Donna Jo Sansone  1937 - 2021

John L. King, 76, of St. Joseph, MO passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021.&nbsp; 

John is preceded in death by his parents, step-father Byron Bledsoe, three sisters and two brothers.

On March 15, 1945 John was born in St. Joseph, MO to John Thomas King and Ollie Delores (Clark) King.

John left Benton High School in St. Joseph, MO before graduation to enlist in the United States Air Force in which he served during the Vietnam War in communications with several decorated units from August 7, 1962 until his Honorable Discharge on January 5, 1967.

In April of 1973 John became a Real Estate Agent/Broker with Brannon Realty and in November of 1975 opened King Realtors which later became Century 21 King Realtors.&nbsp; He became corporate broker/co-owner of ReMax Realtors in November of 1981 until August of 1983.&nbsp; John was awarded Realtor Ameritus status from the St. Joseph Regional Association of Realtors on March 6, 2014 after 40 years of service.

In September of 1983 John opened King Appraisal Group, LLC and was a full time Real Estate Appraiser from then until his passing.&nbsp; His client list has included virtually every lending institution at one time or another, however, as a Veteran he was most proud to be a Senior VA Panel Appraiser.&nbsp; King Appraisal Group was a true family business with Joyce, Brian, Leah and Jeff all having worked there for extensive amounts of time.

Our Dad would be disappointed if we didn't mention the importance of our Office Manager Mary Brooks and Appraiser Dustin Ham as they have both became family to all of us over this time and we will never be able to fully express our gratitude to them.

Family was most important to John and his work ethic was unparalleled.&nbsp; He will be greatly missed by his family and close friends for his integrity, honesty, love of family and his kindhearted nature.

On May 31, 1968 John married the Love of his Life, Joyce Kay Noble.&nbsp; They were deeply devoted to each other and blessed to travel a wonderful journey together for 53 years.

John is survived by his wife of the home; his children, Brian King (Beth Ann) of Earth, TX, Leah Sams (Richard) of Shawnee, KS and Jeffrey King of St. Joseph, MO; eight grandchildren, Jacob King (Sarah), Cooper King, Austin King (Shelby), Madison King (Christian), Mitchell King, Johnny Watts, Zack Egnew (Star) and Zoe Egnew; four great grandchildren, Vivian Davis, Kaydence King, Penelope Davis and Caiden Tomlinson.

John L. King  1945 - 2021

 Billy Robinson, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021 at a local hospital surrounded by his loving family.  

 He was born July 19, 1932 to John and Erma L. (Stanton) Robinson.

 Billy married Hellen M. McBrayer in 1954 and she preceded him in death in 1996.  He remarried Marilyn Tiller on February 14, 1999. She survives of the home. 

 Billy owned and operated Robinson Trash Service for 25 years. He also had owned several small restaurants in St. Joseph. He was a member of the Riverbend Promanaders Square Dance Club and St. Joe Squares.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; Hellen M. McBrayer; son, Thomas Robinson; one sister; and one brother.

 Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Louise (Talbot) Tiller Robinson of St. Joseph; daughters, Jacquelyn Frost, Kansas City, MO, Beth (Kelly) Oswalt, Gladstone, MO, Karen (Ronnie) Williams, St. Joseph, and Judy (Steve) Dempsey, Frankston, TX; son, Tim (Mindy) Robinson, St. Joseph; stepchildren, Daniel (Elizabeth) Tiller, St. Joseph, Alan Tiller, Gladstone, MO, Anne Tiller (John Shoaf), Independence, MO, Thomas (Shirley) Tiller, Amazonia, MO, and Lorri Tiller-Reynolds, Paragould, AR; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy Robinson  1932 - 2021

Geraldine M. Lawhon, 95, St. Joseph, Missouri, died Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the home. Born in St. Joseph on June 1, 1926, she was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph. She was valedictorian of the 1944 graduating class of the Convent of the Sacred Heart and graduated from Duchesne College in Omaha, Nebraska with a B.A. degree in English. Following graduation from college, she returned to St. Joseph and joined her parents and aunt in the operation of the Jerre Anne Cafeteria and Bakery, the family business founded in 1930. She succeeded her parents as the owner and president of Jerre Anne for several decades, working alongside her youngest sister, Jean Curry, until selling the business and retiring in 1995. On April 18, 1949, she married Carl A. Lawhon in St. Joseph. Mrs. Lawhon was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, and her mother and father, Marie Frances Carolus and Gerald Carolus. Mrs. Lawhon’s first love was music. She was volunteer director and accompanist for the Convent Glee Club and the Christian Brothers High School Choraliers from 1958 to 1970, when Christian Brothers High School closed and Bishop LeBlond High School became coeducational. She developed a lifelong relationship and close friendship with the members of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, the official name of the religious order that administered Christian Brothers High School and numerous other schools and universities around the world. In recognition of her service to Christian Brothers, Mrs. Lawhon was inducted as a lay affiliate of the Christian Brothers (A.F.S.C.) in 1995, an honor bestowed by the Brother Superior General of the Institute in Rome. Following her retirement from the Jerre Anne, Mrs. Lawhon continued her service with the Christian Brothers by becoming the United States representative and fundraiser for Bethlehem University in the Holy Land, a papal university administered by the Christian Brothers. She was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and was involved in the musical life of the parish for 73 years, including regular organ accompaniment for Sunday and weekday Mass, weddings and funerals. She was past president of the St. Francis Altar Society and chair of the Stewardship Committee. Mrs. Lawhon was co-founder and president of the Ladies of Charity of St. Joseph and past president of Catholic Charities of St. Joseph, Alumnae of the Sacred Heart, Children of Mary Sodality, and the Phillipine Duchesne Study Club. She and her husband Carl were members of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. In addition, Mrs. Lawhon served several terms as the president of Interfaith Community Services (InterServ) and was a former president, board member, or board chair of the Performing Arts Association, St. Joseph Symphony, Allied Arts, the Arts Fund, Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art, Twin Spires Museum, Ladies Union Benevolent Association (Noyes Home), Bishop LeBlond School Board, Heartland Medical Center (now Mosaic Medical Center), St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce, Buchanan County Tourism Board, and UMB Bank of St. Joseph. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Jean Miljavac, St. Joseph, and Charla A. Lawhon, New York City; a son, Gregory C. Lawhon (Jina), Kansas City; five grandchildren, Adam Miljavac (Amy), Remi Gramlich (Brian), Mackenzie Beach (Noah), Carl E. Lawhon and Patrick J. Lawhon; ten great grandchildren; three sisters, Anne Benitz, Charlotte Hartigan (William) and Jean Curry (R. Edward); and numerous nieces and nephews. Chris D. Clark, 57, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021.

He was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on September 14, 1964, to Eugene and Wilma (Dowdy) Clark.

Chris was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Boy Scout Troop #31 and the Moila Shriners.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and NASCAR.

Chris was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include son, Carter Clark; mother, Wilma “Willie” Clark; siblings, Vicki Rowland (Randy), Patrick Clark (Suzanne), Renee Clark (Jay), Sean Clark (Darcy), Andy Clark (Ronna), Jamie Guck (David); numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Melvin "Bud" Harold Higbe, 87, of St Joseph, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. 

He was born June 4, 1934 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Jessie and Clarence Higbe. Bud married Frances Kinnaird on January 27, 1962 in St. Joseph, Missouri . He served in the US Air Force and worked at Armour &amp; Co. later in the upholstery business and also as a service station cashier. Bud was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed being outdoors, especially spending time in his garden, going camping, fishing, dancing, bowling and playing cards with his family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by wife, Frances Higbe in 2010, his parents, sister, Violet Liechti and brother, Ray Higbe. 

Survivors include, daughters, Leah (Sheila) Higbe of Whalan, MN, and Dana D. Stumpff of St. Joseph, sister, Fay Yonning of St. Joseph, grandchildren, Denise Stumpff, Ruth Higbe-Harrah, Greysen Higbe-Harrah, Sara McCallson and Shannon McCallson and great-grandson, Josiah Mauleon McCallson, sister-in-laws, Sally Higbe, Raona Wade, Eileen (Larry) Meinsen, Kathy (Richard) Frederick and numerous nieces and nephews.

Melvin "Bud" Harold Higbe  1934 - 2021

Rose Lee King passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care, in St. Joseph, MO.&nbsp; Rose born on December 1, 1951, to Willis and Nadine (McFarland) King.&nbsp; Born in St. Joseph, Missouri, Rose was a lifelong resident.

Rose was a loving daughter.&nbsp; She had a heart of gold, and if she was your friend, you had a friend for life.&nbsp; After graduation from Lafayette High School, Rose graduated from MWSU with a degree in Elementary Education.&nbsp; She eventually earned her Master's in Education from NWMSU.&nbsp; Rose was a teacher for the SJSD for 29 years, teaching at Hyde and Lindbergh Schools.

Rose had a passion for genealogy.&nbsp; She took several trips in the pursuit of her family's story.&nbsp; She was quite successful, and each discovery was a thrill.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents.&nbsp; She is survived by numerous cousins and many friends.

Rose Lee King passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care, in St. Joseph, MO.&nbsp; Rose born on December 1, 1951, to Willis and Nadine (McFarland) King.&nbsp; Born in St. Joseph, Missouri, Rose was a lifelong resident.Rose was a loving daughter.&nbsp; She had a heart of gold, and if she was your friend, you had a friend for life.&nbsp; After graduation from Lafayette High School, Rose graduated from MWSU with a degree in Elementary Education.&nbsp; She eventually earned her Master's in Education from NWMSU.&nbsp; Rose was a teacher for the SJSD for 29 years, teaching at Hyde and Lindbergh Schools.Rose had a passion for genealogy.&nbsp; She took several trips in the pursuit of her family's story.&nbsp; She was quite successful, and each discovery was a thrill.Rose was preceded in death by her parents.&nbsp; She is survived by numerous cousins and many friends.Services, under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel, will be held 3:00 PM Monday, December 13th at the United Methodist Church in Savannah, Missouri.&nbsp; &nbsp;There will be a visitation from 2-3PM, prior to the funeral.<figure>

Leonard Charles Thompson, 70, of Denton, KS went to his heavenly home on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021. In his own words Leonard didn’t “farm to live, he lived to farm”. He grew up farming with his father and then joined his (future) Father-in-law, Bill, at Myers Farms in 1969. He became a Hoegemeyer Seed Dealer nearly 50 years ago and enjoyed it thoroughly. He loved being outdoors, especially on an open cab tractor or anything International Red. Leonard was a devout Christian man and studier of The Word. He was always seeking Truth, and was an avid listener of Bott Radio. He was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Standing Stones Bible Class, and had served in Gideon’s International. Leonard and Sylvia shared a love of music. He played in several bands, the “American Revolution Band” in high school, Highland College Band and the Thompson family band with Sylvia and their four eldest children. Leonard had a love of classic cars and trucks, of which he had quite the collection. Most notable, the custom ordered 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle that was his and Sylvia’s first car. They often went on Sunday afternoon dates in the Chevelle, just to enjoy the drive. Leonard will forever remain in the heart of his wife Sylvia, children Angela (Scott) Bounds, Eric Thompson, Melissa (Jeremy) Blanton, Kevin (Katie) Thompson, Amanda (Mark) Crompton, Cortney (Michael) Stonebarger, Allison (Tyson) Rush; his beloved 14 grandchildren; brother Morris (Mary) Thompson and many other family and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Gerald Duane “Jerry” Gordon, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021.

He was born September 21, 1943, to Lloyd Oren and Ida Elizabeth Howe Gordon.

Soon after high school Jerry joined the U.S. Navy where he served on the Yorktown Aircraft Carrier. When he returned from the Navy, he worked construction and at several meat packaging plants. In the early 1970’s Jerry began working for Seitz, he was there 34 years as a supervisor before retiring in 2006.

He attended 3 Angels SDA Church. Jerry was a Christian, he loved God and his family very much. Jerry enjoyed sports and cars, playing lots of softball, fishing, bowling, and playing games with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 stillborn sisters; brothers, Lloyd Oren Gordon, Jr., Clinton James Gordon and his wife, Lila Reeves Gordon, and Robert Gordon; brother-in-law, William Arthur “Bill” Hendricks; father-in-law, Leonard Billy Schubert, Jr.; and grandson, Ean Meyer Gordon.

She was born December 15, 1923 in Forest City, Missouri to Gerald and Mary (Clift) Anno.

Elaine married A.C. McCool on March 17, 1946. They shared 65 years together before he preceded her in death on October 23, 2011.

She was a supervisor at St. Joseph Light &amp; Power for 43 years.

Elaine was a faithful member of First Christian Church, a member of Moila, P.E.O. Chapter JF, and an ambassador at Country Squire.

She was a fantastic storyteller and entertainer, reciting her stories and poems from memory. Her motto was, “Never be satisfied. Grow, plant your seeds and remember right from wrong.” Elaine also loved to travel, with Hawaii being her favorite destination.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister: Joann Jones; brothers, Dwaine Anno, Gerald Anno and Carl Anno.

Survivors include her brother, John Anno (Lola), of Rulo, NE; Fred Baldock (who was like a son), of Boston, MA; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Judy married James Robert Emmons February 27, 1965. He survives of the home.

She was a member of Gower Baptist Church.

Judy enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with her family and friends, shopping, fishing, traveling, and family dinner get togethers. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them play sports.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Doris Ann Guyer.

Delia T. “Dee” McNulty, 85 of Hiawatha, Kansas passed away Friday evening December 10, 2021 at the Amberwell Hiawatha, in Hiawatha Kansas.

Known as Dee by many of her friends, was born in San Antonia, Texas on July 20, 1936 to Manuel Davila and Modesta T. Raagel Davila.

She met and married Marshall T. Harmon in California where their children were born.

She relocated to Kansas, where she became a telephone operator and worked for The United Telephone Company among other jobs while she raised her children.

She married William McNulty on June 20. 1982 whom shared the love for cooking. They enjoyed cooking together, catering, gardening and taking little road trips.

She was no stranger to working two jobs at a time.&nbsp; Brown County Infirmary and Maple Heights in Hiawatha, Kansas is where she was employed for a while, but her interest was cooking. You could find her at the former Hiawatha Inn and then later own and operate the well known Maple Leaf Restaurant. &nbsp;After retiring from her business, she worked five more years at the Golden Eagle Casino as the cook before she retired from working.

Dee was a hard working Christian and loved her children, she made sure her kids had new clothes and shoes each school year with school clothes shopping was always was an exciting time.

Her and her husband Bill enjoyed their retirement together and one of the things they enjoyed was going to the Golden Eagle Casino to eat and play.

Survivors include her Daughters Belen Trevino of Texas, and Mary T. (Randy) Atlakson of Hiawatha, a son Phillip E. (Tina) Harmon of Topeka, Kansas, a grandson Ronald C. Harmon of Marionville, MO., who was like a son to her, 8 more grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.&nbsp; Also surviving is her sister Dora Escobedo of Redondo Beach, California and many friends.

Delia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, and her daughter Elizabeth “Curly” Ann Harmon.

A Celebration of Dee’s eternal life is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha.&nbsp; Blake Wyatt will officiate.&nbsp; Cremation will follow services with private inurnment at a later date at Claytonville Cemetery.

She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1951. Freida worked as a sewer for the former Horton Garment Factory, and then as the housekeeper for the St. Joseph’s and St. Benedicts Rectories for many years and later as a personal care attendant. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Church, was active with her children in girl scouts, boy scouts and 4-H. She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, cooking, baking, raising plants and flowers, bird watching and traveling. She was married to William E. Navinskey on Oct. 29, 1952. Mr. Navinskey preceded her in death on April 7, 2002.

Survivors include two sons, Leo (Regina) Navinskey, Atchison, KS, and Daniel Navinskey, Leavenworth, KS, four daughters Kathy Navinskey, Atchison, KS, Diane (Curt) Paste, St. Joseph, MO, Lisa Hill, and Angela Navinskey (Justin Coffelt), both of Atchison, KS., a brother Kenneth Hanf, Atchison, KS, a sister Shirley Livingston, Lancaster, KS, twelve grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband Bill, a son Steven Navinskey, a brother Albert Hanf, and a sister Estella Cauthen and a son-in law Jackie Hill, Sr. preceded her in death.&nbsp;&nbsp;

 James R. “Jimmy” Wilson, 57, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away, Wednesday December 8, 2021 from cancer due to exposure of a popular weedkiller.

 He was born May 29, 1964, in St. Joseph, Missouri to James and Shirley J. (Danner) Wilson.

 Jimmy married Christa Auten October 13, 2013. She survives of the home.

 He was a member of Abundant Life Church. Jimmy was in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years where he also played baseball and was the catcher for the U.S. Air Force baseball team. 

 He enjoyed camping, fishing and was an avid KC Chiefs Fan.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, James Wilson.

Vauncille Margaret “Pooch” Barrett, 90, with family by her side, passed from her earthly life to her heavenly life,&nbsp; December 9, 2021 at her Fairview home.

Pooch, as she was known by family and friends, was born at Oneida, KS, August 16, 1931, one of five children born to Rudy and Margaret Strube Brunner and had lived in the northeast Kansas area her entire life.&nbsp; She grew up at Oneida where she attended schools and graduated high school.&nbsp; While in high school because of her height, she enjoyed and excelled at basketball, known as "two point Pooch."

Just out of high school she married Joseph Alfred Barrett, February 12, 1950, at .&nbsp; They established their home on a farm near Oneida where they started their family Wanda, Lewis, and Vikki.&nbsp; A few years later, they moved to Powhattan where she worked a short time for the apple barn at Horton. It was there where the rest of the family was born Diane, Dennis, David, and Doug.&nbsp; Pooch starting working for the Brown County Infirmary near Hiawatha as a medication aide until it closed then worked for Oak Ridge Acres.&nbsp; Even though she was busy with work, her family always came first!

While the family was making their home at Powhattan, they attended Zion Lutheran Church.&nbsp; In 1982, they moved&nbsp; to Fairview, then transferred their membership to St. Paul Lutheran where she was also a member of the Dorcas Society of the church.&nbsp; Joe died December 8, 1999.&nbsp; Pooch was also preceded in death by her parents, her son David in 2005, and a sister Jean Pardee.

Survivors include daughters:&nbsp; Wanda Barrett of Topeka, Vikki (Lyle) Broxterman of Fairview, Diane (Greg) Davis of Hiawatha, Louis (Rose) Barrett of Mayetta, Dennis (Evalyn) Barrett of Oneida, Doug Barrett of Fairview, 15 grandchildren, many great-great grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.&nbsp; Also surviving are her sisters: Velma June Winger of August, KS, Patricia Nobis of Cincinnati, OH, and Janice Grubb of Fremont, NE.&nbsp; She also remained close with her brothers-in-law through the years.

A Celebration of Vauncille’s Eternal Life is planned for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Fairview.&nbsp; Pastors Michael Dunaway and Ian Kinney will officiate.&nbsp; Interment will follow at Isely Cemetery, Fairview.

Kathy Beth (Russell) Tracy went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 8, 2021 in St. Joseph, Missouri while surrounded by family. 

Kathy had been hospitalized and fought a complicated battle for over a month, when she succumbed to complications of COVID-19 and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Carl Russell and mother, Kay Russell.

Kathy was born to Carl and Kay on May 21, 1957 in Paola, Kansas and is survived by her step-mother Nola Mae Russell, husband Joe, two sisters, Carla Russell and Judy (Dane) Cross, brother- and sister-in-law Kevin and Theresa Tracy, two nieces, Shannon Kearney and Alyssa Matthews, and two nephews, Brad Starling and Ian Tracy.

Kathy lived a life glorified by God. She was called to be a strong woman of faith, a successful entrepreneur, author and a beloved daughter, sister, wife, and aunt. In 1985 she married her husband of over 36 years, Joe Tracy. Together they co-founded several successful small businesses to include a 26-year run of the St. Joseph AD-Venture. Kathy enjoyed NASCAR, quilting, spoiling all children she knew and advocating for Rheumatoid Arthritis treatments. She spent many hours researching her family ancestry, and also advocated for mental health while co-authoring with her sisters a memoir about her grandma, artist Elizabeth “Grandma” Layton. Above all, Kathy was a devout Christian and lived a purpose filled life.

Robert D. “Bobby” Grooms, 61, Country Club, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

On March 10, 1960 he was born to Pearl (Reynolds) and Robert D. Grooms, Sr. in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He married Vicki Lynn Clark on June 23, 1978. She survives of the home. Bobby was a long-time member of the Victory Tabernacle Church where he was a preacher and the master of ceremonies on Sunday mornings. Bobby also lead praise and worship and opened services at Present Truth Fellowship.

He enjoyed sports, particularly basketball and the KC Chiefs. His sons recall playing many games of basketball together and how Bobby could be stiff competition despite his lack of height. He enjoyed collecting coins and sports trading cards, going to garage sales and antiquing. Family recalls how Bobby would bring desserts home to share with Arlance, his long-time pastor and father-in-law. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and how he was a friend to everyone he met.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Jason (Sonya) and Bryan (Lacey) Grooms; grandchildren, Jazmyn, Trenten, Brayden, Talan, Jaelyn, Kolby, Kaden, Jeighda, Zaine, Jackson, Alana and Bryanna Grooms; great-grandchildren, Bentley, Braxten, and Everly; sisters, Barbara Harbord, Leona Odell, and Joanna Grooms; in-laws, Claudine and Arlance Clark; beloved dog, Diesel; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Robin R. Martin  1976 - 2021

Jerry Wayne McDonald, 74, of Cosby, Missouri, passed away at home surrounded by his family on December 4, 2021. 

He was born in Vallejo, California, on June 3, 1947 to Bill and Pearl McDonald. He spent his early years in Benicia, California, until age 12 when his family moved to Andrew County, Missouri. Jerry graduated from North Andrew High School and the University of Missouri-Columbia. While at MU he was a member of Eta Kappa Nu electrical engineering honor society. He received his commission as an officer in the US Navy through ROTC and served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal (1970 to 1972).

Jerry married Donna Merritt at Rosendale Christian Church on June 30, 1968, and for a time they lived on the east coast. In 1972 they returned to Missouri and have lived in the Cosby area for 44 years.

Jerry was an electrical engineer for Union Electric in St. Louis (1972 to 1977) and for St. Joseph Light and Power Company (1977 to 2000). He was the first standards engineer for Light and Power and developed their Standards Department. He served as an officer in the Northwest Chapter of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers and was a life member of IEEE. In 2001 Jerry co-founded Vertex Engineering &amp; Utility Services in St. Joseph from which he retired in 2013.

Through the years Jerry enjoyed boating, water skiing, and camping with his family at the Lake of the Ozarks. He was an avid gardener and he planted about 80 tomato plants each spring. He liked to share his bounty of vegetables and homemade tomato juice with friends. He enjoyed playing cards, especially pitch. He also enjoyed bowling and playing softball on the company teams. His favorite pastime was golf and he garnered many trophies in the company league. Jerry was a volunteer for Mathcounts competitions and in retirement he served as a volunteer with the Backpack Buddies food program.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents who lived and farmed in the Bolckow area. 

He is survived by Donna, his wife of 53 years; a son, Jeffrey McDonald and his wife Kelly of Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter, Erin Bouchard and her husband Will of Circle Pines, Minnesota; a sister, Judy Townsend and her husband Herb of Sedalia, Missouri; grandchildren Colin and Owen McDonald, and August, Julius, and Sylvia Bouchard; four nieces, a nephew, many extended family members and dear friends.

Jerry will be remembered for his lifetime of public service, his strong work ethic, and his irrepressible good humor. A loving husband, a proud dad and grandpa, he loved spending time with his kids and grandchildren. Jerry was loved dearly by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Jerry Wayne McDonald, 74, of Cosby, Missouri, passed away at home surrounded by his family on December 4, 2021. He was born in Vallejo, California, on June 3, 1947 to Bill and Pearl McDonald. He spent his early years in Benicia, California, until age 12 when his family moved to Andrew County, Missouri. Jerry graduated from North Andrew High School and the University of Missouri-Columbia. While at MU he was a member of Eta Kappa Nu electrical engineering honor society. He received his commission as an officer in the US Navy through ROTC and served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal (1970 to 1972).Jerry married Donna Merritt at Rosendale Christian Church on June 30, 1968, and for a time they lived on the east coast. In 1972 they returned to Missouri and have lived in the Cosby area for 44 years.Jerry was an electrical engineer for Union Electric in St. Louis (1972 to 1977) and for St. Joseph Light and Power Company (1977 to 2000). He was the first standards engineer for Light and Power and developed their Standards Department. He served as an officer in the Northwest Chapter of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers and was a life member of IEEE. In 2001 Jerry co-founded Vertex Engineering &amp; Utility Services in St. Joseph from which he retired in 2013.Through the years Jerry enjoyed boating, water skiing, and camping with his family at the Lake of the Ozarks. He was an avid gardener and he planted about 80 tomato plants each spring. He liked to share his bounty of vegetables and homemade tomato juice with friends. He enjoyed playing cards, especially pitch. He also enjoyed bowling and playing softball on the company teams. His favorite pastime was golf and he garnered many trophies in the company league. Jerry was a volunteer for Mathcounts competitions and in retirement he served as a volunteer with the Backpack Buddies food program.Jerry was preceded in death by his parents who lived and farmed in the Bolckow area. He is survived by Donna, his wife of 53 years; a son, Jeffrey McDonald and his wife Kelly of Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter, Erin Bouchard and her husband Will of Circle Pines, Minnesota; a sister, Judy Townsend and her husband Herb of Sedalia, Missouri; grandchildren Colin and Owen McDonald, and August, Julius, and Sylvia Bouchard; four nieces, a nephew, many extended family members and dear friends.Jerry will be remembered for his lifetime of public service, his strong work ethic, and his irrepressible good humor. A loving husband, a proud dad and grandpa, he loved spending time with his kids and grandchildren. Jerry was loved dearly by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.A celebration of Jerry’s life is planned for next spring. Dr. William Feuerbacher died peacefully at home on December 9, 2021 in Wathena, Kansas at the age of 85. 

Dr. Feuerbacher is survived by his wife, Ella Mae (Unger) Feuerbacher of 57 years and his four children, Carla (Chris Walter), Mike (Becky, and children Caleb, Amy, Laura), Sarah (children: Daniel, Brisa, Manuel), and Rebekah (children: Lane and Cassidy), and 3 great-grandchildren, his sisters Eleanor Thompson and Norma Feuerbacher and many nieces, nephews and loved ones. 

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Floyd and Edna Feuerbacher and his brother, Dr. John Feuerbacher.&nbsp;

William was born on February 1, 1936 in Elwood, Kansas to Floyd and Edna (Porter) Feuerbacher, and was raised near Oregon, MO. He joined the Marine Corps in 1956, and proudly served his country for 4 years, and continued his service later in life on the Selective Service System for 20 years. William married the love of his life, Ella Mae (Unger) on June 6, 1964. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College and continued his education at Cleveland Chiropractic, graduating in 1966. After moving to Troy, Kansas later that year with his wife, Dr. Feuerbacher set up his practice. Later the family moved to Wathena, Kansas where he continued to practice Chiropractic care, and sharing the love of Jesus Christ to many patients for 52 years.&nbsp;

William was active in his community volunteering at the West Valley Community Center of St. Joseph, MO for over 20 years, and serving in many organizations over the years including serving on the city council and as mayor of Wathena, Highland Community College Board of Trustees, President of the Cleveland Chiropractic Alumni Association, member of the Kansas and Missouri Chiropractic Associations, staff member of Heartland Regional Medical Center, Troy State Bank Board, President of the Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship, and many other professional organizations.&nbsp;

William Feuerbacher had a passion for flying and enjoyed spending his spare time building and fixing anything and everything. He shared his love of all animals with his children, attending church events, singing hymnals and listening to gospel music. He loved to talk to anyone and everyone that came along his way, about anything they wanted to talk about, and he especially enjoyed getting to share his love of Jesus.&nbsp;

A funeral is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Harman-Rohde Funeral Home, Wathena, Kansas, graveside service will follow at Bellemont Cemetery, Wathena, Kansas. Military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post #161. Family will receive friends 3-5 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Due to Covid-19 the family request the use of facial mask. Betty Lou (Johnston) Jenkins, 93, of Troy, Kansas passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at a nursing home in St. Joseph, Missouri.&nbsp;

Betty was born on February 13, 1928, in King City, Missouri to Allen and Estella Pearl (Gilland) Johnston. She worked as a seamstress. Betty loved to square dance and fish.&nbsp;

Betty was a former member of the New Home Baptist Church, current member of the Ladies American Legion Auxiliary both of St. Joseph, Missouri. Betty was the first lady to do the Pony Express re-ride in 1960.&nbsp;

She married Charles Jenkins on May 17, 1944, in Lake City, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1999. Betty was also preceded by her parents, son, Patrick Jenkins, granddaughter, Billie Jenkins, sister, Dessie Gartin and brother, William Allen Johnston.&nbsp;

She is survived by her children; Mary Jo Smith (Dennis) of Troy&nbsp;

Margaret J. “Margy” Artherton joined the teacher angels in heaven, on December 8, 2021.

Margy was born to Charles H. Crudden and May (Mahaffey) Crudden in Louisville, Kentucky, on September 8, 1933.

Margy attended Eastern Kentucky College, and received her Bachelor degree in English from the University of Kentucky, where she met her life-long husband Roy Gene Artherton, as members of the gymnastic troupe that performed during basketball half-times.

In Lexington, Kentucky, they were married and gave birth to two boys, Chris A. Artherton (deceased) and C. Phillip Artherton.

The family relocated to St. Joseph, Missouri, and gave birth to their daughter, Carol G. Artherton.

Margy and Gene were members of and raised their children in Christ Episcopal Church in St. Joseph. During the last 20 years, Margy and Gene were members of St. John’s Charismatic Episcopal Church of St. Joseph. Margy enjoyed sewing, embroidery, needle point, cross stich, and other needle oriented crafts.

As the children entered adulthood, Margy obtained her teaching degree at Missouri Western College, and earned her Masters degree from Northwest Missouri University.
