KCPD: Woman's suspicious death ruled a homicide

KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement are investigating another homicide in Kansas City, Missouri.

Just after 7p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to check welfare call at a residence in the 9000 block of Blue Ridge in Kansas City, Missouri, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.

First responders were directed inside a residence where they located a woman unresponsive and deceased. Her injuries were unknown. Officers preserved the scene and called for detectives due to the suspicious nature of the incident.

Detectives, to include homicide detectives, responded and began a suspicious death investigation at that time. Crime scene investigators processed the scene for evidence and detectives canvassed for witnesses or anyone with knowledge of the residence.

Overnight, detectives were notified by the medical examiner of a preliminary finding of homicide in this case. This is now being investigated as a homicide, according to Becchina and detectives are working to determine the victim's identification as well as her exact cause of death.
