watson Grade School and Effingham High School. He worked on the farm while growing up and at 16 years old he worked construction and at the Norge Plant in Effingham.

In 1954, Merle enlisted in the United States Army and served 3 years, two and a half of which were in Germany.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was honorably discharged in 1957 as a Specialist 4th&nbsp;Class, and was awarded the National Defense, Army Occupation and the Good Conduct Medals.

On October 20, 1957, Merle married the love of his life, Lenore (Eddie) Mitchell, in Hernando, Mississippi and were married for 61 years until her death in 2020.&nbsp;&nbsp;Merle and Eddie were blessed with 3 children during their marriage.

In 1958, Merle and Eddie moved to the Chicago area and Merle worked at St. Charles Custom Built Kitchens. In 1961 Merle started his career with Globe Union, which later became Johnson Controls. In 1973 Merle transferred to St. Joseph, MO to open a new plant and retired after 37 years.

Merle loved spending time with family, and especially enjoyed big holiday meals.&nbsp;&nbsp;He had many hobbies including remodeling, woodworking, gardening, fishing and reading. He enjoyed meeting friends each week for coffee when he was able. After retirement he went on several road trips with Eddie to their favorite destinations – Branson, San Diego and Las Vegas.

In 1967, Merle was initiated into the Masonic Lodge, Unity Lodge 48, A.F. and A.M. in St. Charles, IL.&nbsp;&nbsp;He transferred his membership to the Brotherhood Lodge in St. Joseph, MO in 1973. He joined Green Valley Baptist Church in St. Joseph and was baptized there in 1978.&nbsp;&nbsp;He also belonged to the Pony Express post of the American Legion, the Moose Lodge of St. Joseph, the Order of the Eastern Star Pearl Chapter 529 and the VFW.&nbsp;&nbsp;Merle enjoyed volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America, the Green Valley Baptist Church Royal Ambassadors and the Republican Party.

Merle was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; brothers, Billy Arnold, Forrest “Bonnie” Arnold, Arlin Arnold and an infant brother; sisters, Lois Matteson and Eda Belle Althoff; and his beloved dog, Stephen.

He leaves behind his children, Mary Roy of Kansas City, MO, Donna Mahony (Tim) of Lenexa, KS, and George Arnold (Melina) of Downers Grove, IL; grandchildren, Mitchell Rice (Jannah) and Jacqueline Foster (Brandon), great-grandchildren Carter Scott, Rebecca Rice, Caylin Scott, Elizabeth Rice, Caius Foster, Marcus Foster and Brutus Foster; sister-in-law Dorothy Arnold and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will gather with friends on&nbsp;Tuesday, November 2nd&nbsp;beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Heaton Bowman, Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph, MO, followed by a farewell service at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Dr. David Mason of Green Valley Baptist Church. He was born March 21, 1961 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Dorothy and Paul Larkin. He was a painter and Artist, and he was of the Catholic Faith. 

David was preceded in death by his father, Paul Larkin, and brother, Martin Larkin. 

Survivors include: &nbsp;mother, Dorothy Larkin, Saint Joseph, MO, long time companion, Joann Penland, brother, Stanley (Jody) Larkin, sisters, Sandra (Mark) Shelton, DeAnn (Richard) Johnson, Linda (David) Long, Nancy (Val) Harris, Janice (Don) Buol, Carol (Tony) Stephenson, and Judy Larkin, an uncle Earl Sale, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley L. Cooper, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021.

On December 26, 1931 she was born to Thomas and Leola (Gates) Boley in Liberty, Missouri.

Shirley was a member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church and the Piecemakers Quilt Guild. She volunteered at Pivotal Point.

She was a tireless caregiver to her family and known for her exceptional organizational skills.

Shirley enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, Scrabble and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Glen Knutter; second husband, Calvin C. Cooper; grandson-in-law, James Evans.

Survivors include daughters, Glenda Hamilton (Chuck) and Sharon Knutter of St. Joseph, Missouri; step-daughter, Kathi Camp (Clyde) of Dallas, Texas; step-son, Timothy Cooper (Laurie) of Campbell, Texas; sister, Beverly Meyer of Garden Grove, California; grandchildren, Laura Lucas (Robie) of West Chester, Ohio, Josh Hamilton (Kristin) and Alex Hamilton (Kirah) all of Kansas City, Missouri, Kathryne Evans of Farmers Branch, Texas, Meghan Hill (Ronny) of Frisco, Texas; great-grandchildren, Carson, Alexandra, Isaac, Lucy, Ivan, Tyler, McKenzee; niece, Rebecca Rosenburg (Denis) and their daughter, Beth Ann.

She was born August 28, 1928 in St. Joseph to Henry and Gertrude (Bibbins) Franklin.

Marion was a secretary for Community Housing Ministry in St. Joseph. Marion enjoyed spending time with her family and church family, traveling, game nights with her neighborhood ladies group, and crafting.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Reed, who passed in 1999; son, Billie Jackson in 1996; and daughter, Lois Jean Chambers in 1987.

She preceded him in death on January 8, 1997.

Cat worked for BMS Logistics for several years.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, garage sales, collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, decorating for Christmas, but most of all spending time with her friends and fur-babies.

Emilie M. Lucas, 82, of St. Joseph, MO passed away peacefully at her home.

She was born in Fillmore, MO March 7, 1939 to Ellis and Jessie Taylor. Emilie married James A. Lucas April 5, 1959.

She worked as a Flight Coordinator at Fort Leavenworth and retired in 2001, and later worked at American Family Insurance in Word Processing and as a housekeeper.

Emilie enjoyed spending time with her family, crafting, needlepointing, reading, and was a gifted cook and loved spoiling everyone with her wonderful pies, cakes, homemade bread and peanut butter balls. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends &amp; neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Virgil “Buster” Taylor and Betty Fuller.

She is survived by brother Donald R. Taylor, sons Rick (Debbie) Lucas, Randy (Sharman) Lucas, Ronnie (Mardi) Lucas, grandchildren Tricia, Emilie, Josh, Abby, Nick, Stacie, Stephen, Christi, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Justin Tyler “Catch-Up” McNeiley, 37, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021.

He was born December 14, 1983 in St. Joseph to Marshall and Linda (Rose) McNeiley. He was a 2002 graduate of Savannah High School. Justin proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard, where he was deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was also a full, active member of The Outlaws MC.

Justin was a maintenance engineer for the Federal Aviation Administration facility in Olathe, Kansas, for many years.

He enjoyed horses and many outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, and was an avid shooter. Most of all, he loved spending time with his nieces and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents. Survivors include his father, Marshall (Denise); his mother, Linda; sister, Amanda (Kieth) Gardner; nephew, Mitchell (Shelby) Gardner; nieces, Delaney and Peyton Gardner; good friend, Daniel Richey and his family; and his beloved dog, Beau.

Dallas W. Pohl, 77, of Wathena, Kansas passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021.&nbsp;

Dallas was born on October 23, 1943 in Wathena, Kansas to Oscar and Lydia (Schultz) Pohl.&nbsp;&nbsp;He is a lifelong resident of Wathena and farmed. &nbsp;

Dallas graduated Wathena High School in 1961. He was of the Christian Faith.&nbsp;

He married Evelyn King on February 15, 1964 at the Burr Oak Baptist Church, Wathena, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;She survives of the home.&nbsp;&nbsp;Dallas was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stanley Pohl.&nbsp;

Additional survivors include his son, Dennis Pohl (Cheryl) of Wathena&nbsp;

He was of the Christian Faith.&nbsp;He married Evelyn King on February 15, 1964 at the Burr Oak Baptist Church, Wathena, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;She survives of the home.&nbsp;&nbsp;Dallas was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stanley Pohl.&nbsp;Additional survivors include his son, Dennis Pohl (Cheryl) of Wathena&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Granddaughter, Belle Pohl of St. Joseph, Missouri&nbsp;Numerous In-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.&nbsp;Dallas’ wishes were to have a private family funeral.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was buried at the Bellemont Cemetery in Wathena&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Memorials: Wathena EMS or the Doniphan County Ambulance Dist #1 c/o the Harman Rohde Funeral Home P.O.
