VERNON COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 10p.m. Friday in Vernon County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2010 Nissan Altima driven by Gordon S. Buttorff, 58, Walker, was eastbound on U.S. 54 one and one half miles east of Nevada.
The Nissan crossed the center line and struck a 2019 Jeep Renegade driven by Samuel O. Spring, 21, Excelsior Springs, head-0n.
Buttorff was pronounced dead at the scene. Spring was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Joplin. Buttorff was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
