PETTIS COUNTY— A suspect was wounded in an officer shooting on Wednesday in Pettis County.
Just before 10a.m. Wednesday, police in Sedalia responded toa domestic violence call in the 1,000 Block of South Garfield Avenue, according to a media release from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
As officers arrived, a man exited the residence and retreated to a red pickup truck in attempted to flee. The officers on scene returned to their patrol vehicles and a brief vehicle pursuit ensued traveling southbound on 16th Street. At a stop sign, the red pickup began traveled in reverse and struck the officer's vehicle. The officers fired his duty weapon at the suspect.
The pursuit continued south on South Garfield Avenue to East 16h Street until the pickup came to a stop near South Arlington Avenue. The suspect was taken into custody and officers discovered the suspect had been struck by gunfire.
The police officer and suspect were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.The Missouri State Highway Patrol is in charge of the officer shooting investigation. Sedalia Police is investigating the original domestic disturbance.
