An investigation is underway to determine why a shooting took place late Sunday morning at the North Belt Walmart in St. Joseph.
The St. Joseph Police Department reports the victim and the suspect knew each other. The victim suffered sustained gunshot wounds and is receiving medical treatment, according to the department.
Police say the shooting took place shortly after 11am Sunday. Police report the identity of the shooter has not been confirmed. The investigation continues.
The St. Joseph Police Department encourages anyone with information about the shooting to contact the department at 816-271-4777 or submit an anonymous tip through the local Crime Stoppers hotline.
