KANSAS CITY—One person died died in an accident just after 4p.m. Wednesday in Kansas City, Missouri.
According to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina, a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was southbound on Interstate 29 at a very high rate of speed.
The motorcycle was weaving in and out of traffic while also “splitting lanes.” The motorcycle rear-ended the trailer of a Freightliner semi and was ejected from the vehicle.
After the crash, the motorcycle caught on fire and was engulfed in flames. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to Becchina.
All lanes of southbound Interstate 29 were closed to traffic at NW 64th Street for approximately 3 hours. This is fatality #40 compared to #42 at this time last year, according to Becchina. The name of the motorcyclist has not been released. The accident remains under investigation.
