JACKSON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 3p.m. Thursday in Jackson County.
The Missouri State Highway patrol reported a 2018 Kia Sorrento driven by Patrick V. Dye, 57, Independence, was northbound on Interstate 470 at Woods Chapel.
The SUV traveled off the right side of the road, struck a bridge support and caught fire. EMS transported Dye to Centerpoint Hospital where he was pronounced deceased and released to the medical examiner.
