CALLAWAY COUNTY—A child died in an accident just after 7a.m. Wednesday in Callaway County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 1998 Ford Explorer driven by a 29-year-old Holts Summit man was on the eastbound U.S. 54 exit ramp to Simon Boulevard. The SUV slid off the road, struck a tree and overturned.
A 3-year-old girl in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Boone County Medical Examiner's office. The driver and a baby girl were transported to Capital Region Medical Center. The driver and the children were not properly restrained, according to the MSHP.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol no longer releases identity of accident victims.
