Kansas man, woman injured after crash during chase

FRANKLIN COUNTY —A Kansas man was injured in a crash during a police chase just before 4:30p.m. Wednesday in Franklin County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol a Franklin County Deputy was in pursuit of a 2005 Chevy Malibu driven by 20-year-old Dalton D. Hartley of Topeka, eastbound on 7th Street in Ottawa.

Hartley failed to stop at the stop sign at 7th and Cedar Street. The Malibu struck a southbound 2010 Chevy Silverado driven by Thomas Nichol, 63, Ottawa. 

EMS transported Hartley and a passenger in the Chevy Shelby R. Rima, 29, Ottawa, to Advent Health. Nichol was not injured. Hartley and Rima were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.  The sheriff's office has not reported what prompted the chase.
