The North Platte girls' track and field team is a state champion in Class 2, scoring 71 total points at the Class 1 and 2 state track meet at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City on Friday and Saturday.
The Panthers finished second at state last year, and the state title is the first ever for the girls' track team and just the third for all sports in North Platte's history.
Olivia Rogers is a state champion in the 100 and 200 meter dash, while North Platte's 4x100 and 4x200 meter relay teams also took first.
Elsewhere, Stanberry's Lexi Craig is a state champion in javelin, setting a new meet record with a throw of 146 feet-9 inches. In addition, the Stanberry girls' 4x200 meter relay team took first.
In Class 1 boys, West Nodaway's Riley Blay completed his long distance triple crown, taking gold in the 800 and 1600 meter run Saturday after winning the 3200 meter race Friday.
The King City boys claimed a pair of gold medals in the 4x100 and 4x200 meter relay. The Wildkats' 4x100 meter relay team set a meet record with their preliminary time Friday.
Meanwhile, Mound City’s Tony Osburn ended his high school athletic career with a gold medal in pole vault.
In Class 2 girls, East Buchanan's Emma Klein repeated as state champion in triple jump for a third straight season. Elsewhere, Maysville's Mirabella Redman took first in the 300 meter hurdles.
In Class 2 boys, Bishop LeBlond's Elliott Murphy took first in the 100, 200 and 400 meter para race, while taking second in shot put.
