
NEOSHO COUNTY – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Neosho County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a murder that occurred in Stark, Kansas, according to a media release from the KBI.
Just before 7p.m. on Saturday, a 911 call reported a disturbance at a residence in Stark, and Neosho County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to 307 S Washington.
When deputies arrived, they observed blood on the front porch. They later found the victim, Scott Stevens, 65, of Stark, deceased. The investigation led to identifying the suspect as Luke Shepard, 45, of Uniontown. Shepard had fled the scene and was later arrested by the Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office at his home without incident.
Shepard was transported to the Neosho County Sheriff’s Office jail and booked on a requested charge of first-degree murder.
