Robert James Brown 94, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at the Missouri Veterans Home, Cameron, MO. 

He was born February 28, 1927 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Mary and Howard Brown. He served in the United States Navy and is a veteran of the World War II. He retired from the St. Joseph Light &amp; Power as a Lineman, foreman and District Man, after 42 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf, and was a member of VFW post 6760, and the American Legion Post 359. He was a Christian. 

Robert was preceded in death by wife, Shirley Brown, his parents, brothers, Harold, William. and John I. Brown, sisters, Jessie Higbe, and Elsie Valeu, grandsons, Curtis &amp; Corey Snyder, and son in law, Ronald Snyder. 

Survivors include, daughters, Theresa M. (Ricky) Aldridge, and Sharon Snyder, a son, Rodney Howard (Lorretta) Brown all of St. Joseph, MO, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a brother, Charles T. Brown of St. Joseph, MO.

Nancy Reents, 80, of St. Joseph passed away August 24, 2021, in her home, with her family.

Nancy was born May 8, 1941, in Maryville, Missouri, to Ruby and Harry Wallace. From an early age, Nancy was instilled with a great work ethic that she learned from her father who she loved to help on his daily route. When older, she would get out of high school each day at 2:30 and go straight to work at the hospital for the 3pm-11pm shift. It was while working at the hospital that she met Jerry, her husband.&nbsp; While in high school she loved playing basketball and volleyball. she graduated from Maryville High School in 1959.

Nancy married Jerry Reents in 1958, they were married for 62 years. Survivors include Jerry her husband, Betty Pierson her sister, Bob Reents her son and his wife Lori West.&nbsp; Her daughter Robyn Stablein and her husband Robert Stablein. Her three grandchildren that she adored, Melanie Dearman, Emily Stablein, and Jeremy Reents.&nbsp; Melanie's husband Thad, and her precious great grandchild Jackson Dearman.&nbsp;&nbsp; She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Nancy loved people and would always go out of her way to help someone if she could.&nbsp; She loved God and always wanted others to know him too. She was a prayer warrior for her family, friends, or even a stranger.&nbsp; She had a huge heart for always making sure people had what they needed, or even wanted.&nbsp; Nancy loved her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchild.

In her younger years, Nancy loved to paint and enjoyed creating crafts that she gave as gifts to others.&nbsp; She always loved flowers, and Jerry supported that love and filled the yard with blooms and color.&nbsp; She enjoyed watching hummingbirds and in general anything to do with nature.&nbsp; In later years when it was harder for her to get around, Jerry would photograph in detail their yard and make flower books that she could look at so she could still enjoy the blooms in the yard.&nbsp; Nancy loved singing and fishing and well almost everything except rabbit hunting.&nbsp; In the early days of their marriage, she and Jerry did so much rabbit hunting for food that she vowed she would never eat another rabbit, and she never did!

Nancy worked as a cosmetologist at several shops during her career, advancing to a cosmetology instructor, and then director for Castor’s Beauty Academy.&nbsp; Nancy was known for her excellent skills as a stylist and as an instructor, and many of her students went on to become famous stylists, giving Nancy the credit for the skills she taught them.&nbsp; Nancy was known for not only being an excellent instructor but also for caring for the needs as a whole of the students.&nbsp; In her retirement from teaching she returned to owning her own shop, still treating all of her customers as special, which they were to her.&nbsp; Everyone was a friend.&nbsp;

Services are Saturday August 28, 2021, at Grace Evangelical Church. Visitation is at 10 am, the service is at 11am. Pastor Mike Brown and Pastor Josh Blevins will be speaking at the service.&nbsp;

Rodney W. Wiedmer, 77, of Troy, Kansas passed away Monday, August 23, 2021.&nbsp;

He was born near Troy, Kansas on November 26, 1943 to Charles and Lucille (Krousa) Wiedmer.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Rodney was united in marriage to Patricia A. Weber on August 21, 1965. They had two children, Mike and Kim.&nbsp;

Rodney was preceded in death by Patricia A. Wiedmer, his parents, and a brother, Robert.&nbsp;

On February 14th&nbsp;2019 Rodney married Susan Jones, she survives of the home. He is also survived by his son, Mike (Julie), St. Joseph, Missouri, daughter, Kim Nelson (Eric), Happy Valley, Oregon, grandchildren, Mackenzie King (Kody), Drew Wiedmer, Dallas Wiedmer, Molly Nelson, Aidan Nelson; great-grandchildren, Mya Wiedmer and Gianna King.&nbsp;

She was born July 11, 1957 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Clarence and Bertha (Kenyon) Dittemore.

Cynthia married Johnny David Coil September 26, 2009. He survives of the home.

She was a member of The River Church.

Cynthia enjoyed dancing, shopping, couponing, and helping others. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Clarence Dittemore (Della Wagenknecht), Marion Brown (Jay Dee); sister, Rayida Dittemore; brother, Terry Brown; parent-in-laws, John and Marian Coil; sister-in-law, Cheryl Dittemore; and her first husband, Arnold Shipps.

She was born February 26, 1925 in Pierce, NE, daughter of Emma and Otto Gugat. Betty enjoyed quilting and doing embroidery. She was a member 1st Presbyterian Church. 

Mildred was preceded in death by husband, Robert Duane Erickson, her parents, brother, Ervin Gugat and Infant Sister, Opal Gugat. 

Survivors include, children, Tanya Erickson of St. Joseph, Randy Erickson of St. Joseph, Michael Erickson of Big Bear, CA, Terry Leinneweber, grandchildren, Rachael Harrell, Renee Erickson, Matthew and Samuel Erickson, great-granddaughters, Bliss and Zoey Harrell and Alyce Vechiolla.

JoAnna Shelton, 63, of St Joseph, formerly of DeKalb, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 at a health care facility in St. Joseph. 

She was born November 10, 1957 in St. Joseph. She attended Lafayette High School. On February 14, 1981, she married James Shelton in St. Joseph. JoAnna loved children. Over the years, she had over 65 children in her home that she fed and loved. She also loved all things dolphins and enjoyed crafting and cooking. 

JoAnna was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Geneva Young and daughter, Julie Marie Shelton. 

Survivors include, husband, James Edward Shelton of DeKalb, MO, son, Michael (Lindsey) Shelton of St Joseph, son, Eric (Chelsee) Shelton of Pearland, TX, several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, 6 grandchildren, Connor, Levi, Chloe, Audree, Raelynn and Abel.

JoAnna Shelton  1957 - 2021

Kenneth R. Jordan (K.I.), 81, of St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away Tuesday August 24, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Kenneth was born on September 11, 1939 in Oregon, Missouri to the late Raymond and Emma Jordan.&nbsp; He was a graduate of Lafayette High School.

Kenneth married Dixie Curtis on December 20, 1980, they celebrated forty years of marriage.

She survives of the home.&nbsp; Kenneth is also survived by his brother Larry (Cheryl); his son Kurtis Jordan (Jacqueline); daughter, Kimberly Calvert (Lee); a grandson and a great granddaughter;&nbsp; three stepchildren, Chuck (Stacy) Curtis, Shelly (Mark) Garland, Robin Jenkins (Thad); 8 step grandchildren; 14 step great grandchildren and 2 nephews.

He was a member of the Freeman Freewill Baptist Church.

Mr. Jordan worked at Coca-Cola Bottling Co., for 13 years starting in route sales and moving into management.&nbsp; He then worked for Ultra-Chem Inc. for 36 years as a sales representative.

Kenneth served as a St. Joseph reserve police officer for 7 years.&nbsp;

Kenneth was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and camping.&nbsp; He especially cherished his weekly breakfast club with his group of lifelong friends.

Service 10:00 Am Friday August 27, 2021 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.&nbsp; Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.&nbsp; Family to receive friends 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday at our chapel.

Jordan (K.I.), 81, of St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away Tuesday August 24, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.Kenneth was born on September 11, 1939 in Oregon, Missouri to the late Raymond and Emma Jordan.&nbsp; He was a graduate of Lafayette High School.Kenneth married Dixie Curtis on December 20, 1980, they celebrated forty years of marriage.She survives of the home.&nbsp; Kenneth is also survived by his brother Larry (Cheryl); his son Kurtis Jordan (Jacqueline); daughter, Kimberly Calvert (Lee); a grandson and a great granddaughter;&nbsp; three stepchildren, Chuck (Stacy) Curtis, Shelly (Mark) Garland, Robin Jenkins (Thad); 8 step grandchildren; 14 step great grandchildren and 2 nephews.He was a member of the Freeman Freewill Baptist Church.Mr. Jordan worked at Coca-Cola Bottling Co., for 13 years starting in route sales and moving into management.&nbsp; He then worked for Ultra-Chem Inc. for 36 years as a sales representative.Kenneth served as a St. Joseph reserve police officer for 7 years.&nbsp;Kenneth was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and camping.&nbsp; He especially cherished his weekly breakfast club with his group of lifelong friends.Service 10:00 Am Friday August 27, 2021 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.&nbsp; Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.&nbsp; Family to receive friends 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday at our chapel.The family would like to thank Mosaic Hospice for the wonderful care that they provided for Kenneth and the family requests memorial donations be made to Mosaic Hospice.<figure>

Linda May Shouse, 64, of St. Joseph, died August 23, 2021.&nbsp; She was born October 27, 1956 in Kansas City, KS, to James and Melissa Rose (McKay) Sperry.

Prior to retirement she had worked as a CNA for Carriage Square for 15 years and Heartland/Mosaic Hospital for 30 years, Certified Nurse Assistant of the Year three times.

Survivors include her husband Jim; two daughters, Jamie Hollingshead (Dale) Julie Fletcher; six grandchildren Shelby Beaman (Zack), Chase Fletcher (Liz), Chassidy Fletcher (Chase), Ciara Miller (Chris), Caden Fletcher, Carson Fletcher; four great-grandchildren Zephyr Beaman, Lynna Beaman, Brinley McDaniel, Brantley "Peanut" Hanshaw; brother James Sperry (Linda); sisters, Shirley Robertson, Sherrill Gladman, Janice Tubb (Art), Francie Sperry; and her best friends Johnette Bascue and Monica Blue, also several nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, like taking kids to the lake taking them to the pool, and walks down by the river.&nbsp; She raised miniature daschunds.

Martha Corene Mitts, 100, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 23, 2021.

She was born October 12, 1920 in Tarkio, Missouri to Millard and Elsie (Black) Logan.

Corene married Charles Henry Mitts on November 16, 1942. He preceded her in death.

She then shared over three decades of her life with Walter “Brownie” Brown until his death in 1987.

Corene enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and gardening. She also was a longtime member of Deer Park Methodist Church.

She loved her family and spending time with them.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Jack Logan, Millard Logan, Marlin Logan, and Marjorie Goacher.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Pierce (Dick); four grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, LaVaun Powers; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Bobby Jane Karle, 64, Cameron, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021.

She was born January 14, 1957 in St. Joseph, Missouri to John and Helyn (Reavis) Karle.

Against the odds, Janie led a full and happy life. She loved her family enjoying many happy adventures with them.

She was active in the Special Olympics, especially bowling. As a young girl she loved riding dirt bikes with her brother John, swimming, and vacations.

Janie moved to Cameron Group Care when she was 32 years old. She made many friends and loved making others smile and laugh. She also loved her time at Cameron Development Center. Janie leaves behind love, laughter, smiles, and many happy memories. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John M. Karle, Jr.; sister, Janet Karle; grandmother, Carrie Reavis.

&nbsp; Larry Wayne Myers 62, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. 

He was born July 15, 1959 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Hazel and Harvey Myers. He graduated from Benton High School class of 1978 and joined the United State Navy receiving med tech training. He worked for Dr. Gondring as an X Ray Tech for 28 years then at ConCentra as a Xray Tech and Health Screener. He enjoyed Kansas City Chiefs, and Royals, bowling, and softball. Larry was a member of the Eureka Valley Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harvey Jr., Charles, Roger. Sheldon and Billy Myers, sisters, Sharron Kay Melton, Mona Davidson, and Ruth Myers. 

Survivors include, brothers, Robert (Delaine) Myers, Carrollton, MO, Mike (Vicki) Myers, sisters, Bonnie (Paul) Chavez, Ellen Creager, Betty Tebow all of St. Joseph, MO, nephew Fred Chavez Sr of the home, as well several other nieces and nephews.

Brandon was born September 26, 1982 in Ballinger, TX, son of Mary and Wiley Hearn. He graduated from high school in California. His hobbies included playing video games, especially fortnite. Brandon was a jokester and could always make you smile. Most of all, he loved his family.

Doris was born October 8, 1933 in Rosendale, Missouri to James and Nina (West) Akes.

She married Grover Violett on April 26, 1952.&nbsp; Grover passed away on April 1, 2019.&nbsp; She was also preceded by her parents, and her brothers and sisters.

Doris is survived by her children Rod Violett, Rhonda (Gary) Smith,&nbsp; Bruce Violett, 6 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Violett has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.&nbsp; There will be no services at this time.

Shane Duran Pierce, 49, of Bendena, Kansas passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 19, 2021.

Shane was the oldest of three sons born on October 1, 1971 to Dow and Diane (Price) Pierce. He lived his entire young life in a small farmhouse learning the value of family, hardwork and laughter all while being ornery and adventurous.

Shane was a graduate of the Class of 1990 of Troy High School, but attended the majority of school years at Midway-Denton where he played on a talented State Champion football team. After graduation, Shane attended Garden City Community College and continued his love of football while earning an Associates Degree in Science. Shane was also a graduate of Kansas State University earning a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture Sciences with an emphasis in agronomy.

Shane married his love and best friend, Dianna Lynn on March 5, 2009. Together they built a family of six children; Wakota, Brynna, Blaine, Scyla, Kylee, and Jaya. Shane and Dianna found happiness and contentment in family gatherings, front porch morning coffee, evening ranger rides, and annual trips to the ocean to celebrate their commitment to one another and their family.

Shane was skilled in his profession as a District Sales Manager for NC+ Hybrid Seeds and had a true passion for farming. Shane worked alongside his brother, Chad, where they established and operated Pierce Brothers Farms. The two shared an incredible friendship in both life and in business.

Shane was a devoted Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend who was a stubborn ox with a generous heart. He will be most remembered for his humorous one-liners, personalized nicknames for those he cherished the most and stories that will keep us laughing for the rest of our lives.

We know you are perfectly preserved in Jehovah’s memory and we look forward to making more memories with you in the future. (Acts 24:15, Psalms 37:29).

Jennifer Houghtaling, 58, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Monday, August 16, 2021.

She was born October 20, 1962 in Independence, Missouri to Jack and Shirley (Davis) Houghtaling.

Jennifer was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She enjoyed watching old movies, and her animals. Jennifer loved spending time with her family and had a strong Christian belief.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dennis Houghtaling; sister-in-law, Michele Houghtaling; best friend, Teri Gatrel.

Kenneth Lee Stickler, 78, died August 19, 2021.&nbsp; Kenneth was born January 21, 1943 in Gilman City to Henry and Frankie (DeWitt) Stickler.&nbsp; He was raised in Trenton, MO and graduated from Trenton High School in 1961.

He then graduated from Trenton Junior College in 1964, and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Business.&nbsp; He then later received his MBA also from Northwest Missouri State University in 1975.

He worked for the H.J. Heinz Company and Procter and Gamble as an account representative for several years and the retired from Western Missouri Correctional Center as a Lieutenant in 2005.

Kenneth was a member of Grace Evangelical Church and loved and served the Lord for many years.

He married Jonalee Dean on September 1, 1964 in Trenton and she survives.&nbsp; Also surviving are son Darren Stickler; daughter Gina Davies (Steve); nine grandchildren, Tim Dewey (Danielle) Dylan Dewey, Austin Dewey, Lauren Roggy, Grace Roggy, Addie Stickler, Hope Stickler, Gabe Stickler, Ella Stickler; three great-grandchildren, Kyra, Maddox, Maya; and a brother Tom Stickler (Jennifer); many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents.

Services and inurnment will be held at a later date.

Clarence (Sonny) (Clancy) Hager born May 1, 1926 passed away August 17, 2021 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, Missouri

He was a member of the Greatest Generation serving in the US Army. He received a Purple Heart &amp; Bronze Star from the Battle of the Bulge.

He worked as an automobile service manager, boat marina service manager and a postal clerk.

He served on the Laurie, MO City Council. Was a dedicated volunteer at St. Pats Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, DAV, Elks and Laurie Mo. Senior Center.

Preceded in death by his wife Loretta, two sons Ronald and Kevin and special friend Frances Smith.

He is survived by his daughter Stephanie (Gary) and his son Mark (Nancy). Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A special thanks to the angels at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO.

A Parish Rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM on Wednesday &nbsp;at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel at 3609 Frederick Blvd, St. Joseph, Mo.

&nbsp; Larry Dean Goodwin, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021.

He was born March 29, 1935 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Cecil and Martha (Fox) Goodwin.

Larry married Shirley Jean Barmann on September 15, 1956. She survives of the home.

He worked at Quaker Oats for 36 years, retiring in 1994 as Senior Project Engineer.

Larry was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, working in the yard, traveling, bowling, and watching the Stock Market daily. Larry’s favorite holiday was Halloween as he enjoyed handing out candy to all the children. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marsha Butcher and Bonnie Brand.

Thomas graduated from Central High School then served in the United States Navy. Later, he worked in maintenance for hotels.

Mercedes Talbot 85, of Saint Joseph, MO passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at her home. 

She was born September 24, 1935 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Anna and Ricardo Lopez. She graduated from Benton High School class of 1953 and married Francis Talbot February 27, 1954 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, by Msgr Maximilian Rupp, and they shared 67 years together. She was one of the founding members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and very active in the church, serving in several leadership roles for The Altar Society, the Church Choir, hospitality committee, also as co-chair of the first auction held in 1983. She was a former member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and help start the Mexican Fiesta in 1969, she also was instrumental with Fr. McCormick with the organization of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine. She was also a member of the former Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She enjoyed all her activities, however her family was her highest priority and joy. 

Mercedes was preceded in death by her parents Ricardo and Anna Lopez, brothers, Onesimo Lopez, Constantino "Tino" Lopez, twin brothers, Ricardo &amp; Santiago "Chago" Lopez, and Peter Joseph Lopez, sisters, Conception "Connie" Evans, and Mary Bears, and daughter in law, Diane Talbot. 

Survivors include husband, Francis A. Talbot of the home, four daughters, Regina (Manuel) Enriquez Valerie (Tom) George, Lydia (Scott) McClanahan all of St. Joseph, MO and Mary Talbot of Eagan, MN. five sons: Francis James (Kay) Talbot, St. Joseph, MO, Martin (Robbin) Talbot, Clearwater, FL, Kevin Talbot, Timothy (Tammy) Talbot all of St. Joseph, MO, and John (Annette) Talbot, North Kansas City, MO, 19 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, a brother, Jesse (Gertrude) Lopez, St. Joseph, MO, brother in law Bob Bears, as well as numerous nieces, nephews &amp; brother and sister in laws.
