
MONTGOMERY COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating two suspects on multiple allegations after a traffic stop.

Just before 10p.m. June 7, Sheriff Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a 2016 Toyota Tundra near US 169 and County Road 6000, north of Cherryvale, Kansas, after observing a traffic violation, according to Sheriff Ron Wade.

Deputies contacted the driver, identified as James Sims of Cherryvale, Kansas, and a passenger, identified as Sherry Hester of Cherryvale, Kansas.
During the traffic stop, Police Service Dog Sancho and his handler arrived on scene and conducted a free-air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle. PSD Sancho gave a final response to the odor of narcotics emitting from the vehicle. Deputies then searched the vehicle and located over two pounds of suspected crystal methamphetamine.
Sims and Hester were taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Department of Corrections.
Sims was booked on requested charges Distribution of certain stimulants, 100 grams to less than 1 kilogram; Use/Possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia into the human body and Failure to yield at a stop or yield sign
Hester was booked on requested charges of Distribution of certain stimulants, 100 grams to less than 1 kilogram and Use/Possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia into the human body
