PHELPS COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 9a.m. Friday in Phelps County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by a 17-year-old St. James boy was westbound on MO 68 just west of MO Highway 8.
The driver was negotiating a curve. The pickup began to skid. The driver overcorrected and the pickup traveled off the left side of the road and overturned. The driver was partially ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene the the Phelps County Coroner transported him to Jones Funeral Home in St. James. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
