MONTGOMERY COUNTY—Authorities are investigating the cause of an ammonia leak Saturday at CVR Energy, 400 North Linden Street in Coffeyille.
At approximately 4 p.m. an ammonia release occurred at the fertilizer facility, according to a statement from Brandee Stephens, Senior Director, Corporate & Governmental Affairs for CVR Partners based in Sugar Land Texas.
Several individuals were transported offsite for evaluation. The Company responded to the incident and and is investigating what occurred. The company on Sunday did not release the number of those transported for evaluation or additional details.
On Saturday night, the city of Coffeyville issue a statement, "The city is aware of the refinery situation. At this time, there are no threats to the public."
