Former President Jimmy Carter has died at the age of 100. The 39th president of the United States was a Georgia peanut farmer who sought to restore trust in government when he assumed the presidency in 1977. He earned a Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.

Kansas lawmakers made statement about the former President on social media.  Early Monday, Missouri's U.S. Senators Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt had not issued statements on Carter's death.

President Joe Biden has scheduled a state funeral in Washington for former President Jimmy Carter on Jan. 9.

Members of the public are encouraged to visit the official tribute website to the life of President Carter at www.jimmycartertribute.org. This site includes the official online condolence book as well as print and visual biographical materials commemorating his life.
