Bille Pauline Pompa, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021.

On February 21, 1941 she was born to William and MyNetta (Ellison) Walden in St. Joseph, Missouri.

She was a generous, caring person that loved spending time surrounded by family and friends more than anything. Billie enjoyed cooking, the casino, Golden Corral, Gordon Ramsay and the musician, Prince. She had a contagious laugh and will be remembered by many.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Julie Hanan; sister, Jo Ann Dwinell; and the father of her children, Daniel J. Pompa, Sr.

Survivors include children, Daniel Joseph “Charlie” Pompa, Jr., Angel M. Pompa, Adena Pauline Pompa; grandchildren, LeCee Bricker (Clayton), David Johnson (Kara), Curtisea Weston-Pompa (Demetre Tolbert), Jourdan Pompa, Sephra Pompa (Tyler Young), Rah-Vin Blanchard (Cody Pettijohn), Kobie Jo Pompa (Derrick W. John Phillip Bailey 62, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 in Saint Joseph, MO. 

He was born December 16, 1958 in Atchison, KS, son of the late Patricia and John W. Bailey. He married Barbara Reed on June 12, 1978. He retired from Bradken as an Industrial Mechanic after 40+ years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, mushroom hunting, sports card collecting and shows, and riding his Harley. He's a lover of Chevelle's and Camero's. He was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church. 

John was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Donna L. Bailey, and Virginia Rose Bailey. 

Survivors include, wife, Barbara Bailey of the home, sons, John Christopher (Anna) Bailey, St. Joseph, and Jessie S. (Jessica) Bailey, Rushville, MO, brothers, Rickey (Carol) Bailey, Bernard W. Richard L. Zebelean, 74, of St. Joseph, passed away at his home Wednesday August 11, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Helen Zebelean, parents-in-law Cliff and Addie Miller and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years&nbsp; Cynthia (Miller) Zebelean, daughters Sara (Brian) Gross and Rebecca (Josh) Castanedo, grandchildren Baileigh, Kalissa, Ryland, Jacob, Kingston, Jett and Emersyn,

sister Susan Wagner, sister-in-law Brenda (Ed) Rasco, and brothers-in-law Michael (Rosie) Miller and James (Julie) Miller.

Richard was a graduate of Benton High School Class of "65".&nbsp; In 1972 he married the love of his life, Cynthia Miller.&nbsp; He obtained a master degree in chemistry and Education from Northwest Missouri University.&nbsp; He spent 40 years teaching chemistry and biology at East Buchanan C-1 High School and was also the Academic Bowl coach.&nbsp; Richard served six years in the Army National Guard in Hiawatha, KS.&nbsp; In his retirement he enjoyed working in his gardens and spoiling his family.&nbsp; Richard was a long time member of St. Patrick Parish and served on various committees and boards.

Visitation will be held at St. Patrick Church with a rosary at 5:30 PM and visitation to follow until 8:00 PM on Friday August 13, 2021.&nbsp; Mass of Resurrection &nbsp;will be Saturday August 14th at St. Patrick Church at 10:30 AM.

Jerry Jones, 70, of Wathena, Kansas passed away Monday, August 9, 2021 at the Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Jerry was born on August 6, 1951 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Ralph Franklin and Alberta Mae (Rainwater) Jones.

He was a self-employed Technician. Jerry’s passion as a Mustang enthusiast and his hobbies were going to car shows and interacting with all other car owners.

Jerry married Sue Gaskell on August 23, 1970 at the Methodist Church in Horton, Kansas. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Norma Atkins.

Joanne Marsack passed away August 10th, 2021. On March 16th&nbsp;1940, she was born to Ethel and Joseph Borkowski.

&nbsp;On June 11&nbsp;th&nbsp;1960, she married the love of her life Richard D. Marsack. Joanne worked and retired from the in the bakery business.

&nbsp;She leaves behind 3 daughters, Mary Kalamon- Marsack, Beverly Griffin, Angela Hensley. Three sisters, Mary Lou Sumpter, Bonnie King, Donna Schmitt. Six grandchildren, Chanel Kalamon-Marsack, Amber Starke, Sable Kalamon-Marsack, Brandon Griffin, Ashton Hensley, Bobbie Brooke Griffin, and seven great grandchildren.

She always went above and beyond to help others and she loved her sweets and family.

Joanne has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.&nbsp; There will be no services at this time.

Irene H. Karkoski, 103, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 9, 2021.

On March 25, 1918, she was born in St. Joseph, Missouri to Frank and Susan (Balko) Soptick.

Irene married Walter F. Karkoski in 1939. He preceded her in death in May 1976.

She was a member of the Midwest Artist Association and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. There she was a member of the Altar Society and a steadfast part of the prayer chain for the sick. Throughout her entire life she was a devout Catholic, devoting her time and talents to others in their time of need.

As a young widow, Irene loved to travel. She was an incredibly prolific reader. Many enjoyed the art she created incorporating her deep faith and background. She was a talented seamstress sewing for many friends, including repairing the robes and clothing of the brothers at Christian Brothers. Irene enjoyed sharing joy by coordinating gatherings and celebrations for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; 4 sisters and 3 brothers.

Survivors include her beloved son, Roger P. Kirk of Memphis, Tennessee; nieces, Irene Giannetta of St. Joseph, Missouri and Carol Slaybaugh-Carraway of Mesa, AZ; nephew, Don Hager, St. Joseph, Missouri; numerous extended family members, and friends from many walks of life including her friends from church, local libraries, neighbors, fellow artists and local business personnel.

F. Dale Sprague passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021 at his home in St. Joseph, Missouri at the age of 92.

Dale was born in Kansas City, Missouri October 9, 1928 and grew up in Hemple, Missouri. He went to a one room schoolhouse in Hemple, Missouri, and graduated from Gower, Missouri. At the age of 13 he was employed by the WPA to place stone on the Willow Mats to hold the banks on the Missouri River while still in school.

In 1946 after graduating from Gower, he and his brother rode a Harley Davidson motorcycle to Seattle, WA. He joined the Merchant Marines and made two trips on a Liberty Ship to Japan. Then he came back to Goodland, KA and work the wheat harvest.

Dale went back to Hemple and met his future wife Roma Younger from Easton and they were married on June 24, 1950 and moved to St. Joseph, Missouri.

In 1950 he and his brother set up a sawmill operation. He then formed in 1952 Sprague Construction, Inc., building new homes and development ground in the St. Joseph area. Dale had concrete form for pouring basements and later formed Midwest Cabinets selling building supplies. The age of 89 he built and sold his last home.

Dale has served as President of the Home Builders Association and two years as President of St. Joseph Board of Realtors. He served on the committee that formed the Multi-List Service.

He is a past member of the Blue Lodge, York Rite and Moila Temple. Dale was a member of the Wrecking Crew.

Each fall, for many years, he met with a group of men and would go deer hunting in Wyoming. He liked to fish, worked on antique tractors, and made many trips to Las Vegas, playing in the Keno Tournaments. Dale was preceded in death by his son, David Sprague; grandson, Todd Fulton; parents, Ocle A. and Ethel Marie (Gregory) Sprague; four brothers, Gale Sprague (Ursula), both deceased, Bobby Sprague (Mary Ann) Sprague, both deceased, Jackie (Sara) Sprague, both deceased, Larry Sprague (Lydia), both deceased.

Surviving, his wife, Roma of he home; son, Billy W. Sprague, Tampa, Florida; daughter, Cheryl L. Paul Wayne Gibson, 60, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at his residence. 

He was born September 14, 1960 in Zelienople, PA, son of Janet and Paul Gibson. He graduated from Seneca Valley High School in Pennsylvania, class of 1978. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Grove City College in 1982. Wayne was a pioneer in the telecommunications industry. He worked and partnered with several businesses in the telecom field helping them transition into successful corporations. Wayne loved everything Black and Gold, including the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. He also enjoyed cooking and baking and watching pretty much all sports. Recently, he was an active member of Rotary Club of South St. Joseph and volunteered with the Performing Arts Association. In the past he was an Eagle Scout with Triple Gold Palm, as well as a Past President of Sigma Phi Omicron at Grove City. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Wilbur Gibson. 

Survivors include, mother, Janet Gibson of Buffalo, NY, children, Paul Wayne Gibson, II of Country Club, MO, Kara (Joseph) Beacom of Denver, CO, Caroline Gibson of Dallas, TX, brother, Kevin (Linda) Gibson of Hamburg, NY, sister, Kim (Dan) Litzen of College Station, TX, granddaughter, Bentlie Gibson, the Thevenot &amp; Team Perka Families, and many many friends.

Paul "Wayne" Wayne Gibson  1960 - 2021

Mary Katherine (Britt) Baker, 95, of St. Joseph, passed away, August 9, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary Britt was born September 17, 1925 to James Eric and Clara Belle Britt.&nbsp;

She was a graduate of Lafayette High School and Missouri Methodist School of Nursing. She was a Cadet Corps Nurse from 1943 - 1946.

Mary married Ray Jensen &nbsp;Baker on April 5, 1946 and worked as a Public Health Nurse for the St. Joseph Organization of Public Health Nursing.&nbsp; She worked at the University of Missouri Hospital and &nbsp;Ellis -Fischel Hospital both in Columbia, MO, Cameron Hospital, and Missouri Methodist Hospital.&nbsp; For 16 years she was employed by the St. Joseph Department of Health and was in charge of the Tuberculosis Clinic at Patee Hall.&nbsp; The clinic did all the tuberculosis testing for the public and parochial schools, businesses and hospitals.&nbsp; For eight years she was a nursing consultant for the St. Joseph State Hospital for patients placed in nursing boarding and nursing homes.

She was chairman for Clinton County March of Dimes and accompanied Dr. Kimes to clinics to administer the polio vaccine when it became available.&nbsp; She provided transportation for the Central Cross Country Team.

After retiring from nursing, she and her husband opened the first antique mall in Northwest Missouri.&nbsp; After 5 years they sold Savannah Square Mini Stores but continued buying and selling antiques at other malls.

She was a Girl Scout Leader for 16 years, Cub Scout Den mother for four years, member of Joseph Robidoux Chapter of Questers No. 1029, and served as President for two years.&nbsp; She was a member of the St. Joseph Historical Society, Huffman Memorial UMC, Miriam Fellowship, Guy Harden Sunday School Class, Moila Ole Tymers Ladies, Friends of the Creche, American Legion Auxiliary, 55 Plus Club, Past President of Sherwood School Preschool and PTA, 305th Bomb Group Associate member.&nbsp; After years of collecting nativities with her husband, she started a nativity ministry after her husband died.&nbsp; She donated thousands of nativities to local food pantries and non-profit organizations after his death.

She and Ray J. &nbsp;had four children; Stephen Baker, Marilyn Griggs (Eddie), Randy Baker (Judy) and Linda Novak (Michael).

She has nine surviving grandchildren; Stacie Davis, Roxanne Armstrong (Bart), Karin Griggs, Matthew Novak (Danielle), Karla Hausman (Andrew), Jennifer Williams (Darrel), Andrew Baker, Heidi Karwoski (Chris), and Joshua Baker (Kim).

She has 22 surviving great-grandchildren; Devin Luke, Amanda Johnson (Cody), Brittney Davis, Samantha Novak, Courtney Hunt, Kylie Davis, Corbin Williams, Rebekah Novak, Hunter Armstrong, Amber Davis, Trevor Goethe, Jensen Williams, Ryann Armstrong, Grady Hausman, Kaylin Karwoski, Nathan Goethe, Evan Karwoski, Barrett Hausman, Derrick Baker, Eleanor Baker, Gabrielle Baker, and Drew Ann Baker.

She has four great-great-grandchildren; Chloe Johnson, Axl Johnson, Clayton Woods, and Lillyan Hunt.

Mary is also survived by brother Byron G. Didlo (Gracie), and sister's-in-law Marjorie Stout and Mariza Britt.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Ray J. Baker, granddaughter Cristin Hunt, great-granddaughters Ashley and Taylor Davis, her parents James and Josephine Britt, Clara and Byron M. Didlo, &nbsp;brothers James and Edgar Britt, brother-in-law Glen Stout; &nbsp;and sister-in-law Dolores Cecil (Terry),

Mary Baker  1925 - 2021

Beverly Jean Nelson was born August 15, 1929 to Linden G. Whitfield and Viola (Mayes) Whitfield at Tipton, Missouri. She departed this world for everlasting life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 8, 2021, just one week shy of her 92nd&nbsp;birthday.&nbsp; She graduated from Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia, Missouri in 1947. Beverly was married to Ray Nelson on August 15, 1947. Together they had four sons, Michael Lyndon, Danny Ray, Ronald Kyle and Ricky Lynn.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Bev was no stranger to hard work, holding a variety of jobs during her life. Following high school, she worked for her mother as a seamstress at Lamy’s in Sedalia, cutting and sewing Levi’s jeans. Her boys always had a new pair pants for back to school and Christmas every year as they grew up. She was instrumental in supporting her husband’s professional career as a school administrator with stops in Lincoln, Herculaneum, Cameron and Dearborn, Missouri and Atchison, Kansas.

As her family grew, Beverly took on her life’s work of raising her four rowdy boys (to put it mildly). Always looking for the next adventure, she went back to work in 1967, first at Whitaker Cable in St, Joseph. From there, she became the switch board operator at Montgomery Ward in the East Hills Mall for several years. She then entered the healthcare field with stints as a ward secretary at Spelman Memorial Hospital in Smithville and a long tenure at the then Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph. Restless following her retirement from Heartland, she entered the work force once again as the gift shop manager at Cracker Barrel in St. Joe for many years until her “second” retirement.&nbsp;

Family always came first for Beverly. She devoted her life to her husband and sons. The best part of her life was being a mother, not only to her immediate family, but also to their friends and her many co-workers. Her home was open to all. &nbsp;Food was always abundant and prepared with love. Meals were shared with whoever happened to be there at mealtime. She loved to talk to people and she could talk to anyone. But she was an even better listener. She always had a kind word and wise advice.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Harold and Dale, her husband Ray and son Ronald. She is survived by her favorite aunt Jewel, sons Michael, Danny (Debbie), and Ricky, grandchildren Dustin, Hal, Dane and Drew, and great-grandchildren Atticus, and Abbey Rose. In her later life, Bev made her home at The Village in Cameron, Missouri where she adopted a new family of many special friends. Loved by all who knew her, our mother will be greatly missed. Although our world is a lesser place without her, we are comforted knowing that she is reunited with the loved ones who went before her and that she will rest in the arms of our Lord forever.

Bryce Philip Nigus, 32, of Hiawatha, KS passed away unexpectedly on Friday ,August 6th, 2021 at Amberwell in Hiawatha, KS. &nbsp;

Bryce was born and raised in Hiawatha, KS to parents: Ricky Nigus and Lori (Dachenhausen) Nigus and was the youngest of 3 children. His siblings would often joke that Bryce was the favorite because he could nearly always convince his parents to go along with his ideas.

He graduated from Hiawatha High School in 2007, Highland Community College in 2009, and furthered his education at Washburn University in Topeka, KS and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business in 2011.&nbsp; It was during his time at Highland Community College that he began dating his wife, Alayna (Tanking) Nigus. They both attended Washburn University and were married in Horton, KS on July 7, 2012. They resided in Topeka, KS where Bryce worked for Frito Lay, Inc before the birth of their first son, in 2013. With the opportunity to return to his hometown and raise a family in community he grew up in, Bryce and Alayna returned to Hiawatha and purchased his childhood home.&nbsp; He worked in Hiawatha at AgJunction, Inc. and later Koch &amp; Co, Inc.

Bryce was the father of 4 children that he shared with his wife: Brody (8), Emersyn “Emmy” (6), Annistyn “Annie” (4), and Bennett (3).&nbsp; He was a dedicated and involved father who wanted to see his children grow and succeed. He could nearly always be found coaching one of his children’s athletic teams or assisting in their numerous activities.

Apart from Bryce’s involvement with his family, he found joy in hobbies including: golf, BBQ, watching KU basketball, and most recently, refining his palate with bourbon selections.

Bryce was a hardworking family man with big plans for the future with his wife and children.

Bryce is survived by his wife, Alayna (Tanking) Nigus; 4 children: Brody, Emersyn, Annistyn &amp; Bennett; mother, Lori Nigus; Siblings: Brooke (Phil) Reynolds of Carbondale, KS and Brett (Paige) Nigus; Step-Mother, Laurice Nigus; Step-Brother, Nick (Kathy) Johansen; Step-Sisters, Rachel (Colby) Knudson of Horton, KS and Kelsey Johansen; and Grandmother, Mary Dachenhausen, of Sun City, AZ. He is also survived by multiple aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. until 4:30 Wednesday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha.&nbsp; The family will meet with friends from 6 until 8 Wednesday evening at the Church.

Harold M. Hughes, Jr., 89, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021.

He was born October 19, 1931 in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Harold Mertland Hughes, Sr., and Mable Hughes.

Harold married Gloria Tatum on June 21, 2007. She survives of the home. He proudly served in the United States Army. He was employed at ISS Maintenance in Kansas City, Missouri for 17 years.

Harold was a unique individual who walked his own path. He had his private businesses and was fun to be around. He was known to help everybody, and his best friend was his great-grandson, Edward Tatum. He was a good person and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Billie Jean Petty; daughter, Adrian Hughes; sons, Harold M. and Craig Hughes; and numerous other extended family members.

Survivors include wife, Gloria; children, Harold M. Hughes, III, of Denver, Colorado, Karen Hughes Bailey of Overland Park, Kansas, Brent Eugene Hughes (Berlyn), of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Corrine Cochrane (Mark) of St. Paul, Minnesota, Gina Cage, Kansas City, Kansas, Curtis Hughes (Fulece), Kansas City, Kansas, and Vincent, Diane, Debbie, and Melody Hughes, all of Minnesota; stepchildren, Barbara Tatum and Anthony Tatum, both of Kansas City, Missouri, and Alfred Tatum of Columbus, Georgia; brother, Mertland Hughes (Barbara); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; step-great-granddaughter, Seaka White; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.

Frank A. Leone, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed in peace on Friday, August 6, 2021 at the age of 65.

Frank was born on September 20, 1955 to Dominic and Lena Marie (Bono) Leone in St. Louis, Missouri.

On December 21, 1985, Frank married his loving wife, Peggy (Flesher) Leone and was blessed with three wonderful children. Frank was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his family. In 1974, Frank graduated from Ritenour High School, in St. Louis, Missouri and later received a degree in Automotive Technology from Missouri Western State University.

Frank was part owner of Car City Chrysler for 36 years. He later became a highly regarded and successful Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Stein &amp; Summers.

Frank was very involved in his community as a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Charity Zeredatha Lodge – No. 189, A.F.&amp; A.M., 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Moila Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters Court No. 98, Kiwanis Club, Benton Club (23 years), Mosaic System Board Member (12 years), Y Fry Club #55, the Land Bank Commission, St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce, and Friday Morning Breakfast Club. He also served as President of the National Auto Dealers Association and was a School Board Member for St. Joseph Cathedral School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Lena (Bono) Leone.

Frank is survived by his wife of 35 years; his children, Dominique Leone of St. Joseph, Frank Leone, Jr. (Erin) of St. Louis, Missouri, and Vincent Leone of St. Louis, Missouri; his grandchildren, Annalynn, Katherine and Addison Bigelow; his brother, Vincent James Leone of Orlando, Florida; his sister, Elizabeth Grassmuck of Atlanta, Georgia; his mother-in-law, Judith Flesher; his sisters-in-law, Susan, Pat and Janet Flesher; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary Virginia (Myers) Gardner, 101, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away August 7, 2021.

On April 28, 1920 she was born in Queen City, Missouri to Ralph and Helen (Huckins) Myers. She married Merle W. Gardner on March 28, 1945 following his return from European duty in WW II.

After moving from the farming community of Lancaster, Missouri in 1960, Merle and Virginia made St. Joseph their home. They were long-time members of the First Christian Church. In 2005, they moved to Novi, Michigan where they resided at Fox Run Senior Living. Virginia later moved to an assisted living facility in Bloomfield Hills, MI. Virginia had a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO. She earlier received an Associate’s degree from Stephens College in Columbia, MO. Virginia was an elementary school teacher for nearly 20 years at Edison and Noyes Schools.

Virginia was a founding member of PEO Chapter JF of in St. Joseph. Her PEO roots date back two generations to the memberships of her maternal grandmother and mother. She was a 70 years member of PEO. Virginia was also a member of the Runcie Club in St. Joseph and Kirk In The Hills Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield Hills, MI. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and reading.

After 63 years of marriage, in September 2008 Virginia’s husband Merle preceded her in death as did her sister, Francis Casteel of Lancaster, MO, in March 2016.

Survivors include children, daughter Ginger Gardner (St. Joseph) and son Lee (Judy) Gardner (Birmingham, MI); grandchildren, Shay (Matt) Hunter, Mikki Gardner; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Maggie Hunter, Leland Mood; nephew, Max Casteel; and a number of great nephews and nieces spanning three generations.

Mark Noland, 60, Agency, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021.

He was born December 18, 1960 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Francis and Dixie (Auxier) Noland. From 1978 to 1991, he worked construction with his father in Las Vegas, Nevada, San Diego, California, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and St. Joseph, Missouri.

Mark married Evelyn Marie Komer on May 9, 1981, following a relentless pursuit of her that began in junior high. They shared 40 years of marriage. She survives of the home.

He was a member of Carpenters Local Union No. 110. He retired from Lawhon Construction in 2015.

Mark was very comedic, sarcastic, and witty. He told great “dad” jokes and loved making people laugh.

He enjoyed going on annual motorcycle trips with his brothers, especially out West. He enjoyed a good cold beer or a glass of whiskey. He also was an avid gun enthusiast, liked to tinker in the garage, and had recently taken up painting.

Above all, Mark was a devoted family man who was loved by all. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dixie Noland. She was born January 3, 1932 in Oto, Iowa to Lewie and Mabel (Schultz) Schoening.

Myrtle married Caleb Burl Wells May 15, 1954. He preceded her in death October 6, 2013.

She was a rural mail carrier for the Rural Carriers Association for 21 years.

Myrtle was a member of King Hill Christian Church, King Hill Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, Rebecca Lodge #851.

She enjoyed birdwatching, gardening, sewing, cross stitching and crossword puzzles.

Myrtle was also preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki John, parents; and brother, Louis Schoening.

Marta Louise Dawson 45, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021 at her home. 

She was born August 11, 1975 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Linda and Franklyn Dawson. She attended Central High School and worked at several are hotels in the housekeeping department. She enjoyed Bingo, Lottery, Kansas City Chiefs, and making people laugh, but most especially she enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She was a former member of the Central Assembly of God Church. 

Marta was preceded in death by father, Franklyn Dawson. 

Survivors include, mother, Linda M Dawson of St. Joseph, sons, Dalton (Nakita) Eaton, Shawnee Mission, KS, , MO, Dylan Dawson, and Drake Dawson of St. Joseph, and daughter, Meagan Eaton, St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren, Dalton Jr, and Hazelyn Eaton, Heaven &amp; Skylar Dawson, sister, Mary Silvey, and brother, Frankie Dawson both of St. Joseph, MO.

Charles Allen Roberts 80, of Agency, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 6, 2021 in Saint Joseph. 

He was born February 28, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri. He married Glenna Roberts on June 10, 1960, and they shared 61 years together. He graduated from Faucett High School (1959). He worked as a self-employed Business Owner. He enjoyed hunting and classic cars. 

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Donald Lee Roberts, and mother, Lyla Shiner-Messner. 

He is survived by wife, Glenna Jean Roberts of Agency, MO, son, Scott (Jayne) Roberts of Faucett, MO, daughter, Terri (Mike) Riddle of Faucett, MO, daughter, Trudi (Doug) Riddle of Faucett, MO, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren &amp; 8th on the way, and brother, Rick (Wilma) Roberts of Agency, MO.

He married Glenna Roberts on June 10, 1960, and they shared 61 years together. He graduated from Faucett High School (1959). He worked as a self-employed Business Owner. He enjoyed hunting and classic cars. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Donald Lee Roberts, and mother, Lyla Shiner-Messner. He is survived by wife, Glenna Jean Roberts of Agency, MO, son, Scott (Jayne) Roberts of Faucett, MO, daughter, Terri (Mike) Riddle of Faucett, MO, daughter, Trudi (Doug) Riddle of Faucett, MO, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren &amp; 8th on the way, and brother, Rick (Wilma) Roberts of Agency, MO. There will be a private family memorial service. He will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Freudenthal Hospice. Donald Eugene Weir….Don Weir, 72, of Hiawatha, Kansas, passed away August 6, 2021, surrounded by his family at St. Francis-KU Campus in Topeka.&nbsp; He was born on December 18, 1948, in St. Joseph, Missouri, one of three children to Lester and Marjorie (Hartman) Weir and has lived in this area since his retirement.

Raised in Savannah, Missouri, he graduated in 1967 from Savannah High School and upon graduation, he enlisted into the US Navy, retired at the rank of radioman Chief Petty Officer, in 1989, after 20 years of service, with various medals.&nbsp; One of his proudest accomplishment’s during his time in the Navy was his time spent in Antarctica.&nbsp; After his retirement from the Navy, he accepted a position as Iowa House Authority Director in White Cloud, Kansas.&nbsp; In 1995, he was hired by the United State Postal Service (USPS) as a mail handler and retired from service in 2009.&nbsp; Don then worked for the White Cloud Casino from 2012 until finally retiring from the work force in 2018.&nbsp; His favorite jobs were being a grandpa and working for Bill and Betty French at the Hiawatha Greenhouse.

It was when he retired from the Navy he met Gwen Ivey-Green and married April 11, 2005, in Hiawatha.&nbsp; She survives.

Also surviving are his son Fredrick Green of White Cloud, daughter Rosella Madere (Chauncey) of Hiawatha, adopted daughter Kennaddi Weir of Hiawatha, two grandchildren:&nbsp; Robin and Jenna Madere of Hiawatha.&nbsp; Also surviving are his brother Lester Jr. (Eli) Weir (Julie) of Murray, Iowa, nephew Chris Hartman of Lawrence, KS, as well as Stan Hartman of Cathedral City, CA, Aunt Jayne Simmons of Rulo, NE, and several cousins.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Mary Sue Hartman.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Tuesday, where the family will meet that evening from 6 until 8.

Services will be held at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, with Tony French officiating.&nbsp; Interment with military honors will be held at Hiawatha Cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;DRESS IS CASUAL

Logan was born on July 12, 1932 to Thomas H. and Maple R. (Mathews) Beggs as the oldest of 5 children.

(Mathews) Beggs as the oldest of 5 children.Logan married the love of his life Margie Williams on January 18, 1953 and they had 4 children and 68 years together.Logan was very proud to have served his country as a Marine In the Korean conflict, he was always sporting one of his USMC hats and every vehicle had a USMC bumper sticker.After retiring from Cameron Mutual Insurance Company, he took great Joy In traveling with Margie, having visited all 50 states and had even moved to South Texas for a brief time.Logan was a big man with a big heart, he loved being with family and friends.Much like Dr. Doolittle, he spoke with every animal he encountered, especially dogs. You've heard of man's best friend, well he took that to heart and every dog became his best bud.He was preceded in death by his Margie, their son Dirk, his parents, and brother Tom Beggs. Also by his brother in laws, Gene Hook, Jerry Delaney, &amp; Robert Williams, and lifelong &nbsp;friend, Jack Ezzell,Logan is survived by son Terry (Nicole) Beggs, St. Joseph, daughters Carol (Mike) Wolf, Maysville, Mo, and Delaina (Charles) Babcock, Lincoln Mo. His siblings, Harold (Pat) Beggs, Mary Hook, Naomi Delaney, all of St. Joseph. and sisters In law, Lynn Beggs, of St. Joseph and Mary (Keith) Carroll of Burlington, NC. 5 Grandchildren Micah (Isaac) HIiton, Washougal WA, Jonathon (Tiffany) Wolf, Maysville, Morgan (Chris) Thomas, Milwaukee, WI, Carlie (Trevor) Kahler, Kansas City, Mo, and Coleman (Shelby) Babcock, St. Joseph. 8 Great Grandchildren - Miles, Gibson "Artie", Agnes, &amp; Sylvie HIiton. Wyatt, Westen, &amp; Willow Wolf, and Weslie Kahler.
