WYANDOTTE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a crime scene that sent three people to the hospital have confirmed a second victim has died.
Penny Smith, 50, a resident of the home, died Sunday, May 21, at an area hospital, according to polce.
Her daughter, 29-year-old, Kristy C. Thow, of Shawnee, died from her injuries at an area hospital shortly after the shooting.
A third victim was treated at an area hospital and has now been released. The suspect, Christopher Smith, 52, a resident of the home and husband of victim Penny Smith, was pronounced deceased on scene from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Just before 11p.m. Thursday, police responded to report of a shooting at a home in the 2700 block of North 123rd Street in Kansas City, Kansas, according to a media release.
First responders found three adult women outside with critical injuries. EMS transported them to a local hospital where Thow and Smith died
Inside the home, officers found the body of Christopher Smith. This incident remains under investigation by the KCKPD Major Case Unit.
