GREENE COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 6p.m. Sunday in Greene County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Yamaha FJR 1300 driven by Joseph P. Mauldin, 43, Fair Grove was northbound on U.S. 65 South of Highway CC one mile south of Fair Grove.
The motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed, too fast for conditions, according to the KHP. The motorcycle traveled off the left side of the road, crossed the median and struck a southbound 2008 Pontiac Vibe driven by Matthew S. Johns, 22, Buffalo, Missouri.
Mercy EMS transported Maudin to Mercy Springfield and Johns and a passenger in the car Destiny F. Johns, 23, Buffalo, Missouri, to Cox South. Just before 7:30p.m. Mauldin was pronounced deceased.
Destiny Johns was not wearing a seat belt and Mauldin was wearing a helmet, according to the MSHP.
