
KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement are investigating an officer-involved shooting that sent a suspect to the hospital in Kansas City.
Just after 7:30a.m. Wednesday, Kansas City, Missouri police were dispatched to report of a suspicious suspect who was reported to be armed with a firearm and firing shots into the air in the area of East 39th Street and Kensington Avenue, according to a media release from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
First responders found a man matching a description of the suspect and began giving him commands. The suspect displayed a handgun. One officer fired his duty weapon striking the suspect.
EMS transported the suspect to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured. Police recovered a handgun at the scene.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
