Trick-or-treaters will be out and about across the area tonight, but it'll be pretty cold out this Halloween night across the region.
Highs Tuesday are only expected to reach the upper 30s and lows Tuesday night could drop into the mid-to-upper teens.
Stephanie Malita, a health educator with the St. Joseph Health Department, says having your young ones wear extra layers tonight is key.
"Make sure heads and ears are covered," she said. "Make sure hands have gloves on them. And if you're a parent taking younger kids out, just pay attention to how they're doing."
Malita also says using extra caution on the roads, especially in residential neighborhoods, is key.
"Make certain you're watching for kids darting out from between cars," she noted. "Make sure, like when we talk about layering (clothing), make sure that outer layer has something reflective on it."
Malita also notes that hand washing and getting needed rest on Halloween night is also important for young kids to stay healthy.
As far as the weather goes, the good news is - winds are expected to die down by nightfall and there is no precipitation expected.
