24-year-old sentenced federal prison for NW Missouri drug trafficking

A 24-year-old north-central Missouri man has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl in northwest Missouri.

Lucas Coltrain of Newtown pleaded guilty to selling fentanyl and laundering between $10,000 to $15,000 to a Mexican cartel.

Court documents disclose Coltrain sold more than 5-Thousand fentanyl pills, pressed to look like prescription drugs. Coltrain admitted to knowing people died after taking the pills. He continued to sell the pills even after a friend died of an overdose in July of 2021. Coltrain himself overdosed on fentanyl in August of last year after being released on bond.
