DOUGLAS COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal weekend crash have identified the victim as 74-year-old William Ennis Jr. of Tonganoxie, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Department spokesman George Diepenbrock.
Just before 5:30p.m. Saturday, a westbound 2015 Ford Fusion driven by Ennis, Jr. and an eastbound 2014 Toyota Sienna driven by Priscilla Franks, 47, collided head-on in the eastbound lane of U.S. Highway 24-40 between 1600 and E 1675 Roads.
Ennis Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. Franks suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital, as was a 15-year-old passenger who suffered physical injuries believed to be minor, according to Diepenbrock.
Douglas County was under a severe storm warning at the time of the crash.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Collison Investigation Unit responded and examined the crash scene on Saturday and will submit its findings in a completed crash report.
