Jesse was married to Karen Merrill on July 12, 1985, in Weston, MO. Karen preceded him in death on April 28, 2014. His parents, four sisters; Mary Anne, Waunita, Gloria and Diana Reiss, a nephew, Adam Reiss, niece, Jean Anne Mitchell, and three grandchildren; Lainey Fultz, Nolan Fultz, and Logan Watowa also preceded him in death. He was born July 25, 1969 in St.Joseph, MO, son of Linda &amp; the late Edward White Sr. He attended Central High School. 

Ed was preceded in death by his father, sons, Ryan and Edward White III, and daughter, Precious.

Bridget Mary Pritchett, 58, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at her home in St. Joseph. 

She was born January 25, 1963 in St. Joseph, daughter of Barbara and Wesley Babcock. She graduated from Benton High School, class of 1981 and attended Missouri Western State College and Platt College. She married Dale Pritchett on November 17, 1984. Bridget worked for Buchanan County, most recently as the Chief Deputy Collector. She enjoyed fishing, spending time with her family and grandkids and time at the lake. 

Bridget was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jay Babcock. 

Survivors include, her husband, Dale Pritchett of the home, sons, Michael (Brooke) Pritchett and Marcus (Caitlin) Pritchett of St. Joseph, sisters, Anne (Terry) Schurman of Olathe, KS, and Sarah (Jack) Conaway of St. Joseph, brothers, Mark (Gayle) Babcock of St. Joseph and Charlie (Delaina) Babcock of Lincoln, MO and her two grandchildren, Maverick and Addisyn Pritchett. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home, Pastor Mike Wolf officiating. He was born March 23, 1976, in Mountain Home, Idaho to Leonard and Janice (Feemster) Edrington.

Leon attended The Resurrection Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri.

He graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School in 1994 and later attended KU.

He enjoyed cooking, hunting, singing, listening to all genres of music, dogs and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; nephew, Gerrit Brinkman; maternal and paternal grandparents; and four uncles.

Survivors include his mother; sisters, Michelle Brinkman (Marty), Laura Lake; nephews, Blade Lake, Ryker Brinkman; niece, Lauradee Brinkman; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and extended family.

Mary Lou (Voltz) Hartnett, age 87, of St. Joseph, passed away on Monday, November 8th.&nbsp; She was the second child born to John Anthony Voltz and Johanna Loretta Curtin on September 18, 1934.

Mary Lou was raised on Parker St. and attended St. Mary’s Grade School.&nbsp; She was a 1952 high school graduate of Sacred Heart Convent.&nbsp; She earned her nursing degree in 1957 from the St. Joseph School of Nursing.&nbsp;

She was united in marriage to Leo C. Hartnett on January 18, 1958.&nbsp;&nbsp; They were the parents of three children, Cathy, Karen (Rick) and Kelly.&nbsp;

Mary Lou worked as head nurse at Headrick Medical Center in Chillicothe for many years.&nbsp; A dedicated nurse, she was known as an excellent IV starter and remains ‘Mother Hartnett’ to many of the nursing staff she trained.

Mary Lou was a faithful Roman Catholic.&nbsp; She was a member of St. Mary’s and Our Lady of Guadalupe Parishes in St. Joe and St. Columban’s Church in Chillicothe.&nbsp; She lived out her faith by praying the rosary and attending daily mass.&nbsp; She also enjoyed volunteering at church and at Bishop Hogan Memorial School in Chillicothe.&nbsp; She volunteered and cooked for many funeral dinners in both parishes.&nbsp; She was a member of St. Ann’s Alter Society.

If a successful life is measured by the number of friends, then hers was truly a success.&nbsp; We are grateful for those friendships as they touched our lives as well.

Mary Lou is survived by her loving children, son-in-law Richard Kuhle, granddaughter Madison Kuhle, both of Lawrence, KS, sister Patty Harvey, St. Joseph, Mo, brothers John Voltz (Linda) of Ozark, MO and Jim Voltz (Peggy) of St. Joseph, Mo.&nbsp; Nieces Jodie (Greg) Manahan of Platte City and Christina Lund of St. Joseph.&nbsp; Nephews Michael Voltz (Amy) of St. Joseph and David Voltz (Amy) of Samobor, Croatia, great nieces Emma (Garrett) Dyer, Mia Lund and Harper Voltz.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her sister Dorothy Wertin, brother-in-law Delbert Harvey and her nephew Brian Voltz.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday November&nbsp; 13th at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Inurnment at Mount Olivet Cemetery in St. Joseph will follow the mass.&nbsp; There will be a meal following for family and friends at the church.&nbsp;

Visitation will be at Heaton Bowman &amp;&nbsp; Sidenfaden Chapel&nbsp; on Friday from 2:00 - 4:00 PM followed by a Parish Rosary at 4:00 PM.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was proceeded in death by his father and mother, Valerie Allen.

Fred’s greatest loves were his children, nieces and nephews.&nbsp; Everyone else came in a distant second.&nbsp; He was one of the two adult children in the house that could be found engaged in an outrageous Nerf war or “fighting” with the children.

His infectious smile and fun loving character made it easy to enjoy time spent with family and friends.&nbsp; He was a kind, caring soul who was fiercely loyal to those he loved.&nbsp; He had the refreshing ability to say exactly what he thought and his family appreciated that quality.

With the deepest sorrow, we announce the disease of addiction&nbsp; stole Walker Bradley Johnston's life on November 8, 2021.

Walker loved to play his X-Box, he loved to banter with family and friends and enjoyed driving around feeling the freedom of no destination.

Walker never wanted to be defined by his addiction and mistakes.&nbsp; He was a kind hearted, feisty, intelligent, and outspoken young man.

Walker could light up any room with his smile, laughter, and humor to all people, while he silently and privately suffered deep inside the darkness.

Walker will continue to stay with us through twenty one years of memories.&nbsp; When a raspberry cheesecake candle burn, please remember that smell like home to him.&nbsp; When you root for the Chiefs, remember he thinks they suck.&nbsp; When you see a homeless animal remember he would try to give them a home.&nbsp; Remember his big beautiful blue eyes staring at you intensely when you spoke to him.

John “Milt” Berger, 84, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 8, 2021.

He was born February 24, 1937, in St. Joseph, Missouri and adopted by Ernie and Irene (Moore) Berger.

Milt married Sharon Kay Lewis November 16, 1962. She survives of the home.

He was a member of McCarthy Baptist Church. Milt worked for 26 years on the kill floor for Dugdale Packing Company and 18 years for the St. Joseph School District Maintenance Department.

Milt was an avid fisherman and bowler being inducted into the St. Joseph Men’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2003.

He was preceded in death by his son, Milton Wayne; parents; brothers, Marvin Reid, Jr. and Bud Van Arb.

Additional survivors include children, Vicky Seek (Jim), Scott Berger (Richard), Deanna Ezzell (Jason); grandchildren, Dawn Yates, Shawn Springer, Jared and Caleb Ezzell; 4 great-grandchildren.

Etta Sue Kennen, 75, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021.

On July 7, 1946 she was born to Leonard and Ethel (Palmer) Kennen in Kansas City, Missouri.

Etta was a life-long devout Catholic.

She was a happy, smiling soul that made friends everywhere she went. Even as her health failed, caregivers always recognized her genuinely sweet, kind ways.

Etta enjoyed spending time with family, gardening and cooking. She and her sister were especially close and known as “two peas in a pod.” She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Sherry Odom and William “Bill” Kennen; great-nephew, Michael Owen.

Survivors include two nephews; four nieces; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and extended family.

Mariam Lou Misner, 91, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021 at her home.

Mariam was born August 6, 1930 to William J. and Bess Eisenhour Misner in St. Joseph and grew up in rural Andrew County.&nbsp; She attended Deakin rural elementary school and graduated from Savannah High School.&nbsp; She attended St. Joseph Junior College two years and graduated from William Jewel College of Liberty in 1951.&nbsp; She attended the school of Medical Technology at former Missouri Methodist Hospital and became a Registered Clinical lab technologist.&nbsp; She received her Master of Religious Education from the Carver School of Missions and Social Work in Louisville, Kentucky.

Mariam was a member of First Baptist Church of Savannah when in 1956 she was appointed by the Baptist International Mission Board, SBC as a medical missionary to the country of Indonesia where she served for 37 years.&nbsp; She worked with the medical team and served as director of the Lab-X ray services in both the Kediri Baptist Hospital in Java for thirty-one years and the Imanuel Hospital in Lampung, Sumatra for six years.&nbsp; She was also able to serve in the village churches in the area, helping them to grow and mature.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William J. Misner and Bess (Isenhour) Misner and a brother John D. Misner.&nbsp; 

She is survived by several cousins and many friends and caregiver Kristy Humes.

Harry Otto "Bud" Spillman, Jr., 83, of St. Joseph, passed away November 2, 2021.&nbsp; He was born on September 18th, 1938 in St. Joseph to Harry and Darline (Elder) Spillman.&nbsp; He married Trilby Noll of Wichita, KS on July 3, 1968 and they had 2 children together.&nbsp; They later divorced but remained friends especially after the passing of daughter, Tressa in 1995.&nbsp; Bud graduated from Central High School in 1956 while working for the News-Press.&nbsp; He served in both the Army and the Navy after high school and shared many fond stories, especially of his time in the Philippines.&nbsp; Bud worked in the trucking industry for over 25 years in Wichita, St. Joseph and Omaha and in his leisure loved to fish, hunt and read.&nbsp; Some of his fondest memories were times spent with his beloved Moila Sand Crabs and yearly trips to the Final Four basketball games.&nbsp; He cherished annual reunions with his CHS class of 1956 alumni.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carole Hopkins and youngest daughter, Tressa.&nbsp; 

He is survived by his oldest daughter, Erika (Matt) Conrad of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren, MacKinzie, Madisun (Nick) Hanlan, Max and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp; There will be a graveside service at Memorial Park on December 21st at 10:30 am, with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Hi-Ho from 1-4 PM.

Betty Lieffring passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021. She was born on September 23, 1941, to Joseph and Lois (Preston) Giles in Mt. Moriah, MO. She was born the 3rd child of 9, she graduated in 1959, then attended business school. She worked for AJ August Menswear before taking a break, then went to work for Wal-Mart in October 1991 as a pharmacy tech until September 2017.

She married Chuck Lieffring on April 11, 1964 and enjoyed 57 years of marriage. They have 4 children, Shelley (John) Wolf, Springdale, AR, Kenny Lieffring, Faucett, MO, Sandy Lieffring, Victor, ID, and Kim (Steve) Lieffring, Belton, MO. They also have 6 grandchildren, Megan Wolf, Dublin, CA, Molly Wolf, Golden, CO, Hunter, Stetson &amp; Mallie Lieffring, Faucett, MO, and Sequoia Shire, Lake Forest, CA.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leslie and George; and sister, Joan.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck; all her children and grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Carol (Larry) Brickey, Mound City, MO, June (Bruce) Buntin, Clarksdale, MO, and Sue (Steve) Miller, Columbia, MO; brothers, Marvin Giles, Mt. Betty loved nothing more than being with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Robert Preston Grace, Sr., 70, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021.

On October 24, 1951, he was born to Gene and Lucille (Sampson) Grace in Maryville, Missouri.

Bob married Linda Gail Payne on November 12, 1994. She survives of the home.

He was a hard worker. Bob was an engineer at Prime Tanning, a locksmith, into real estate and completed tax returns for HR Block. Bob enjoyed tinkering with anything from complex locks to computers and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gregory Grace; two grandsons and brother-in-law, Ron Spence.

Survivors include his wife; children, Jerry (Charlotte), Bobby (Megan), and Bridget Grace, Meredith and Robbie (Angie) Wells, and Tammy Roller (Johnny Kelly); 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Spence &amp; Geneiva (Glen) Leggett; nieces, nephews and extended family.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Norma Louise Barnes, 100, passed away November 5, 2021, in St. Joseph, Missouri.

She was born September 22, 1921, in Chillicothe, Missouri, the daughter of Paul and Virginia Dowell. She graduated from both Chillicothe High School and the Chillicothe Business College. She lived in Maryville, Missouri before moving to St. Joseph in 1960.

Norma worked at the St. Joseph Public Library and later at Boehringer-Ingelheim from which she retired in 1985. She spent the next 15 winters in Arizona, attending as many big band dances as she could fit in. She liked scrapbooking her and her children’s lives. Norma read all sorts of books and kept abreast on current affairs.

She enjoyed traveling and visited Hawaii, Alaska, nearly all the Continental United States, Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, several European countries as well as Japan and Hong Kong.

During these many years, Norma made many lifelong friends and kept in touch with them, even as some spread across the country and the world. Survivors include one son, Cris Barnes, Kansas City; one daughter, Ginger Garrett (Jay), Easton; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Norma L. Barnes  1921 - 2021

Shawn Hunter Ashford, 26, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021.

He was born September 11, 1995, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Shawn Phillip Ashford and Cherry Ann Suba.

Shawn graduated from Lafayette High School, Class of 2014. He played football and baseball all four years of high school.

He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, and was an Avid Denver Broncos Fan. Most of all Shawn loved spending time with his daughter, Palmer Sue, and his family.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dixie Snyder; and aunt, Michelle Ferguson.

Karen Lynne (Erickson) Donahoo, 77, Rea, Missouri; passed away Friday, November 5, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Karen was born on April 28, 1944 in St. Joseph, Missouri to the late, Laurence and Rowena (Groenke) Erickson.&nbsp; She was a 1962 graduate of Lafayette High School.

Mrs. Donahoo worked as a service worker and retired from North Andrew High School.

Karen was a member of Rosendale Christian Church.&nbsp; She enjoyed going to auctions, reading, getting her hair done and above all spending time with her family and friends.&nbsp; She always looked forward to celebrating her favorite holiday, the 4th of July.

Karen married Shelby "Buster" Donahoo on February 20, 1971. He preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents and husband, Karen was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Huntley Wilson, infant great-granddaughter and numerous brother and sister-in-laws.

Karen is survived by her children, Kelly Hileman (Terry), Conway, MO; Cliff Petersen, Columbia, MO; Charlie Donahoo (Brandy), Rea, MO and John "Pooh" Donahoo (Lisa), Rosendale, MO; sister, Jennice Stout, Atchison, KS; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Marian “Faye” (Schottel) Gurwell was born May 24, 1932 to Pryor (Sr.) and Bertha (Ladage) Schottel in Cosby, MO. She passed away November 6, 2021 of pancreatic cancer.

She graduated from Savannah High School in 1950. She rode in horse shows and loved to roller skate. She and 7 other girls put on a halftime show at the Savannah Tournament during high school.

She married Ray Gurwell, the love of her life. They would have celebrated 70 years on December 27, 2021.

She was a member of Maple Grove Community of Christ Church, where she had been a Sunday School teacher.

Faye worked in the small appliances department of St. Joe Light &amp; Power while Ray was in the Army. When Ray got home, she was a full partner on the farm, where she raised a big garden, chickens, bottle calves, and helped sow wheat and other chores. She later worked at Colony House and retired after 20 years at Metro North Mall.

She was Grandma GG to her great-granddaughters. She was the place to go if they needed a babysitter or they needed a break from chores. You could get snacks, drinks, back rubs, hugs, play games, and laugh with Grandma GG.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Fern Dixon, brother, Pryor L. Schottel, Jr.; three sons, Terry (January 1983), Jim (February 1975) and Tim (March 1983).

Survivors include husband, Ray Gurwell; daughter, Catherine &amp; Steven Johnson; grandsons, Brian &amp; Heather Johnson, and Kyle &amp; Kristin Johnson; and great-granddaughters, Emma, Kealy, Kimber, and Bella, all of Clarksdale.

Carey B. Utterback, 74, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021.

He was born April 14, 1947 in St. Joseph to Edgar and Elaine (Seewoester) Utterback. A graduate of Central High School, Carey proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Carey married Cheryl L. Gastineau on July 23, 1965. She survives of the home.

He was an auto-body specialist for Collision Repair for many years. Carey was stubborn as an ox, ornery, and the funniest, most kind-hearted man you’d ever meet. He was definitely an exceptional man who will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Curtiss; and brothers, Vaughn, David, and Phillip Utterback.

Survivors include his wife; children, Michelle Brant and Luann Hayes; grandchildren, Kattie Tyes (Je’Neal), and Courtney Ross; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Devin, Nevaeh and Whitney; brother, Mark Utterback; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; and his beloved cat, Fred.

Betty Elaine Kuehner 84, of St Joseph, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. 

She was born February 10, 1937 in St. Joseph, daughter of Anna and Roy Guy. She graduated from Lafayette High School, class of 1956. She was married to William "Bill" Kuehner. Betty had worked at K-Mart, Montgomery Wards, and the Buchanan Co Assessors Office. She enjoyed bowling, shooting darts, playing cards, and she loved fishing. She also loved Elvis and the KC Chiefs. Betty won the first Kuehner Family Fantasy Football League. She was a member of Savannah Ave. Baptist Church. 

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Kuehner, Sr., her parents, brothers, Roy Guy Jr. and Glenn Guy, sisters, Emma Smith, Margaret Groenke, Ruth Smith, and Anna Morris, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Judy Kuehner, and sister-in-law, Betty Lou Poling. 

Survivors include: children, Sandy (Rob) Duncan of St Joseph, Betty (David) Peters of St. Joseph, William "Bill" (Rikkie) Kuehner of Bremerton, WA, Victor (Jennifer) Kuehner of St. Joseph, Patrick Kuehner, Sr. of St. Joseph, and Michael Kuehner of St Joseph, 16 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandson, cousin, Louise Davis of Elwood, KS, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ronald M. Kuschell, 93, of Elwood, Kansas passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Mosaic Hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Ron was born on January 7, 1928, to Walter Russell and Helen (Purvis) Kuschell.&nbsp; He lived most all his life in Elwood. &nbsp;He ran several Texaco stations in St. Joseph. Ron worked for Wire Rope in St. Joseph, Missouri and retired in 1993. Ron was a lover of horses and the American Royal. He was particularly fond of his stallion “Vic.” Ron loved to travel with his wife Barb. He loved his family, the Kansas City Chiefs and KU basketball.

Ron married Barbara Vandermark.&nbsp; She preceded him in death in 2003.&nbsp; He was also preceded by his parents, daughter, Ronda Kuschell and 2 sisters.

Ernest was born on May 11, 1933 in Wathena, Kansas to Frank and Doris M. (Engeman) Webber.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ernest F. Webber, 88, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the Abby Woods Healthcare.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ernest was born on May 11, 1933 in Wathena, Kansas to Frank and Doris M. (Engeman) Webber.&nbsp;&nbsp;He graduated Elwood High School in 1951 and the served in the U.S. Navy. Upon returning home, he went to work for Continental Can, then Meade Products in the printing department, retiring in 1988.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ernest married Donalee Osburn on February 21, 1959 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Robert Meeks.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ernest is survived by his sister, Judy Meeks of St. Joseph Missouri.&nbsp;Ernest wishes were to be cremated with no services.&nbsp;&nbsp;Inurnment at the Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, Missouri at a later date.&nbsp;&nbsp;
