Police: Kan. burglary suspect pointed gun, took child's backpack

JOHNSON COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating an aggravated robbery and auto burglary and have issued a warrant for the suspect who is in custody in Missouri awaiting extradition to Kansas.

Just after 8a.m. Tuesday, a suspect entered a victim's vehicle near 132nd Outlook Street, according to a media release. As the suspect's vehicle, described as a white SUV, was leaving the neighborhood, a passenger identified as 19-year-old Kory M. Atkinson exited the SUV, pointed a gun at a juvenile and took their backpack.  The suspect was described as a white man wearing a black mask and grey sweatshirt.

According to online jail records Atkinson is being held in the Jackson County jail and was still awaiting a return to Kansas to face charges.
