The Missouri Senate has approved a bill that would extend several agriculture and energy related tax credits and creates a new incentive aimed at improving railroad infrastructure across the state.
The bill’s sponsor Marshall Senator Kurtis Gregory says it authorizes a new railroad infrastructure tax credit beginning in 2027.
The short line is like what I would call the Double E Highway. It's the county road that gets your farm-to-market roads. It's the farm-to-market railroad. That's where it goes from the Union Pacific line down to smaller towns to really connect those.”
Gregory says his bill and says it would authorize a news railroad infrastructure tax credit starting next year.
“The Union Pacific wind down to smaller towns to really connect those. So, they need to be fixed up for something that's worked really well in other states. We're trying to bring that here to the state of Missouri.”
The bill now heads to the Missouri House for consideration.
