 Marjorie Jean McDowell, 81, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021.  

 She was born March 14, 1940 in Wathena, Kansas to Samuel and Marvie (Cochran) Blakley.

 A devoted Christian, Marjorie was a member of the Family Worship Center in Country Club Village, Mo. She loved to read her Bible every day with prayer.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Denny Blakley; infant son, David Bravo; first husband, David Bravo; second husband, Glenn McDowell. 

 Survivors include daughters, Lisa Presnell (Lawrence), St. Joseph, Mo., Leslie McDowell (Duane McDowell), Bolckow, Mo., and Sheila Wiese, St. Joseph, Mo.; three sisters, Peggy McCurley, Donna Meadows, and JoAnn Smith; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Marjorie Jean McDowell  1940 - 2021

On August 8, 1924, I was born to Herman and Selma Olson on a farm east of Robinson, Kansas.&nbsp; My first home was just east of the “Stone Barn” and southeast of Robinson.&nbsp; My younger brother, Arthur and I, liked to play in that Stone Barn. I went to grade school at White Eagle Country School and graduated from Robinson High School in 1942.

I worked at Duckwalls in Salina, Kansas during World War II.&nbsp; After the war, on January 21, 1945 I married Allen “Dean” Erdley. We moved to the town of Robinson into our big white house on the hill.&nbsp; We lived there for 58 years.

We had three children, Carol Louise, Richard Allen, and Aaron Dean.&nbsp; I was a Robinson Boy Scout Den Mother and helped with the Robinson 4H club.

I was a lifelong member, baptized and confirmed, at the Upper Wolf Lutheran Church south of Robinson, and taught Sunday School for many years.&nbsp; As a member of ELCW, I also helped sew many quilts that were shipped to countries overseas through Lutheran World Relief.

I helped begin and oversee the Robinson Memorial Park which was a Memorial to my husband, Dean Erdley.&nbsp; I was a member of the Robinson American Legion Auxiliary.&nbsp; I also worked at the Bank of Robinson from 1963 to 2004, for 41 years.&nbsp; I worked on the Robinson Election Committee, was a member of the Senior Citizens Board, and volunteered at the Community Grocery Store.

In May 2007, I left our big house on the hill in Robinson and moved to an apartment at Maple Grove in Hiawatha.&nbsp; In 2017, I moved to the Pines in Hiawatha where I had the loving and wonderful care for the rest of my earthly years.&nbsp; Surrounded by family and all the love of my wonderful caregivers at the Pines, I peacefully left this earth in the early morning hours on Friday, December 17, 2021.

A Celebration of Gertrude’s Eternal Life is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, December 23, at Upper Wolf Lutheran Church, southeast of Robinson, with Pastor Fran Lantz officiating.&nbsp; Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery

Gertrude Erdley  1924 - 2021

Beth (Grienke) Kar passed away December 18, 2021, at Northcare Hospice Hospital in North Kansas City, MO, following a valiant battle with sarcoma cancer. 

Beth was born October 1, 1970, in New Castle, Indiana to Ray Grienke and Beverly (Hoffman) Grienke. Beth was raised in Michigan and graduated valedictorian from Carson City High School 1998 in Carson City, MI. In 2002 she received her Bachelor of Arts degree with an English major from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI.

In 1995 Beth married Andrew Kar. They have one son Benjamin Kar. That marriage ended in divorce 2017 with both of them remaining close friends.

While in Michigan Beth was head of the children’s department in Barnes and Nobles then a PR trainer and educator for a travel agency. In 2002 she and her family moved to St. Joseph, MO where Beth became Deputy City Clerk, then City Clerk for the City of Savannah. In spite of Beth’s cancer which was diagnosed in 2019, she determinedly maintained her work ethic, continuing to work throughout her treatments.

Running was Beth’s passion, and she was a top runner of the area. She and her friends not only ran in local races but travelled around the country running 5Ks, 10Ks, half-marathons and marathons where she made friends from everywhere. Beth’s concern for others, their problems and goals and her encouragement to them made her a special, loved friend. One of Beth’s goals was to run the Boston Marathon. She qualified for the 2019 Boston Marathon but while training started having problems with her leg and back. (It later was diagnosed as stage four of a rare form of sarcoma cancer.) In spite of her pain, Beth with special friend Stacy Beshears, flew to Boston where she amazingly completed the marathon and fulfilled her goal. Two months later she was in the hospital undergoing full back surgery. For the next 2½ years Beth endured a second full back surgery, 25 chemo treatments and 10 treatments of radiation. Through all of this she would come back to run many more races, show support for others, care for her son Benjamin, and continue to work at her job. She was known for her big smile, positive personality, and zest for life. Beth was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Her oncologist called her Wonder Woman. Beth was preceded in death by her brother Daniel Grienke and her father Ray Grienke. She is survived by her mother, Beverly Grienke, her son Benjamin Kar, her brother Paul (Jessica) Grienke, her ex-husband Andrew Kar, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Beth’s unselfish love for her family and for others will be forever remembered and live on. This world is a much better place because she spent 51 years on it. The ripples of her goodness continue to move through it.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Christian Church in St. Joseph, 2:00 on Saturday, January 15, 2022, officiated by Rev. Brian Kirk (with Public Livestream). Beth J. Kar  1970 - 2021

Norma Glenn, age 89, passed away quietly Friday morning, December 17, 2021, at home in the loving company of her husband and son.

Norma was born in Troy, KS, the daughter of George and Berneice (Whetstine) Karn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, George and Alfred Karn, and son, Michael Glenn.

She is survived by her sister, Grace Evans; her husband, Melvin Glenn, Sr.; her son, Melvin Jr. (Peggy); and Terri Thaler (Steven). Norma is also survived by seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, as well as numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She loved them all dearly.

Norma was retired from Sherwood Medical. She had also worked at J.C. Penney and Whitaker Cable.

On their recent anniversary, Norma and Melvin celebrated 71 years of marriage. They were wed November 10, 1950 in Fanning, KS, with Reverend Will Twombly presiding over the ceremony.

Norma loved her family life, and enjoyed traveling and boating. She loved to garden, and raised vegetables as well as a wide variety of flowers.

Norma was an active member of The Community of Christ Church for her entire life and always held great personal faith in our Lord and Savior. She also delighted in the fellowship of family and friends.

Norma Jean (Karn) Glenn  1932 - 2021

Mary Ann (Taylor) Castle, 103, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away December 15, 2021.

She was born January 25, 1918 in Commerce, GA to Edwin H. and Meda Appleby Taylor. Her father worked for Gulf Oil and the family moved to Pensacola, then Chipley, FL and finally to DeFuniak Springs in the Florida panhandle. Growing up 30 miles from the Gulf coast beaches, Mary Ann had a lifelong love of seafood and sunshine.

She attended Palmer Academy in DeFuniak Springs and began working at a bank. She was recruited to take a civil service exam and began working for the War Department at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida where she met Jimmy Dolittle’s Raiders who were stationed at Eglin for wartime training. She started working for the Air Weather Service at the Air Force Base in Marianna, FL and in 1946 transferred to Air Weather Service Headquarters in Washington, DC. It was in post war Washington that she met Air Force pilot Captain Donald O. Castle on a blind date. They were married in May of 1948, then were transferred to Dayton, OH where her children Donald Jr. and Susan were born.

While Don was deployed to Korea, Mary Ann and kids stayed with family in St. Joseph and Florida. Their next assignment was Ft. McClellan, AL where her children Douglas and Candace were born. The family received their first overseas assignment to Ankara, Turkey in 1955. Mary Ann loved the adventure of living in a different culture, regularly shopped Turkish markets and bazaars and loved taking a trip to the Holy Lands and Egypt with her church group. The next assignment was at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, DC with the family living in Silver Spring, MD and enjoying regular weekend visits to the museums and Capitol Mall for picnics. In 1961 the family’s next assignment was to Oslo, Norway where Don was assigned to NATO headquarters. Mary Ann often said Norway was the best place they ever lived. She continued her love of going to markets and antique shops and had custom Norwegian sweaters knitted for the whole family. She learned to ski and cooked everything Don brought home from his travels.

In 1963, Don retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel and they moved back to his hometown of St. Joseph where he taught math and physics at Central High School. When her children finished high school, Mary Ann took a job at People’s Savings and Loan. When North American Savings acquired People’s, Mary Ann was hired as branch manager of their new location on the Belt. She retired in 1985 after 15 years.

She was a long-time member of Westminster Presbyterian, joining Trinity Presbyterian when Westminster closed.

Mary Ann had a passion for reading and was an excellent bridge player. After her retirement, she played bridge regularly with several groups. She was a member of the Oak Grove extension Club and was treasurer at the Heartland Hospital gift shop.

She and Don continued their love of traveling, with trips to New England, Jamaica, Canada, Alaska and to Australia and New Zealand to visit her brother Charles who was head of NASA tracking in Canberra. Mary Ann had an adventuresome spirit and talent for adapting, embracing new technology and reading books on her Kindle.

She was preceded in death by husband, Donald Sr.; son, Donald Jr.; her parents; brothers, Ed, Charles and George; and sister, Ruth.

She is survived by her children, Susan Castle Kimberlin, Wilton Manors FL; Douglas (Donna) Castle, Colorado Springs CO; Candace Castle, St. Joseph; grandchildren, Becky Castle Miller (Matthew), Wheaton IL; Zach (Hannah) Castle stationed in the Republic of Georgia; Daniel (Ashley) Castle, Monument, CO; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann (Taylor) Castle  1918 - 2021

James "J.D." Dennis Thomsen 67, of Savannah, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021 in Saint Joseph, MO. 

He was born July 30, 1954 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Ella and Leroy Thomsen. He graduated from Benton High School class of 1973. He worked at Burlington Northern Railroad as a brakeman, switchman, conductor and retired after 41 years of service. He enjoyed gambling, playing cards, fishing, spending time with his family. 

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charles "Bugsy" Maugh, Rick Saunders, and John Joseph Thomsen. 

Survivors include, wife, Violet Thomsen of the home, daughter, Charolett (Jason) Turner, son, James (Kaitlyn) Thomsen, all of Savannah, MO, six grandchildren 3 great grandchildren, brothers, Ron (Carol) Thomsen, Bob (Connie) Thomsen, Kenny (Kim) Thomsen, Eddie Thomsen, and Gary (Carole) Maugh.

James "J.D." Dennis Thomsen 67, of Savannah, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021 in Saint Joseph, MO. Traci was born on June 5, 1971 in Atchison, Kansas to James Kesinger and Susie Sandy.&nbsp;

She ran a Day Care out of her home.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Jo Hannah “Jody” Weiland, passed away peacefully with family by her side December 15, 2021.&nbsp; 

She was the youngest daughter of Frank and Lucille (Dunn) Weiland, born at Hiawatha, April 9, 1955.

Jody attended Highland Schools, graduating with the class of 1972.&nbsp; She married Charles Stonebarger in 1972, and they were blessed with two sons William Franklin (Billy) and Jason Wayne.&nbsp; Charles and Jody later divorced.&nbsp; She then married Dan Keebler in 1983, and blessed with their daughter Lucinda Michelle.&nbsp; They later divorced.

Jody was a “master of all things from a short line cook to a fabulous florist” (LOL) as she would put it.&nbsp; She spent most of her life in Highland before moving to Hiawatha 22 years ago.

She is preceded in death by her parents; older siblings:&nbsp; Dee, Sherrie, Galen, Marsha, Paulette; her two sons Billy, Jason, and step son Nathan Keebler.

Survivors include her daughter Lucinda Keebler (Moriah) and her three daughters Emily and Nathalie Meisenheimer, and Shelby Smith; and daughter in law Ida Stonebarger. Other grandchildren include Crysta Osborne (David), Dalton Stonebarger (Pandora), great-grand-daughter Ava Osborne, and another great-grand-daughter to be born in April 2022.&nbsp; Other relatives include several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She will be greatly missed but will live on in our hearts.

Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland.&nbsp; Tony French will officiate.&nbsp; Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Candy Battreall, 74, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021.

On April 4, 1947 she was born in St. Joseph, Missouri to Raymond and Velma (Harrison) Foster.

Candy graduated from Central High School in 1965. She later went back to Missouri Western State University to fulfill her dream of being a nurse in 1995 at the age of 48. In 2017, she retired as the Director of Nursing at Gower Convalescent Center.

She married Charlie Battreall on April 10, 1971. He survives of the home. Candy was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Candy also enjoyed traveling, dancing, chocolate and Coca-Cola.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband; sons, CJ (Kelli Kerr), RJ (Ollie Benbrook), and Hutch Battreall (Aron); grandchildren, Gaige, Kain, Lexi, Taylor, Lindsey; brother, Russell Foster (Janet Collier); extended family and friends.

Audrey Estelle Connelly, 93, St. Joseph, MO, formerly of Teaneck, NJ; passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Riverside Diversicare with her daughter by her side.

Audrey was born October 13, 1928 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to the late Nelson and Mary Estelle Wright.

Audrey worked for AT&amp;T at the beginning of her career, until meeting the love of her life, “Larry” Connelly. They met on a blind date, in Florida; while Audrey was on vacation, and Larry was on a weekend leave with the US Navy.

On July 18, 1953, she married Lawrence Willliam Connelly at St Francis Catholic Church in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. They celebrated sixty-four years of marriage, when he passed on November 15, 2017. From their marriage, they had two wonderful children; Diane and Lawrence.

Audrey was a full-time homemaker, who loved listening to her record collection, as well as cooking, crewel work embroidery, reading books and playing cribbage with Larry.

Her children would say that she never retired, as she continued to take care of their father until he was gone. Though she had another four years after his passing, dementia took her away from us, a little more each day. She is no longer suffering from this awful disease, and is now with Larry and other loved ones where there is no pain, nor tears anymore. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Marie Massing (Joseph), and a son, Lawrence William Connelly (Pamela). She is also survived by four grandchildren; Kelly Anne Shaffer (David), Sarah Jane Cookson (Cain), Sean William Connelly and Ryan Thomas Connelly. There are also 3 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Anne Shaffer, William Allen Shaffer and Leo Parker Cookson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Larry, a sister Priscilla Wintrode, and two brothers, George V Wright and John “Jack” Wright.

Audrey has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel. Per her request, there will be no services or visitation at this time.

Alice Slagle Barnard, 88, died peacefully at home early on Tuesday morning, December 14, 2021.&nbsp; Her daughter was with her when she died, and her son and granddaughter had been able to visit just days before.

Alice was born on December 7, 1933, in Brooklyn, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer Vernon and Lodi Mae (Tarvin) Slagle.&nbsp; She had an older sister, Katherine, and two younger brothers, Douglas and Roy.

Alice graduated from Hugoton High School, Hugoton, Kansas in 1951.&nbsp; She attended college at Fort Hayes State University, Kansas and graduated in 1955 with a BA in Art and English.

Alice met Robert Eugene Barnard in Wichita, Kansas at the apartment complex where they both lived.&nbsp; Alice and Bob married on June 30th, 1962.&nbsp; They were married for 57 years before Bob died in October of 2019.&nbsp; Alice never quite recovered from losing Bob.

Alice and Bob had two children and four grandchildren; daughter Greer Barnard and grandchildren Isaac Pressgrove and Miranda Pressgrove; son Crandall Ross (Natalie) Barnard and twin grandsons Gabe Barnard and Griffin Barnard.&nbsp; All survive.&nbsp; She was proud of all their accomplishments. &nbsp; Alice loved her family (and friends) very much and kept the refrigerator covered with their pictures.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Alice had many interests, notably teaching, reading and politics.&nbsp; These were reflected in her involvement with the community and her career.&nbsp; She was a long-standing member of the League of Women Voters and served on the state board.&nbsp; Alice also served on the Rolling Hills Library Board of Trustees in addition to being an avid patron.&nbsp; She was also a leader in the Ebenezer 4-H club, teaching cooking to numerous members.&nbsp; Alice was also a talented watercolor artist but preferred to share her work with only a small circle of friends and family.

Alice earned a post-baccalaureate teaching certification at Missouri Western State College in her forties.&nbsp; She was the Reading Specialist at Union Star for four years.&nbsp; Afterwards, Alice provided private reading tutoring for fifteen years.&nbsp; She was always happy to see previous students excelling in the community.&nbsp;

Alice is additionally survived by brother and sister-in-law Roy and Jane Slagle, brother-in-law Harry (Katherine) Young, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends scattered across the country.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in St. Joseph at a later date and Alice’s remains will be interred next to her husband in the Jamison Cemetery in Clarke County, Iowa.

In place of flowers, the family requests donations to the Rolling Hills Library of St. Joseph, Missouri or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of her son, Crandall Ross, a survivor of leukemia.

Charlene Odessa (Ellis) Pape passed away peacefully the evening of Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, at the Pines in Hiawatha. 

She was born Nov.16, 1923, in Robinson, Kansas to Charles and Nettie (Marker) Ellis, the second of three children.&nbsp; She grew up in Robinson attending Robinson Elementary School and graduating from Robinson High School with the class of 1941.

Charlene married Warner Pape, Jr Dec. 26, 1940, in Washington, Kansas. After a few years spent in Alton, Illinois, working on a dairy farm, Charlene and Warner made their home in the Zion Community north of Robinson where they farmed 2,000 acres until they retired and moved to Hiawatha in1984. Warner and Charlene had three sons: Warner Ronald “Ron” Pape, III, deceased, (Julia Stonebarger) of Richmond, Texas; Jerry Pape, Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; and Alan Mark Pape, El Reno, Oklahoma. Their four grandchildren, Julie Christine “Christie” Pape Lorenz (David), Omega, OK; Warner Travis Pape (Rachel), Houston, Texas; Lori Pape Henry (Corey), Hiawatha;&nbsp;and Jodi Pape Twombly (Paul) Hiawatha, and their ten great-grandchildren, Chase and Cale Lorenz, Lily and Julianne Pape, Ashlynn, Ethan, and Karson Henry, and Hannah, Claire, and Jace Twombly, were their pride and joy.

Charlene was a busy homemaker and farm wife all those years on the farm.&nbsp; After her children graduated from school, she attended Highland Community College and received her Associates of Arts in Music in 1968, and she also took summer classes at Kansas State University. Charlene is best known for her love of music and her passion of sharing it with others.&nbsp; She gave piano and organ lessons to hundreds of kids over more than 40 years, including 2 of her granddaughters and 5 of her great-grandchildren. Charlene played the organ at Zion Methodist Church for 40 years, was in the Church Choir at both Zion and First United Methodist Church, was in the Handbell Choir, provided weekly music for nursing homes, played for numerous weddings and funerals, and accompanied many different musicians, but most special to her was sitting at the piano playing and singing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Charlene was very active in many organizations. She was a member of the Bithiah Chapter #454 from 1947-1981 and in 1981, joined the Zenith Chapter #184 of the Order of Eastern Star, where she held the office of organist for 50 years, as well as other offices, and was the Grand Marshall of the Grand Chapter of Kansas in 1973-1974. Charlene was a member of PEO-HU Chapter for 38 years where she held offices of chaplain, guard, and president.&nbsp; She was also a member of Hiawatha Music Club, Saturday Club, the Hiawatha Country Club Auxiliary, several bridge clubs, the Library Club, and the United Methodist Women—Rebecca Circle, she taught Sunday School at Zion, and she volunteered with the Hiawatha Hospital Auxiliary in the hospital gift shop and at the welcome desk.

Charlene and Warner loved to entertain and travel with their friends. Charlene hosted countless meeting and parties in the house they built in Hiawatha.&nbsp; Her greatest moments, however, were hosting her family every Christmas, and all the family fun at the lake house at Grand Lake in Oklahoma, water skiing and boating. Charlene and Warner also were passionate Kansas State Wildcat fans and had season K-State football tickets for more than 60 years and attended games until only a few years ago. They traveled several times with the K-State Alumni group to football bowl games. Charlene was a golfer with a few hole-in-one shots to brag about, liked to play cards and games, and loved to spend time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Charlene was preceded in death by her devoted husband of nearly 80 years, Warner, who passed away in 2020, her oldest son, Ron, older brother, Norman Ellis, and her beloved sister Mary Geraldine “Geri” Welsh.&nbsp;

A celebration of Charlene’s eternal life is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church, Hiawatha, with Pastor Dan Norwood officiating.&nbsp; Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Wayne E. Nold died December 15, 2021 in St. Joseph, MO.

Wayne was born the youngest child of Leslie J. and Thelma V. Nold, October 11, 1937 in St. Joseph, Missouri.&nbsp; They preceded him in death, as well as nephews, Stephen Nold and Brent Cocking.

Wayne married Betty R. Fox, January 8, 1960 in Wichita, KS.&nbsp; Betty preceded him in death August 15, 2021.

Following graduation in Savannah, Missouri, Wayne enlisted and served in the United States Air Force (Air Police) 1955-1959.&nbsp; Following short terms of employment with Karnes Motor Company, Dannen Mills and Tucker Feed company, all of St. Joseph, he began a career in 1966 with Albers Feed &amp; Farm Supply in St. Joseph.&nbsp; In&nbsp; 1970 he was transferred to Wichita, Kansas where he managed an agricultural wholesale/retail business for Carnation's Feed Division until 1986.&nbsp; Later the business became known as CW Feeds, which he co-owned from 1988 - 1992.

Wayne's personal time was spent in many enjoyable and diverse areas during 36 years in Wichita.&nbsp; Restoring classic Mustangs (1964 -65 &amp; 66's) was a passion for many years along with his Happy Home Pet Care Business, driving a tour bus evenings and weekends, real estate agent with bank appraisal assignments and recreational golf -- all in his spare hours.&nbsp; Following retirement he added stained glass art along with much more golf.&nbsp; He and Betty officially retired to north Missouri in 2006, where they enjoyed their remaining years with family and friends.

His local affiliations include Cosby Blue Lodge No. 600, and Moila Temple where he is currently a member of the Ole Tymers Antique Autos Unit.

Wayne is survived by one brother L.J. Nold of St. Joseph, and sister Joyce M. Miller of rural Savannah.&nbsp; Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Church membership was transferred from Long Branch Christian Church to Ashland United Methodist Church in 2012.&nbsp; In honoring his wishes, there will be no visitation or service scheduled.&nbsp; Mr. Nold has been cremated with graveside inurnment to be held in the Savannah, Missouri Cemetery at a later date.

Janice Griffey, 79, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

She was born January 18, 1942, in St. Joseph, Missouri to George and Ellen (Howard) Barker.

Janice married Bob Griffey December 31, 1959. He preceded her in death September 20, 1988.

Janice was also preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include children, Rick Griffey, Missouri City, TX, Colette Reiter, Denver, CO, Bridgette Bucholz (Eric) Kiowa, CO; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Barker (Linda), St. Joseph, MO, George Barker (Wyonna), TX; numerous nieces and nephews.

Janice married Bob Griffey December 31, 1959. He preceded her in death September 20, 1988. She enjoyed antiques and gardening. Janice was also preceded in death by her parents. Gloria Ann Cundiff, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

She was born December 16, 1940, in Emma, Missouri to Herbert and Eunice (Borgelt) Fuehring.

Gloria was joined in marriage to Melvin Ervin Cundiff November 26, 1960. He survives of the home. Gloria graduated from Sweet Springs High School in Sweet Springs, Missouri.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for the past year. Gloria was also an active member of Timothy Lutheran Church, Blue Springs, Missouri for over 50 years where she was head of the prayer chain, Stephen minister, Bethel Bible teacher, and member of the choir. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include sons, Jason Cundiff (Christi), Joel Cundiff (Jennifer); granddaughter, Ashley Cundiff; siblings, John Fuehring (Joyce), Karen Pragman (Bill), Linda Nielson (Jim); numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, Timothy Lutheran Church, Blue Springs, Missouri. Inurnment Holy Cross Cemetery, Emma Missouri. David D. Ramsay, 73, Country Club, Missouri, went to be with his Savior on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

On April 30, 1948 he was born in St. Joseph, Missouri to William and Doris (Fuhrman) Ramsay. He went to school in Oregon, Missouri and graduated in the class of 1966. He received a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Avila College in 1988.

He married Mary Parker on December 23, 1977. She survives of the home. David attended Forest City Christian Church.

He enjoyed being in nature hunting for turkey or deer and communing with His Great God and Creator. David was an evangelist, concerned about everyone’s spiritual well-being. After growing up in a large family with very few material things, David enjoyed giving to others. Whether it be a meal, time spent helping with repairs, or with a few dollars – David enjoyed giving to those around him.

David was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stuart, Danny, Mike and Bob Ramsay.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; children, Zach Ramsay (Keli), Mandy Mays (Matt), Miles Ramsay (Alysa); grandchildren, Maddox, Sailor, Everleigh, Isaac, Abbie, Malachi, Nehemiah, Anna, and Chloe; sister, Mary Ann Johnson; brothers, Dick and Fred Ramsay; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Alvina Lynn Brunette, 66, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

On April 9, 1955 she was born in Savannah, Missouri to Florence McCush. She married Joseph C. Brunette on February 8, 1955. He preceded her in death.

Alvina loved word puzzles, reading magazines and the newspaper, watching game shows and the news.

She was preceded in death by her mother; husband; and son, Joseph J. Brunette.

Survivors include daughter-in-law, Cindy Brunette; and granddaughter, Victoria.
