RILEY COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 11a.m. Tuesday in Riley County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Ford Super Duty driven by Avery Gene Lindsey, 17, Manhattan, was northbound on Kansas 177 approximately one mile south of Deep Creek Road. The pickup rear-ended a 2012 Hyundai Accent driven by James Edgar Echols, 54, Overland Park. After impact the car traveled into the east ditch.
Echols was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home. EMS transported a passenger in the car identified as Nakeenya Marie Echols, 52, Las Vegas, Nevada, to Via Christi. Lindsey was not injured. The KHP had incomplete seat belt usage details.
