The American Legion's Boys State of Kansas is taking applications for its 2026 session through the end of this month.
The event is set for May 31st to June 6th, at Kansas State in Manhattan.
Kansas Boys State is for those completing their sophomore or junior year of high school this spring. Though the initial cost is $375, per a release from Boys State, sponsors often pay the majority of the fees, often costing only $50.
The program is designed to teach boys civic pride, problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership by simulating elections, political parties, and government at local, county, and state levels. It is also an opportunity to gain respect for government, and the price paid by the military to preserve it.
Attendees are eligible to receive a three-hour course credit for Introduction to Political Science at K-State for a 72% discount, as well as earn merit badges to earn the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.
