Family pet dies in Kansas City house fire

KANSAS CITY —Authorities are investigating the cause of a house fire in Kansas City.

Just before 11a.m. Tuesday, crews responded to a reported house fire in the 3000 block of York in Kansas City, Mo., according to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins.

First arriving crews reported smoke and fire showing from a single story home.  Searches of the structure came back all clear for human life. Occupants were able to escape. One dog was rescued and one dog was removed but did not survive. There were no other injuries. Officials have not released a damage estimate.
