SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating an alleged child sex crime and have arrested a Kansas felon.
Just before 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a 36-year-old woman reported to police that a 13-year-old was at a motel in the 2300 block of S. Broadway with a man identified as 37-year-old Lorenzo Gary, according to Officer Trevor Macy.
The woman said that she believed the two were having unlawful sexual relations.
Officers responded to the motel and located Gary and the juvenile who were both transported to the Exploited and Missing Child Unit (EMCU) for interviews.
On Tuesday evening, police booked Gary into the Sedgwick County Jail on requested charges that include two counts of rape of a victim under 14-years old, according to Macy. Gary has previous convictions that include forgery and robbery, according to the Kansas Dept. of Corrections
