NEWTON COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 10a.m. Thursday in Newton County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Chevy Malibu driven by Sydnee D. Humphries, 18, Neosho, was eastbound on MO 86 near Baxter Street in Neosho.
The car crossed the center line and struck a westbound 2012 Kia Sportage driven by Ellyn S. Anderson, 37, Neosho head-on.
Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Clark Funeral Home. EMS transported Anderson and a 4-year-old male passenger in the KIA to Freeman Hospital in Joplin. Humphries was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
