MARION COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 11:30p.m. Monday in Marion County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2023 Mazda 3 driven by Lori S. Cumpston, 51, Fayetteville, Arkansas, was northbound in the southbound lanes of U.S. 61 five miles north of Hannibal.
The Mazda struck a southbound 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by a 17-year-old Palmyra boy head-on.
Cumpston was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Smith Funeral Home. The teen was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia. The MSHP did not have seat belt usage information.
