4 dead after SUV, car crash on Missouri highway

VERNON COUNTY—Four people died in an accident just after 8p.m. Friday in Vernon County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2025 Toyota Corolla driven by a 49-year-old Camdenton man was southbound on southbound on U.S. 54 two miles south of Walker. The driver failed to stop at the stop sign.

An eastbound 2015 GMC Terrain driven by a 38-year-old Osceola man struck the Toyota. After impact the Toyota traveled off the road, struck a fence and a tree.

The driver of the SUV and three passenger in the Toyota identified as an 18-year-old Springfield woman, a 19-year-old Climax Springs woman and a 21-year-old Camdenton woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

EMS transported the driver of the Toyota to Freeman West in Joplin. A fourth passenger in the Toyota identified as a 38-year-old Camdenton woman and a 39-year-old female passenger in the SUV from Osceola were airlifted to area hospitals. EMS transported an 18-year-old woman and two 16-year-old females, all passengers in the SUV to Nevada Regional Hospital.
