KANSAS CITY —Three people were injured in an apartment fire Saturday in Kansas City, Missouri.
Just after 4 a.m. Kansas City Missouri Fire Department crews were dispatched to the 3500 block of Roberts Street on an apartment fire with possible occupants trapped inside, according to Battalion Chief Riley Nolan.
The first companies on scene reported heavy smoke and fire showing from a two-story structure. Two occupants had evacuated on their own and an additional person was reportedly still inside. Companies immediately began search and rescue efforts, along with an offensive fire attack, while rendering care to the two patients.
Crews found the third occupant on the second floor and brought them out of the building. Two hose lines were advanced into the structure to extinguish the fire, which was placed under control at 4:19 a.m.
Three people, a man, woman and a child, were transported to the hospital by ambulance. All were being treated for smoke inhalation, and the adult female also suffered burns to her feet. All three initially listed in critical condition.
