The St. Joseph Mustangs are now 5-0 on the season after an 11-1 drubbing of the Chillicothe Mudcats at Shaffer Park in Chillicothe Monday night.
The Mustangs outhit the Mudcats 10-2. Recent Benton grad Carson Schmidt was 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored. Savannah native Truman Bodenhausen was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs. LeBlond grad Frank Gall was 2-for-4 and scored three runs as well.
On the mound, starting pitcher Aron Harrington got the win in four innings, striking out four and walking none. He allowed just two hits and one earned run.
East Buchanan grad Broncho Witt struck out six over three scoreless innings of middle relief, and St. Joseph Christian product Camden Lutz tossed a scoreless ninth.
The Mustangs are back home to face Clarinda Tuesday night at 7:05 central. It’s Baseball and Babies Night at Phil Welch Stadium. Gates open at 5:30.
