KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a deadly shooting in Kansas City, Missouri have identified the victim as 63-year-old Arnold Garcia who died days after the robbery, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.
Just before 2p.m. September 24, police were dispatched to the area of 31st and Prospect in Kansas City, Missouri to investigate a possible strong arm robbery, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
As officers arrived they discovered Garcia suffering from wounds to his upper body. KCFD EMS responded and transported Garcia to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
Assault Squad Detectives and Crime Scene personnel responded to the scene. They conducted an investigation and processed the scene for evidence.
Over the weekend, detectives were notified Garcia died of his injuries. This is now being investigated as a homicide, and homicide detectives have taken over the case. There is no one in custody at this point.
Preliminary information revealed there was a physical altercation between two individuals near the intersection that led to Garcia sustaining fatal injuries, according to DiMartino.
