JACKSON COUNTY, Mo. —One person died in a home explosion and fire on Monday in Jackson County.

Just before 7p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to fire at a home in the 19200 block of E. 5th Terrace Court N. in Independence, according to a media release.

The Independence Fire Department extinguished the fire and a deceased subject was located inside the home. &nbsp;Independence Criminal Investigation Unit Arson Investigators and the Missouri State Fire Marshal are conducting an investigation.&nbsp;
