JOHNSON COUNTY —A Kansas man is going to prison for the murder of his boyfriend.
On June 3, Judge Erica Schoenig sentenced 32-year-old Joseph Andrew Wacaster to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 25-years for first degree premeditated murder in the death of 27-year-old Cade Blackburn.
In April Wacaster plead guilty to the crime.
In March of 2024, Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in Edgerton where they found a man’s body, later identified as Blackburn, inside the residence.
Prosecutors said Blackburn and Wacaster were in a relationship.
According to an affidavit on the case, police reported finding Blackburn’s body covered with the family board game SORRY along with a Bible. Deputies also recovered a large butcher knife with blood on it.
