THOMAS COUNTY, Kan. —One person died in an accident just before 2p.m. Wednesday in Thomas County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1992 Ford LNB driven by Yancy J. Sowers, 45, Oberlin, was northbound on U.S highway 83 at the Interstate 70 Junction.
A 2024 Peterbilt semi driven by John W. Adier, 48, West Plains, Missouri was exiting westbound Interstate 70.
Adier failed to yield to traffic on U.S. Highway 83 and pulled out in front of the Ford. The Ford struck the Peterbilt's cattle trailer.
Sowers was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Baalman Mortuary in Colby. Adier was not injured. The KHP had incomplete seat belt usage information.
