
KANSAS CITY —A suspect faces charges in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred downtown last weekend.

Clinton J. Kelly, 33, faces 2nd Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson.
According to court records, Kansas City police responded to a reported stabbing in downtown Kansas City on April 12 and located the victim lying in the middle of the street with apparent blood coming from his neck. He was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Multiple witnesses in the area reported seeing a man wearing a dark shirt, mismatched shoes, and jeans engaged in an altercation with the victim.
Detectives located a man, identified as Kelly, who matched the reported description. He had blood and lacerations on his hands. Kelly told detectives he stabbed the victim.
A Jackson County judge set Kelly’s bond to $250,000 cash only.
