Police ID girl killed by gunshots fired from outside her KC home

KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement investigating a weekend homicide in Kansas City, Missouri have identified the teen victim as 16-year-old Traelynn Sibley, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.

Just after 10p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to a shooting in 3600 block of Norton in Kansas City.

On arrival officers were led inside a residence where they located Sibley unresponsive. Officers summoned EMS to the scene who transported her to the hospital. She was declared deceased by medical personnel at the hospital.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and are investigating.

Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was inside a residence at the location when gunfire from an unknown suspect or suspects came from outside the residence to the inside, striking her.  Police have no known suspect information.
